Prayer Intention for po18guy

Your prayers always sustained me, but especially yesterday. For some reason, I developed a burning pain in my stomach. Changed medications, ate more often and rested a lot. It hurt to sit, lie down or move, but it was worse when I moved, so I just sat still. I could barely talk to my wife, which bothered both of us. I was asking for strength all day, and received it, as always. I ask the Lord to bless all of you.

It is heartwarming to see your continued prayer! I just slept all night, which was amazing, given my recent pattern. I am feeling much better today, but still have one more treatment (if I can stand it, Doctor says) on December 23rd. We have about 6 inches of snow - a week early if you ask me, but it’s beautiful nevertheless. I had trouble appreciating it yesterday.

I pray now for the grace and strength to enjoy the remainder of the Advent season, and to attend the Christmas vigil mass. That is only a day and a half past my last treatment, so my physical condition is entirely up to the Lord. Please, Lord, fulfill my desire to worship you at Your birth!

May the Lord continue to bless all of you for your faithfulness in prayer.

There have been saints (I’m sure you know which), that because of physical challenges were not able to physically attend the Christmas vigil, but the Great Lord in all His mercy, brought the mass to them or spiritually allowed them to attend the mass. So trust in the Good Lord my friend, that if you were not able to physically attend, He will make sure you will in spirit!!!

May the angels of the Lord assist you in this Christmas season!!!

Jim, thank you for the update. I always like reading your posts because they always show your strong faith.

My dear Jim…Continuing to hold you up in prayer. Joe (my husband-pancreatic cancer) has not been able to attend mass regularly but I know that God understands because Joe is there in spirit and now (thanks to a fellow Forum member who told me about this) we watch EWTN all the time. Stay strong my dear friend. You are loved by so many. Diane
 
Jim, still praying for you. If you can’t get to church, EWTN has beautiful Masses on the television. And if you don’t have cable, on Christmas Eve there is usually one channel that will air the Mass from Rome. I pray you will see and participate (yes, you can from home! I do.) whether in person or via the media. God bless.

I am going, even if it’s on a gurney! It won’t be, though. It’s much easier when I think of the humiliation, torture and suffering that our Savior endured for us. A little discomfort in order to show Him honor will be rewarded, I can only hope.

Jim, I pray you can get to mass. Please say a prayer for my family. Our vehicles are breaking down and we are having a hard time getting from place to place and can’t go to mass as a family. Tim

I have been reading your posts. What an inspiration you are to us here. I am keeping you in my prayers. I wish you God’s Blessings & Peace.

Thank you very much for your kind words. Your post is proof of the blessing that cancer has been. I have no idea how many prayer lives have been deepened because of this affliction, but this is precisely why I was allowed the cross. That others might come to faith, or pursue a deeper prayer life because of my condition is the most Christ-like that my life has ever been. And, it is not through my labor, but that of the Lord.

Near the beginning of this, I mentioned asking for the reversion to the faith of a co-worker (due to her prayers for me) if it was not cancer, and for the strength to bear my cross - even though it might lead to Golgotha for me, if it was. I have received that strength, and even more than I asked for, thanks be to our Kind and Loving God. He, Who is faithful and true, has never failed me. To imagine that others see my faith as strong, when I view it as weak and superficial, is almost incomprehensible to me.

Therefore, all praise and glory be to the Lord. Again, thank you for your selfless prayer and may God reward you with treasure in Heaven.

Thanks for your prayers too. I’m sorry to sidetrack the thread, but I wanted to ask Jim esp. because he is so close to the Lord in his suffering. I think it is a wonderful thing despite the sickness. Continued prayers Jim. Tim
