With all this speculation and fuss about I Motu Proprio, I have composed the following prayer asking our Blessed Mother’s intercession. I hope many of you will join in praying for this Motu Proprio. May God’s Will be done in this matter.
Feel free to copy this prayer and give it to family, friends and other fellow Tridentiners

Prayer to the Blessed Mother for the Universal Indult
*O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church and Mother of the Eucharist, we humbly seek thy intercession. O heavenly Mother, for so long now, many in the Church have long desired for a return to the Traditional Latin Mass. Many have sought a universal indult while others have sought out its complete restoration to the Church. Most tender and compassionate mother look upon thy children in this time of expectation. For so long now dear Lady many have expected that thy Son’s Vicar on earth would issue a Motu Proprio for the Traditional Mass. Dearest Mother by thy powerful intercession that our Holy Father will issue his decree of a universal indult for the Holy Mass of St. Pius V. Grant to us as well by thy powerful intercession that this universal indult will bring about peace and unity in the Church and will help return those traditionalists which have strayed from the fold. O Mother of the Church may our prayer be granted if such is the Will of God. Amen
*

…and while you are at praying this prayer, throw in the Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be for the Pope

You are going to pray for a return to a Latin liturgy, in English?

Amen.

Of course. Many of us don’t know any Latin, 'cause we’ve never been exposed to it or taught it.😦
I second that. If I knew Latin then I would have it written in Latin. Besides, an FSSP seminarian told me that private devotions are usually in the vernacular.

Shhh. Don’t tell them that! It might undermind their whole “People like to pray in their own language” arguement!

Honestly I’m working on the Latin. I’ve learn the Sign of the cross in it now I’m working on the Hail Mary…

I’ve posted this as a Bulliten on Myspace and sent it to every Catholic I know plus anyone I know that likes Catholics

It reads as follows:

Pass this one to any Catholic you know or anyone that knows Catholics for that matter.

At Basics His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI is considering a Universal Indult. That will allow the church to celebrate the Traditional Mass. Which countless Catholics have been desperate to have.

Prayer to the Blessed Mother for the Universal Indult

Begin with the sign of the Cross

O Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church and Mother of the Eucharist, we humbly seek thy intercession. O heavenly Mother, for so long now, many in the Church have long desired for a return to the Traditional Latin Mass. Many have sought a universal indult while others have sought out its complete restoration to the Church. Most tender and compassionate mother look upon thy children in this time of expectation. O Mother of the Church may our prayer be granted if such is the Will of God. Amen

After this one ‘Our Father’, one ‘Hail Mary’ and one ‘Glory Be’ for the Pope.

Perhaps you could add one to St. Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. Beginning from March 19 and ending on the Annunciation.

Prayer for the Universal Indult through the intercession of St. Joseph

O Saint Joseph, foster father of Jesus, spouse of our Blessed Mother and patron of the Universal Church, grant us through thy intercession that the Holy Father will soon issue the Motu Proprio which shall permit the universal use of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass according to that venerable rite codified by Pope Pius V. May this Motu Proprio be a means of healing from the painful divisions which have been so evident in our church today. We make our prayer through thy powerful intercession with God and in the holy name of Jesus. Amen

I rather doubt it.

Why don’t you do a survey? Go and stand outside a Catholic parish on Sunday, with a little clipboard and a sheet of paper and a pencil and ask people as they leave Mass if they would prefer to pray and hear the Mass in Latin or in their own language. After you’ve been overwhelmed with responses in favor of the vernacular, you can do what “traditionalists” typically do when confronted with reality: dismiss it. After all, it doesn’t matter what they want anyway, poor tiny-brained ones.

Thank God that Christ and His Vicar run the Church.

I am at a loss, to be honest. All this fixation on language and wording, why? If the Holy Spirit directed the church to the Nuovo Ordo, then why the bickering? DO we not beleive that the Church has authority, or only when it suits us? True, I beleive the the true teachings of V2 have been usurped, but to me, and I am speaking in some amount of ignorance, sicne I dont know the real reasoning, that these demands for certain language and wording border on superstition, as if God will only hear iti f it done thus.

The only person on here who advocated praying the prayer in Latin was Malcolm. No one else thought it was necessary or a big deal. Let’s not turn this into an argument. It’s about creating a prayer for the Universal Indult, which is a worthy endeavor.

Well, he didn’t say we couldn’t pray in whatever language we want. 🙂
Many times the presumption is, however, when you hear someone speak Latin, it’s usually a prayer.

Or at least it’s easier to make that connection.

How you pray privately is up to you. Latin, English, Sanskrit, or just quiet.

If you’re at this loss, then you need to reread that passage of the Tower of Babel.

And, not that you did, but I wouldn’t blame the Holy Spirit for whatever came out of Vatican II.

You missed the point of the post completely. The point is EXACTLY about what you are praying for, the Indult to bring back more use of the LAtin Mass.
