Almeria:
Would your other pets eat Frankie’s favorite treats if you set those outside? The last time our cat made a run for it (she’s indoor only) we had to walk around the yard shaking the container of Pounce until she heard it and came running.

I hope she comes back soon!
Hi Almeria,

Yes, my other kitty would probably be inclined to munch on the food if it was left outside, unfortunately! Walking around shaking the dry food is a good idea, though, and I’m going to try that one! Thanks for the idea! Many blessings,

Geraldine

Now who is the patron saint of lost kitties?

Saint Francis always good with animals or Saint Anthony of Padua he’s really good with the keys but how about lost animals?

Hi Maccabees,

I started a novena to St Anthony yesterday because a sister in Carmel suggested it as that is how her cat came back to her. The patron saint for cats is St Gertrude of Nivelles. I said a prayer to her yesterday, too. Hopefully everyone’s prayers will help my kitty find his way home! God bless you for posting! 🙂

I Googled her name and this is what I came up with.

Apparently there was a problem with mice at the monastery.

St Gertrude of Nivelles

Died

Patronage: accomodations, against mice, against rats, against suriphobia, cats, fear of mice, fear of rats, fever, gardeners, insanity, mental disorders, mental illness, mentally ill people, pilgrims, recently dead people, suriphobics, to obtain lodging while travelling, travellers

Hi again,

I saw that you might think that the others might eat the food that you leave out…but with mine that only happens if I forget to feed them inside. I have 3 who come in every night and the one that I said only comes home every 2-3 days (or less actually now that I thimk about it). The only cats I really see eating outside are that one and two of the neighbors cats…(and in the summer an occasional racoon or opossum) . That’s ok though, they run when they see my group coming.
:bigyikes: :rotfl:
Shaking the cat treats is a good idea too. Sometimes when the youngest doesn’t want to come in, I crinkle the cat food bag and he comes running. Of coarse he whines to go back out imideately after he is full. At first, I thought he went to live with another family too…I found my kitty when I was 14 like that…but like yours he is a bit shy and won’t even let me catch him outdoors 90% of the time… so it is doubtful that he would let anyone elese. The only thing I worrry about is that we will be moving this summer, and they will all be lost in their new area. I remember the movie Homeward Bound, and I can see them trying to go home. Don’t give up, I thing what keeps my little one coming around… besides the kids are his “brothers and sister”. I think they have become a pack if that is possible. I am glad I could help and I have a feeling you will find kitty soon.

This is like what someone sent to me when Ashley was gone, so now I send it to you…A prayer to St. Anthony dressed in brown…Frankie is lost and must be found!

Good luck and God bless!

Thank you, dear Edwin1961! St Gertrude of Nivelles is quite interesting, eh? Thank you for the info on her. May God bless you, friend! 🙂

Thank you, dear Laurel! I’m hoping my Frankie doesn’t forget about his brother Rufus, who remains home with me. They are two peas in a pod, even though they look quite different from one another and have very different and distinct personalities. I rescued them off the streets in the pouring rain nearly five years ago–they were just wee kittens then. And thank you for the special prayer to St Anthony, Laurel–I’ve been keeping a novena to St Anthony also so hopefully he will hear us! Many blessings, dear! 🙂

Dear NightRider,

I am very sorry to hear your kitty is lost. I have a cat that I love dearly.
I will send prayers your way. Today I venerated a relic of St Anthony. I offer it for you.

Thank you, dear jrabs, for your prayers and your veneration of St Anthony’s relic and offering it for me and Frankie. That is so kind of you and I pray my kitty comes home as soon as possible, as I love him so very dearly. There are so many good people here on CA praying for us and that means so very much to me. Many blessings to you, friend in Christ! 🙂

Just a bit of information for those who live in an area with coyotes, as we do. A naturalist wrote an article for our paper a couple of months ago and warned that coyotes run in packs and can take down even a large dog and advised pet owners in these areas to keep them inside. So keep your kitty cats and doggies safe indoors if you live an an area with coyotes.

I didn’t even know about the coyotes in the area until I read the article.

Thank you, krazykatlady. I didn’t know about this either until Frankie hasn’t returned. The coyotes are what I am mostly concerned about because supposedly they are out here, too. The dogs on the property beyond my house, keep the coyotes off our property, but if Frankie ventured onto property on either side of us there are no dogs to keep the coyotes away, so I especially pray that he did not venture over there. It would be quite unlike him to do so, but one never knows, especially if he was chased or something. If and when he returns I will most certainly keep him in from then on…meanwhile, all the praying is at least helping me! Thank you, friend! Many blessings.

Dear NightRider,
I will keep your missing kitty in my prayers for his safe return to you. St. Anthony helps me every day because I keep losing things. I have found everything that I prayed for, so perhaps this will work too. Is there a warmer place outside? Like, what about a dryer vent, or some other such warm spot? Is there an area that is very sheltered from the wind on your property? I know you have looked everywhere. Just jogging your memory…

Prayers for you and Frankie being offered right now…Let us know when you find him.

I hope Frankie comes home safe and sound. I will pray to St Anthony and St. Francis

My cats - Kitty and Ling Ling will have a word with Bastett. 😃

Seriously - as a huge cat lover, I know how you must feel. Hang in there. He’ll be fine. 🙂

Geraldine,

:crying: I know the pain of losing a more mature cat. I almost forget about Garfield these days. He was a ginger tom and I got him from someone at work. He had some interesting habits and he loved roast lamb.

When we moved to Sydney my husband took him in the car and did not follow my advice about releasing this poor cat who did not like travelling too much. He was let free and he disappeared :crying:. Not even the smell of roast lamb could bring him back home.

I hope your kitty really is safe and is just sitting around frightened somewhere.

Hi Fitz,

Thank you so much for your post and your prayers for my Frankie. St Anthony is powerful! I am saying a novena to him and so I really appreciate your experiences with him, how you have found everything you have prayed to him to find. I pray this works for us, too! And thank you for the memory joggers–I do need to check a few more places out and that I will do tomorrow. Thanks so much for your kind words, Fitz. Many blessings,

Geraldine

Hi Little Mary,

Thank you for your post and your kind words and prayers. I pray that St Anthony and St Francis hear us and take our prayers to the Lord! and that Bastett listens to Kitty and Ling Ling! God bless you, sister cat lover! 🙂
