Priest Calls out Vigilantes in bulletin
Well the architecture is mission style and I understand they are currently in a capital campaign so there is still time.

He did once fight off a large violent dog that was attacking sheep which belong to the little old lady who lives on the property. Using only his bare hands.

Free baptism. Immersion style only. Extra long underwater duration.

Don’t come underdressed to his service…

Here’s a controversial thought:
If the lawman was doing his job (upholding a sense of decorum in church, and communicating expectations and norms), then there would be no need for the vigilantes. Maybe? 🤣

One thing about having the dress code sign out front, it’s clear and non-confrontational. No one can say they haven’t been informed.

Two issues there.

One, it’s the holidays, which means you’re likely to have a lot of people who don’t attend regularly. Even without that, there will always be people who aren’t there regularly. Unless we are to start turning people away at the door.

Two, we don’t necessarily know if he even supports the vigilantes. We don’t know what the people rebuked were actually wearing. It’s possible the people rebuked were clearly dressed immodestly, but it’s also possible that the vigilantes have higher standards than the priest feels necessary.

Don’t forget the priest’s message also said people were getting “fraternally corrected” on the way they “behave”. I bet somebody’s kid cried too loud in church again.

Those vigilantes and their standards!

I basically have one outfit that I wear everywhere. If someone approached me and ‘corrected’ me I’d just respond “cool, you wanna buy me a suit?”

Just when I thought I’d seen it all in a modesty thread I go on CAF sabbatical and come back to HOLY WATER IN THE WASHING MACHINE! 🤣 😂

It’ll be the next miracle. A bit of holy water transforms all those sinful miniskirts and spaghetti strap tops into prairie dresses.

Because we continue to have issues with a few people who take it upon themselves to secretly correct others on the way they dress or behave. Though there is a time and a place for fraternal correction, the way it is being done here is uncharitable, completely out of place and destructive of the parish.
Here’s what I don’t get about this fact pattern: how can it be “secret” if there’s a face-to-face fraternal correction? To me, secret would me someone somehow anonymously corrected them (like leaving an unsigned note).

I’m guessing the priest actually meant “privately” correct others (face-to-face, one-to-one as opposed to a more public correction like a parish sign for everyone). Or I’m missing something? 🤔

I presume that also means that the people who scold a woman for wearing a headcovering with “We don’t do that kind of thing here”, complain that said women are 'just trying to call attention to themselves and are upsetting and distracting" or laugh behind their missalettes at the “prairie skirt family” would be considered ‘vigilantes’ as well. 🤔

Sure. Also, prairie skirts are awesome and I wish they’d come back in style around here. Less fuss for those of us with bigger hips.

Really hard to tell without photos, right? Are some folks just too casual for others’ tastes, or is it like, best of late-nite Walmart?
(If the latter, I’d rather not see the pix, thanks)

I keep wondering why the late 80s are being constantly regurgita-- I mean, reborn, i.e. tunics and leggings, leopard prints, bed heads, and ugly colors. . .and not the late 70s. . .longer length skirts, classic silhouettes, cute short dos (thank you Dorothy Hamill) as well as Farah feathers for longer hair. . .

Maybe they’re wearing astro-sign medallions and patchouli oil?
