But in that case one is clearly better than the other. I’m not convinced of that in this case.
Perhaps researching would help. Those things done in the previous administration to oppose abortion are exceedingly well documented in numerous threads on CAF. Those things done in this administration to promote abortion and homosexual “marriage” are equally well documented. Never did Romney actively persecute the Church. The worst he ever did was say the abortion mandate in the Mass. statute (the portion in which his veto was overridden by Democrats in the legislature) really was the law, which it was. Obama has said he would want his daughter to kill his own grandchild if she wanted to, and opposed providing medical care to infants born alive from botched abortions.
How many contrasts do you really need?
On a more secular level, Romney has spent a big part of his lifetime figuring out what things lead to financial success and what leads to failure. Reversing economic failure is precisely what venture capitalism is all about, and Romney was demonstrably good at it, as demanding as that is. Obama’s background was in getting people to force others to pay tribute to his organizations.
I know a lot of business people, and have a business myself. In business, one has to win by presenting the other fellow something good for him. You can’t just order your customer to deal with you. He must perceive that he’s getting something more valuable than he’s giving for it, or there’s no deal. And you can’t get away with it very long unless you really meet that requirement. That’s Romney’s background, and his skill; a very demanding skill that requires attentiveness and understanding of others.
Leftist government is about force, not consent. Who consented to the HHS Mandate? Nobody but Obama. Who consented to Obamacare? A bunch of Democrats who feared for their political lives at the hands of Pelosi and Reid if they didn’t tow the line. Certainly the American public didn’t consent to it. Most opposed it and still do.
Would you rather have a head of state who finds ways to legitimately persuade, or one who is into forcing people to do what they don’t want to do?
Seems pretty clear to me.
