This is absolutely spot on and we can consider whether any espousing these morals contrary to the Catholic faith will ever be identified. I think this is very fair to bring up.These comments today by the Pope have set up yet another roadblock for Protestants who are open to investigating the Catholic Church and maybe even converting. It would be one thing if the Pope had ever directly criticized any Democratic politicians, ever. But his silence on this, and what Protestants view as silence on the topic of abortion (rightly or wrongly), has driven them even further away from the Church.
Especially when he lives behind guarded walls while riding in the Popemobile. Especially since he made zero comments about Mexico’s immigration policies (which are much more stringent than the US).
