What Americans recall of WWII was Neville Chamberlin waving a piece of paper in the air and declaring “peace in our time” and shorlty therafter, along with France, starting WWII by declaring war on Germany.

Then France was overrun and Britain was struggling to survive.

And then, again, the US had to come to the rescue.

Happy 4th of July, everyone!

You have yet to answer: how will you defend my right to say, irrespective of whether it is correct?
With logic and reasoning do you imagine a quote stolen from Voltaire coined during the enlightenment would involve an AK47 or a sawn off

So logic and reasoning puts one’s life in danger in merry old England? Things are worse there than I had supposed.

Of course, there are people who do live in societies where it is, indeed, a danger to life and limb to speak with logic and reason. I’m sure they will appreciate your efforts to see them disarmed.

I take it you aren’t widely travelled

Perhaps you might understand that you don’t have to whittle your own cutlery while you are away.
cutlery: cutting utensils

Was that intentionally ironic? Or did you forget the meaning of the word.

We tend to include forks and spoons unless you consider them to be superfluous (or possibly as jewellery)
I suppose its and English perogative to redefine English words. So, in England, cutlery now means spooning utensils. Double plus good. Maybe you should coin a new word to use: spoonlery.

No it’s not a new word it was being used from the mid 14th century. And I suspect it’s probably usually well understood

That article does refer to a scheme where people surrender their knives anonymously. It usually works well. As you say there is zero tolerance for the carrying of knives etc and it will cause any air traveller caught carrying one a lot of trouble. Carrying CS Gas or Pepper Spray is also regarded as a firearm offence. Some police officers are armed most aren’t

I’m Irish living in UK if any police force should be armed it should be the Gardaí and the Met and yet they both resist and I’m glad because I firmly believe it’s safer

Yes, it was a pointy knife. The kind that the English can’t be trusted with in their “cutlery”.
