If you are against the Catholic church and it’s teachings, you are a Protestant, whether you or they, like it or not. It is what it is.In my opinion, if you want to use that definition you are sapping the historical meaning out of the word Protestant. Now exactly how far that term should apply historically, taking into account numerous split of splits, I don’t have a clear answer. Somewhere along the line “christian cult” hits the scene, but this is for labeling purposes and doesn’t help much when actually engaging with said individuals.
And since they don’t realize the protesting part (whether Protestant or not), labeling them such, especially against their will, doesn’t do seem to do much practical good.
