I think we don’t need the thread hijacked off on a tangent.
This was used as an example, if we say something, it should have some backup. You really provided no back up to what you said.
Christian prayers are fine. But I suspect that the call in this march is for a thinly disguised right-wing campaign “prayer” for a Trump victory. I would have to see more evidence of the intentions of this march before I would voice my support for it.
“Thinly disguised”, accusing Franklin Graham of this who by the way, did not endorse anyone for president in 2016 if I remember correctly. These kinds of words are way out of order…

And Graham, not necessarily talking about your posts but possibly other views in the news, is it okay to say something about a white protestant that if it were of another group of people would sound prejudice?
The cities were burning much more in 1967, and that may have been one of the factors that caused LBJ not to seek a second term. But somehow, this President has convinced everyone that he is not to blame. Trump says it’s the fault of the Democratic governors. But one of the worst riots in 1967 was in Michigan, while Republican George Romney was governor. If something is out of whack, why is it never Trump’s fault?
I don’t think history says LBJ did not run because of that. Maybe some people would say that but conventional wisdom seems to point at the Vietnam war.

A person is killed in Minnesota being taken into police custody or injured in Wisconsin and I’m going to blame the president? At the least, one of the next possible rungs on the ladder would be Governor and before that, would probably be the mayor such as Jacob Frey in Minneapolis.

I would be very very careful if we are on this board and saying derisive things about public figures that may not be true, I found this on Franklin Graham from ABC:
Check this. Graham basically will not acknowledge that Obama is a Christian. He says that he “cannot answer that question for anybody” on if they are a Christian and then goes right ahead and answers for someone else.

Franklin Graham’s organization is Samaritan’s Purse, they feed thousands of people a day, help them with medical issues.

Not far from where I type this is Northwestern College, it was established by Billy Graham, you will find all kinds of people there.

So, I do take it a bit personally if one judges others religions, “probably a right wing march” or something. I am sorry.

And I’m glad Reverend Graham respects the sanctity of life.

Please do not accuse me of hijacking a thread, I did not bring up Obama.

Now, has Obama shown Christian values? I think that is all Graham asked.

I think our own Cardinals and Bishops question politicians on their stances.

We know some have been denied communion so, it’s not the biggest deal for a politician to have His views questioned.

Only because one side has refused to be cooperative and has helped fuel the division.

Before Obama became president, I don’t remember our country being this divided.

The democrats were angry Bush won 2 terms, but I don’t remember them going ballistic like they have with Trump since he won the election in 2016.

Bush was also a decent man for the most part, didn’t warrant a special counsel investigation and wasn’t impeached.

Seemed like a nice person I agreed with many of his positions, disagreed with others.

He wasn’t polarizing.

Then, the objective person would look at Trump and try to determine why that is so.

That’s because Bush was a reasonable man.
I find totally unreasonable the Democrats allegiance to Planned Parenthood, not criticizing the riots and bloodshed in the streets. Don’t get me started on what is reasonable. Partial birth abortion is not reasonable, Planned Parenthood clinics centralized in minority neighborhoods are not reasonable, ISIS is not reasonable. Going back in history, slavery, Jim Crow were not reasonable. If one can support a party that thrives on accusing others of racism and the like, I don’t think the unreasonable one is Trump.

Just because Trump doesn’t follow the wicked ways of some, I won’t vilify him.

We can’t even trust election results in this country now.

Yeah, the party that is so fully in support of abortion is the reasonable one. Got it!

These comments above are off topic, hey, Trump not standing for infanticide? Oh, dear, Trump is so unreasonable. Yes, let’s check out the Democrats, they are such a voice of reason. (sarcasm off)

That is the lie that Trump has spread, possibly because he knows he is likely to lose and wants to find a way to invalidate the results. Or maybe he just wants to discourage people from voting. Either way, it is not commendable.

I don’t find it a lie at all. Why trust a party like the Democrats who are the historic home of the Klan, that support massive abortion in this country?

The problem is not Trump’s values.

The current violence going on this nation is easy to say is because the Democrats know their unchristian agenda is going to lose.

You are saying nothing with any real back up, others can do the same. This is just mudslinging.

Just like above on Franklin Graham, a man who has helped millions vs. someone like Obama. Let’s hope all are objective.

And I’ll say it again, we can just as easily say these very organized riots are just to help the Democrat cause, anyone can posit theories. And there has been a lot of destruction, really for no reason, it’s a temper tantrum.

If you have to go all the way back to the 19th century do denigrate Democrats, your case is weak. Democrats have not supported the Klan for a very long time. Meanwhile, the more recent members of the Klan include:
  • David Duke, who became Republican in 1989.
  • Edward L. Jackson, Republican governor of Indiana
  • Clarence Morley, Republican governor of Colorado
So the Klan is not an exclusively Democratic club, and no Democrat today supports the Klan. But there is strong evidence that many Klan members today are Trump supporters, so I would be very careful about trying to tie the Democrats to the Klan. It might backfire.

It is nothing like the mudslinging that Trump supporters have been throwing at Democrats.

That is hard to support, since riots in the public eye tend to benefit Trump who has been blaming the Democrats for them.

The Democratic party platform in 1924 included a denunciation of the Klan. That inclusion failed by one vote. The Republican platform had an inclusion in 1960 that : “All Negroes should be shipped back to Africa”. That inclusion also failed.
