All in all, I think Obama’s challenge is always going to be much harder in the debates because he has almost no accomplishments. It used to be that foreign policy was Obama’s supposed strong point but that is one of his biggest disasters as the Bengazi events show. His record is so abyssmal that its like Romney has a head start every debate. Who won? That will depend on who the undecideds think who won - because the race is close and whoever gets their vote will have “won” the debate.

Exactly. Obama has a failed record. While he did better in this debate, I think Romney did a decent job in pointing out that his first four years have not been successful. Paraphrasing because I don’t know the exact wording: “the growth this year was less than last year and last year was less than the year before.”

Obama often speaks in nonsequiturs. His speeches are about as well-construted as a salad.

Anyone notice how Romney dodged the question regarding the child tax credit?
For a guy who supposedly has all the “facts and figures” why does he use imaginary numbers when describing tax credits?

What you appear to fail to see is what our President said right after his words on an act of terror. He spoke of that act we mourned “TODAY”. But nevermind. You can have the last word. Not worth me continuing to bother arguing with you over and over about it. I understand this subforum’s majority promotes the Republican agenda here. Peace.

It was odd to stage the event in a state where the “undecided” are all liberals. Their response to Obama’s claim about the Rose Garden speech showed they were waiting for him to win that exchange.

Which is bad for Obama - he needed a decisive victory to stop Romney’s momentum. He didn’t get it. I am watching the debate now - having only heard snippets on the radio while at work, and Obama keeps whining to the moderator about the time keepers. How annoying. It turns out he got more speaking time even. Obama is stronger definitely, but Romney is actually doing better than I previously thought. So maybe a draw.

I’ve been discussing the debate for several pages. Thanks for coming in late and claiming I’m off topic. 😛

As I posted before, most of us have pretty much decided who to vote for. If you can’t have fun, I fully understand. You are 3rd party voter…no fun allowed!!! :tsktsk:

Vanguardian, that gets hammered out in the negotiations with congress. Reagan worked with Tip O’neil to get rid of loopholes. this whole effort to get Romney to give specifics is nothing more than a disengenuous “gotcha” attempt. If he doesn’t do what he says he’ll do, he’ll get hammered in the midterms and will lose re-election and I think he knows that.

Neither Obama, nor the moderator questioned Romney’s stand to lower rates on the middle class, but Obama denied, that Romney neither can name one loophole to close, nor one program to cut. Romney neither mentioned loopholes, nor programs to cut: only lowering tax rates for the middle class, that would free their income to stimulate their small businesses, that might in the future, generate more revenue for some governments. I never heard a question on the matter, and I never heard Romney claim, that he would either cut programs, or loopholes, in tonight’s debate. It seems unreasonable to conclude on the basis of a question, unanswered – were it in fact, ever asked – to equate Obama with Romney. Romney to me is the better man of the two, very clearly. His stand to neither allow businesses, nor governments, a place to control whom has contraception is better than Obama’s position. His position on energy policy, independance, and private industry is better than Obama’s stated total government control of all energy resources. Romney’s five point plan and credentials to implement it both as a businessman, and politician, and I am inclined to say, statesman, above politician, exceeds Obama’s past record across the past four years of failed policies; additionally, I believe Obama to be a radical: hell bent on destruction of this country’s freedoms. Obama stated again he Got Osama; however, the families of deceased members of SEAL TEAM VI are questioning now the apparent widespread mishandling of U.S. Armed Forces by Obama, which appear to be the cause of SEAL TEAM VI being shot-down along with other special forces, and the like. Obama has mishandled both foreign policy, domestic, and failed to negotiate across aisles in congress, when congress seats became occupied by more Republicans, and Obamacare is opposed by Romney. Romney in my opinion, by far is the better man, and it is a shame we lost him to McCain.

Also “odd” to always have these debates moderated by liberal Democrats. Why can’t Brit Hume or Chris Wallace moderate a debate? Both are highly respected journalists. Their problem is that they work for the “right-wing” Fox network. The more I watch the debate on TV, the more I think Romney held his own. Obama improved, but I don’t see how it will change the momentum of Romney.

Ishii, it’s not bad for Obama if CO independents thought Obama won and if he holds OH. But btw no offense was meant by calling you a Romney poster. Just wasn’t sure I could refer to a specific poster by name. 🤷 Peace and have a good night.

I think Hume moderated one of the debates in 2004, but I could be wrong. At least they pick the more “moderate” left wing moderators. 😛
