The Catholic Church teaches that solidarity towards migrants and refugees is inscribed in the common membership to the human family. The Catholic Church teaches that all people have the right to be part of a community including asylum seekers who have been forced from their homeland

The exiled Holy Family of Nazareth, fleeing into Egypt, is the archetype of every refugee family. Jesus, Mary and Joseph are for all times and all places, the models and protectors of every migrant, pilgrim and refugee of whatever kind who, whether compelled by fear of persecution or by want, is forced to leave his native land, his beloved parents and relatives,

I encourage all to read and become familiar with the anti-Christian policies of this President toward refugees. The USCCB has been outspoken and are a great resource…

Here is an article that gives good insight to the brutal treatment of some of the most vulnerable among us… hard to understand why, in a prolonged period of economic expansion in the wealthiest country on history, we are rejecting women and children in danger and great need

I always think the artwork of Banksy is on point in issues like this. He likes to paint the blockage of the Holy Family by a great big wall.

Oh please! The Holy Family was endangered by their own King, thus they fled to Egypt. When they got there they did not go on the dole of the Egyptian government but instead survived on their own labors. This is quite unlike today’s “refugees” who get free medical care, food stamps, WIC and other government assistance. As a nation that is deeply in debt, we simply cannot afford to take in every person or family unit that wants to come here.

I thought the article wasn’t very good. It showed to much bias. Don’t agree with the premise anyway.

The Holy Family stayed within the Roman Empire. So I don’t think the comparison is apt for the current policies at the boarder.

Only 15 individuals have received asylum because most of the people claiming it are not true asylum seekers but simple economic refugees. We cannot afford to take in everyone from those countries who want to come here and we have the right to control our own borders and to take care of our own citizens first.

The wealthiest country in the history of the world can’t afford to help women and children Asylum seekers at our southern border… during a long, long period of economic expansion? sad day when our Catholic values are set aside for money.

Are there any sources for this?
You think it does not happen? Anyone can show up at a hospital and be cared for. In sanctuary cities and states they can get drivers licenses and that is the entry into all the freebees. Fake Social Security cards are easy to get and that also is another way they get into the system. It’s funny how all the proponents of letting all these folks in never offer to sponsor these people and agree to pay for all their needs. Nope, it’s let them in and make the taxpayer be responsible for them.

We are over 20 trillion dollars in debt - we are not wealthy any more.
Yes we are… our GDP dwarfs all other counties and there is more concentrated wealth here than anywhere else

Our current administration unfortunately put massive tax cuts in place for the wealthy that add immensely to the dept… immensely.

Still we can afford to allow asylum seekers…there should be zero doubt about that

What ever you pay for you get more of. If a refugee sees that they get food, lodging, health care, education and so on, well you’ll be getting more refugees. They’re not stupid.
Protect your borders. Choose who you want in your country. You have a lot of enemies. Be smart about it.

As a useful point of comparison, consider how the United Kingdom welcomed Jewish and Polish refugees at the end of the Second World War. The UK had just spent six years (yes, six) fighting the Second World War, it had lost almost 1 percent of its population, food would remain rationed until 1954, the national debt peaked at 270 percent of GDP, and industrial and civilian targets had been extensively damaged through bombing. And we are told that the United States of America in the year 2020 cannot afford to take in those who seek refuge here.

I would add that with the obvious exception of Native Americans, we are a nation of refugees, economic migrants, slaves, and their descendants.

There is nothing “eugenics-like” about making the decision not to let in every person who shows up without skills, expecting to be fed, clothed, housed, and provided with free lawyers and medical care.

Does a country have the right to exclude ANYONE? If so, who? Curious to see how the open-borders folks answer that.

One reason the whole “Holy Family were refugees”-argument fails is for this reason: the Holy Family eventually returned to the place they left. That’s not happening in the USA: people who show up and demand entry have zero intention of leaving.

Worse, many of those who show up expect the character of the USA to change for them. 30 years ago we never had to “press 1 for English.” Today residents of LA see mass demonstrations of Mexicans waving Mexican flags and demanding the US flag be pulled down. I mean, if you’re going to do that, why leave Mexico at all?

Really? A balanced, thinking person sees only the hackneyed litany of left-wing, progressive pseudo-reasoning blasted out…um… in an ELECTION YEAR. Wow! What an utter coincidence!

More like utter nonsense.

Did anyone note that the Church teaches that each nation has a right to control its borders?

Apparently not.

Yes or no: Do the “migrants” have a responsibility to petition the government for legal entry?

Yes, they do.

OBAMA and the Democrats had eight long years in complete control to fix immigration, and did nothing. And now President Trump, who has inherited the mess, is being demonized by those who are more more political than religious? Give me a break!

Another gross distortion: Does anyone seriously think that the massive, benefit-seeking wave of paid “migrants” was “forced” from their homelands?

Gee, why weren’t they “forced” to migrate during the eight long years of OBAMA and the Democrats doing nothing? Riddle me that one, Batman!

Only the blind see no radical progressive plan here.

“Whadda we do? Fixing the election failed. Blocking the appointments of Catholic and traditional judges failed. Impeachment failed. I know! Let’s drag out the well-used “immigrant” situation! That’ll finally get him!”

The average American is becoming increasingly weary of the leftist lies and distortions.
