This is an example on how not to be tactful.
Really?

We have a rather large base of bible only Christians.

None responded with scripture to my question.🤷

Is it rude for me to ask them to supply it?

Did I miss your question? What was it?😃
Anytime you feel the need to spread your bible knowledge on Paul regarding the veil, with the verse I supplied to you that you were not aware of, let me in on it.

Otherwise, why are you smilling?

Charity brother.

Its not funny to see how some think Peter the man was a metaphor.

I for one am willing to hear out their explaination…

šŸ™‚

I am sure you are too!šŸ˜‰
Indeed. Thank you for the words of caution. I sometimes get a little overzealous about the truth.

I supplied it to you, you told me you would read it.
Yet, you dont know now.

Let me know when you really start reading the bible.
*to all here- All for Him and I are conversing on 2 threads- she knows what I refer to and even took my apology and now after the fact is playing dumb.🤷

Is there a particular passage you wish to discuss?

How about Ephesians 4?
3Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. 4There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to one hope when you were called— 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

To me it says that as long as we all belong to the one and the same Jesus that we also all belong equally to one another. But in Catholic circles I am told that I am not a full brother in Christ, but at best ā€œseparated brethernā€.
Therin lies the problem. It doesnt matter what it says to ā€œyouā€ or for that matter to ā€œmeā€ as neither of us are qualified to interpret Scripture for others. What is important is how was this interpreted in the early Church? For the first 1,500 years of Christianity was interpreted, correctly, to be referring to the the Church Christ founded. the Catholic Church.

You are indeed a separated Brethren but take heart-in a couple of months RCIA will start and you can take instruction and become a member of the One True Church next Easter

estesbob,

How did Grace seeker ever answer the question about Peter being a metaphor?

Amen! Reconciliation with the One True Church is a gift that is free to all. Thank goodness!

I don’t think that there was an answer ever given for that one. Sounds like a private interpretation of scripture to me.

No Im sorry Im confusing the two threads:o I thought maybe you asked another question but not directly to me.:o

I will get back to you about the veil. I did find the scripture interesting.
BTW–what is your view or the CC view on this?

My first response is maybe I should be wearing a veil on my head:eek:

And again this is what I mean by seeing things through the lense of the CC. Your points are only valid from a Catholic perspective. I don’t even agree that your statement: ā€œFor the first 1,500 years of Christianity was interpreted, correctly, to be referring to the the Church Christ founded. the Catholic Church.ā€ is even a true history of the Church.

We have discussed this in RCIA time and time again. I am glad the Church is finally taking a stand on this.

It makes sense that we advocate the return of the fallen…but let the fallen be aware…they are choosing to be apart from His Church.

If you do not believe that, you really should read a history book.

Do you have an alternate History you would to provide?

My points are valid from any perspective-unless one really believes God let the Church exist in grievous error for over a thousand years. Why would anyone worship a god that was inept as that?

You look at everything from the perspective that the Bible is a big Rubic Cube and all you have to do is fugue it out and all will be revealed to you. Thus you dump a verse of Scripture on us and are perplexed when no one agrees with what you say it does.

You will never see the truth until you free yourself from the straight jacket of Sola Scriptura

Go with your heart, and ask the Holy Spirit.

As you can clearly see from reading the bible, we could all have a different understanding from merely reading it.

Let me know what your (not your pastor’s view is) is—

I cant stop you from asking your pastor.

I ask you for a reason.

I want you to stop and think.

Something I know you strive to do.šŸ‘

Don’t be mad at me, but I was a bit disheartened to read this. Of course, the Pope is going to say that there is only one true church, but I don’t think this will help with reaching out to other faiths. You want to bring others into fold, as it were, but I think you need to find common ground first. John Paul II was pretty good at doing that, I thought. This seemed kind of harsh.

I’ve been away from the church around 30 years and am now just coming around to thinking about attending and becoming active again. But this latest development makes me pause.

You dont reach out to other faiths by lying to them. Nothing has changed, with this lates announcement. The Pope was merely reiterating what has been taught by the Church for the last 2,000 years.

Don’t pause unless it is to read back through the thread. When you do, you will come to see where this is coming from.

Oh, and welcome home. I feel quite certain that if you are looking for truth in your life, you will come to find the door of the Church very soon.
