Dear Maggie,Geraldine,
:crying: I know the pain of losing a more mature cat. I almost forget about Garfield these days. He was a ginger tom and I got him from someone at work. He had some interesting habits and he loved roast lamb.
When we moved to Sydney my husband took him in the car and did not follow my advice about releasing this poor cat who did not like travelling too much. He was let free and he disappeared :crying:. Not even the smell of roast lamb could bring him back home.
I hope your kitty really is safe and is just sitting around frightened somewhere.
Maggie
That had to be really hard losing your Garfield during your move. I bet your husband just forgot about how skittish he was about travelling in the car. My kitties are brothers, Frankie and Rufus, and they have moved with me four times now, but each time is very difficult for them. The last time was a year and a half ago and Frankie disappeared at our old place all day long and I couldn’t get him to come back–he had been very frightened by all the commotion. I should have taken him to the new place first and shut him in one of the rooms. But he came back that evening, as I waited patiently in my old apartment, and he and Rufie adjusted well in our new place, probably because they stayed inside for a good three weeks before I let them outside again. Moving is really scary for kitties. And that is why I am so baffled about Frankie’s disappearance–there has been no commotion at my place, but there was heavy equipment operating for a few days in the field next to us, and that very well could be what frightened him…so tomorrow, more searching around. I sure hope he really is just hiding somewhere, too, Maggie. I really do! Thanks again for your kind words. Many blessings,
Geraldine
