It is at times like this that your prayers sustain me. I feel compelled to update this thread, to let you all know that, not only do I benefit from your prayers, all of you benefit as the Lord is greatly pleased to hear from each of you - for any reason.

It appears that I will not “recover” in time for my next chemo, so I’ll just accept it and take each day as it comes, as Christ so wisely counseled. I emailed the pagan woman at work about my condition and she repleid that she would have to pray even harder for me. She then warmed my spirit when she typed “Your evil plan may just be working!” Please God, give true meaning to my infirmity! It is for this reason that this test has arrived.

I have a copy of 10 Prayers God Always Says Yes To for her and I will give it to her next trip into work. The first prayer is “God, show me that you exist”. Her beloved father died when she was 14, and all of her subsequent relationships with men have been a futile search for a replacement of that love. I hope and pray that the wise words of this book will speak to her heart, as Jesus is the only man she needs at this point in her life. A bible is next…

Again, God bless all of you as we struggle together through the tests of life. Our God is with us, remaining especially close in times of suffering. I cannot find anger at my condition, only thanks that the Lord is sparing me the flames of eternal punishment. Amen! Alleluia!

Jim,
I’m sorry to hear that you will not recover in time for your next chemo. When is that treatment? Just wondering … Your faith is very strong and, once again, you have proven your immense trust in the Lord. I hope that Thanksgiving goes well with you and your family! Always praying for you!

Blessings,
Judi

Good morning, Judi! I will have chemo on Tuesday, if I am found fit. We have an ecumenical Thanksgiving service at our parish Wednesday evening, and I am going if I am still alive! I must multiply the blessing of my cancer. Christ’s peace be with you today and always.

Jim

Jim,
That wasn’t really funny 😦 . You will be fine. Praying very hard for you and your family. I will pray especially hard tomorrow during your treatment. I have a slight surgery on Wednesday. Please pray for me if you think of it.

Blessings,
Judi:thumbsup:

The oncology nurse is speaking with my doctor today about delaying my chemo, as my body is showing too much damage from the last treatment, two weeks ago. A week delay, as well as a slight reduction in dosage, is hoped to allow me to function better. It now looks like I will definitely be able to attend the ecumenical THanksgiving service. That will be a blessing!

Many blessings to you and your family this Thanksgiving. I keep you in my prayers and will just have to pray all that much harder for your healing.

Also prayers for strength for your wonderful wife.

From today’s Liturgy of the Hours:

Prayers and Intercessions

Our Saviour has made us into a royal priesthood offering acceptable sacrifices to God. Let us thank him and ask him:
  • Lord, help us to serve God.
Christ, eternal Priest, you conferred your holy priesthood on your people.
Grant that we may ceaselessly offer acceptable sacrifices to God.
Be generous with the gifts of your Spirit:
patience, kindness and gentleness.
Give us the gift of loving you,
so that we may possess you, for you yourself are love.
Give us the gift of doing good,
so that we may praise you simply by living.
Grant that we may seek whatever is best for our brethren
and ease their path to salvation.

Our Father, who art in Heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come,
thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those that trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

Almighty Lord and God, you have brought us to the start of this day.
By your power keep us safe so that today, at least, we may not sin,
directing our thoughts, words and actions rightly according to your law.

Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Amen.

Jim,

I’m glad to read that God has kept your sense of humor in tact and has arranged your chemo schedule so you can go to the echumenical service. God is very good.

Continuing prayers for you and your family.

You continue to be in my prayers. I am always amazed at your spirit and strength. May you have a blessed Thanksgiving with your family! May the Lord continue to be with you and bless you!

Oh, I hope you’re wearing a mask tonight, Jim! Yep, I’m a nagger.

And you and your family are in my prayers. May you be blessed this Thanksgiving, Jim.

Despite some pain and difficulty walking, I went and had my infusion Tuesday. However, it was only two of the three chemical agents, since the third one was causing all of the damage. I sometimes wonder if I will ever heal from this, but can only offer up any and all pain to my Lord, Who suffered so much more than I ever can.

Thank the Lord, I am well enough to go to the Thanksgiving ecumenical service at out parish this evening. I am going to wear my Nicene Creed shirt, for those who may have questions. I may also take a couple of copies of Rediscovering Catholicism, Matthew Kelly’s book that calls back those who have fallen away from the faith. Lord, help me to serve you this day! Amen!

Christ’s peace be with all as we give thanks for our manifold blessings.

Talk about going into battle, Jim!!! I hope you, the lovely Elsa, and all your family had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are still praying here…

Jim,
Remember the rare blessing of the gift of knowing, and the reward it promises. My prayers are with you and yours during this end of the year seasons. Please keep me and all of us in yours, as they carry a special weight during this time of trial. We all hold you up in prayer.
May God’s choicest blessings be with you and may he hold you in the palm of his hand.

Please let us know how you are doing, o.k.? Prayers to Elsa and the children as well.
