The truth of the matter is the Vatican archives confirm what we already know - the sanctity of the Servant of God Pius XII. Eugenio Zolli, was accused of converting because of His Holiness’ actions. He wrote his book, “Before the Dawn” to clarify that he did not convert because of Pope Pius XII but that he did take his name because of it. His conversion was a lifelong process of study.Actually all my posts were accompanied by references to internet sites. On those sites you will find references to documentation supporting the claims in the articles. It is you who on the one hand have made claims without showing their foundation while on the other hand making the specious argument that the Vatican is right to hide their archives concerning this period from researchers for “reasons of privacy”.
The plain fact of the matter is that many Catholics did act in a moral way. Some paid for it with their own lives. Others saved many lives. Pius could have acted with moral fortitude but chose not to.
Sainthood for Pius is an affront to those holocaust survivors alive today who were led to the camps while Pius remained silent and only began belatedly to take steps after it was clear that Germany would lose the war. Perhaps more importantly it is an affront to the families of all the righteous gentiles who had the courage to act.
“First they came for the Jews
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the Communists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the trade unionists
and I did not speak out
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for me
and there was no one left
to speak out for me.”

Of the Catholic Church he said: “What the Vatican did will be
indelibly and eternally engraved in our hearts . . . . Priests
and even high prelates did things that will forever be an
honor to Catholicism.”
Verification of this impression of the fine attitude and
behavior of the Italian people and the Catholic Church came
from other sources as well. From Jerusalem, the following
was sent to the New York Times:
"Many reports have been received here from Jewish
military chaplains serving in Italy and from Palestinian
Jewish soldiers of the sympathetic and helpful conduct of
the Italian people under the Fascist regime toward
persecuted Jewish inhabitants.
"These letters confirm that the Italians did all they
could to rescue and harbor Jews fleeing from oppression
and certain death, even providing false passports for
them under Italian names.
“The reports asserted that this was done with the full
knowledge and support of King Victor Emmanuel. It
also is known that many Jews found refuge in the papal
villa at Castel Gandolfo as well as inside Vatican City
itself.”
