Problem with movies always have naked women

Let’s see… the empowerment of women by becoming men or debasing themselves… ah… nope, I didn’t come up with that practice.

I Love this Catholic term: human dignity.

This means that both the male and female are of equal value even if they hold different strengths and weaknesses.

Teaching that women can be man is not empowering women is making woman inferior unless they equate themselves to man.

So while I support women empowerment (which is what feminism should be about), I cannot condone, ‘my baby’s father and my other baby’s father or are you talking about one of three who could be my baby’s father’ as an exemplary of success.

Nor is it a woman being the “man” or the “king” the apex of womanhood.

It is never clear what this word really entails, and different people might have quite different concepts of it I think. I suspect it’s the kind of word (label) best avoided.

Hi, Jamie!

So if a score does not score is not enjoyable?

…the problem is that even in those “family” and “wholesome” the infiltrators are racking in the sex and violence.

It’s like the drug dealers giving free samples to get kids hooked!

The problem is that you have bought into the sexualized culture; you probably could not buy a single product unless a commercial showed you how sexy you are by using it or how appealing you’ll become to your “significant” other.

…the h, you say!

So I’ve been taking my showers wrong all these years?

Angel

So how do you distinguish between a feminist and a feminist?

as long as sex sells, the movie industry and television industry will continue use it. All anyone can do is decide if they are going to purchase a ticket to see said movie which may contain such things or not. or Buy the DVD. Usually gore, sex and violence are used by lazy writers to fill in plots of a tv or movie but again it sells. All anyone can do is just calm down and not let it run their life.

Elsewhere, a caricature of racism and now a caricature of feminism.
Let’s see… the empowerment of women by becoming men or debasing themselves… ah… nope, I didn’t come up with that practice.
I think the caricature of feminism being about “becoming men” is inaccurate and really, really dated.

I’m on board with this. Unless it means pigeonholing men or women into gender roles that are social constructs then I"m just mostly on board with that.
Teaching that women can be man is not empowering women is making woman inferior unless they equate themselves to man.
Again, a caricature I haven’t heard in a while. If you phrased it in a different way, and not something said by someone Phyllis Schlafly-esque maybe it would come a little closer to reflection what feminism is about.
So while I support women empowerment (which is what feminism should be about),
Yup…
I cannot condone, ‘my baby’s father and my other baby’s father or are you talking about one of three who could be my baby’s father’ as an exemplary of success.
Oh, boy. You really lost me with this. The only women I might hear this from are not feminists, or maybe they would be be if they could define it, IDK but usually they are people with serious mental health or chem dep issues. Even the young women who are setting up household, or planning to have children with their boyfriend think they are traditional. But the multiple baby daddies? They are from homes broken not by divorce but drugs, mainly alcohol, or domestic violence.
Nor is it a woman being the “man” or the “king” the apex of womanhood.
:sigh: That isn’t remotely what this feminist wants.

As one gets older, movies and music are the only things that bring meaning and happiness to one’s life, at least for a lot of people.
I like a good old movie and a song as much as the next guy, but if I had to depend on either one for “meaning and happiness” I’d be a really sad case. What about books, one’s own memories, travel, food, friends, pets, and Jesus and Mary?

Feminism: the belief in the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes.

That’s it; that’s the whole definition.

People argue that other beliefs promote feminism; but, that’s a different discussion than arguing against feminism.

Feminism: the belief in the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes.
Feminism has become one of those words like racism where everybody has got their own idea and hangups about what it means. I tend to just say I’m for equality to avoid either some woman assuming I’m in favor of abortion or some man going off on a weird tangent like what’s happening here.

My 13 yr old son loves old movies and classics! He likes Avengers and stuff too, but he’s the only kid in his circle of friends that has seen almost all the Abbot and Costello movies half a dozen times each; thinks Dick van Dyke and Danny Kaye are hilarious; and will toss out quotes from I Love Lucy, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Court Jester, and many more. His birthday last year was Star Trek TOS, and none of his friends recognized the original characters. Shoot, half the parents didn’t either. lol

Old movies and tv shows have their own set of problems, but those are more easily corrected than the trash that passes as entertainment in most shows and movies today.

Sideline Topic … just a vocabulary clear-up … nude and naked

people are nude, things are naked … people can ‘feel’ naked, but are actually nude
Perhaps a personal preference for you? People can, in fact, be naked, as in “naked without shame.”

Hi, I know my statements may seem dated… but all you need to do is look at television/news… let’s look at the accomplishments in film/shows: ‘she’s the man’ or ‘she has a pair of…’ or ‘she’s the king;’ all these are descriptive of how a woman can only be acclaimed to success or strength if she is considered a man.

Why can’t the scripts say, ‘she’s the woman’ or ‘she’s the queen’ or 'she has fortitude (or whatever adjective deems strength of character and mind)?

Even as the females in hollowood are described as “actors,” this is demeaning since a woman cannot command the same respect as a man unless she is ‘the man.’ Why can’t an actress command the same respect as an actor if they are both leading artists?

Ever noticed how the movies are presented? You would think that there are only guys in the movies as the credits do not reflect even the leading females (unless the movie is about a leading woman).

Further, why is it that even today scripts have both male and females using the male and female genitals to determine who is the strong/able/gutsy person and who is the weak/needy/impotent person?

I’m a guy and it hurts me when I hear an actress demean another person as 'you p…" or “b…?”

While I do agree with you that the drug/gang culture facilitates that “baby’s daddy” thing, it is sad that, along with the said values above, this is what children are being indoctrinated into–a culture where the female can only equal man if she is morphed into a man and where the ultimate achievement of “freedom” for women is becoming as calloused and womanizing (is there an equal term? manizing?) as her male counter part.

As for feminist, when they fight for the “right” of females to kill their babies in their wombs because they do not have the commonsense or decency to take charge of their bodies (self-control) and instead are spreading their legs for the thrill of the moment, I cannot but think that it is a failed/bankrupt enterprise.

Remember the old adage, ‘two wrongs don’t make a right?’

You know most of the writers, directors, and producers are men, yeah? Women are banding together to get their work on the screen and not taken over by men in the business. When I read what professionals, celebrity types, and non- public figures talking about the achievements of women they don’t use those terms and others who do are called out.
Even as the females in hollowood are described as “actors,”
Why does the job title need to be feminized when actor is gender neutral.

It is not demeaning. being called an actor doesn’t suggest that a female actor is a man. I think the way you are parsing this is odd, like when people use the term “male nurse.”

And as far as commanding respect: Are you aware of the power imbalance in the entertainment industry? Have you heard about how one of the most powerful men in Hollywood abused and demeaned women for decades? How the women continued to deal with him so they or their career wouldn’t be destroyed by this man. Read the stories that have come out so far. He’s far from the only dirty one. James Woods tweeted-ranted about the indecency of a romance between a 17 year old and a 24 year old but he tried to pick up a couple of actresses in their teens when he was in his 50s.

The main way that women are making head way in the industry is getting projects that have women in all significant positions from start to finish. What they lack is financial backing of the industry. Many are self-funded if they have the money but most are crowd-funded.
Ever noticed how the movies are presented? You would think that there are only guys in the movies as the credits do not reflect even the leading females (unless the movie is about a leading woman).
Yes, I’ve notices but I’m not seeing what your seeing. I’m not really sure what your point was here.
Further, why is it that even today scripts have both male and females using the male and female genitals to determine who is the strong/able/gutsy person and who is the weak/needy/impotent person?
Who are the writers again? Oh, that’s right, men.

Your concluding query makes the point that I am making.

It is not about dressing up a woman (actor) but about respecting a woman.

This is what is missing in the culture, which hollowood perpetrates.

Could you imagine going back to them times when women were not allowed to be on stage (all characters were portrayed by males)?

This is the power women have to walk out on the system; but rather than this they accept terms as “actor” and “sir” as what I have already stated.

The culture cannot be changed until women demand the respect they deserve. I know that reality bites. But women were persecuted because they wanted to learn skills other than cooking and cleaning and buying into the “housewife” thing. They suffered those persecutions (at times it may have cost some of them their lives)–that’s true feminism!

While I don’t have the answers for all the ills; I know that just posting bandages here and there is not the answer. Today more than any other time (internet) women, at least in the free world, can speak loudly against those issues and stop taking the faux diamond-encrusted tiara as the sign of respect.

You are making the point that women’s voices continue to be drowned out, their ideas shoved aside so men can thrive? Yeah, I guess I missed that point.

Okay…

I can imagine it and think a tiny number of people think that would be ideal if we have entertainment at all but I don’t see it happening and I also don’t get your point.

Um…actor is a job, gender is not necessary. And “sir”? What are you talking about? I need a context. Women don’t have to be sir, they are called “madam.” If sir is used then it’s the convention of the organization not have women members or have them in leadership positions. The Gloria Steinems of the world didn’t promote the idea of women being called sir. That’s just silly. You’re losing me…

You’re kidding, right?

I took the bait didn’t I? I’m thinking you don’t believe a word you’re putting out there.

Women have always been industrious. It has been certain cultures, patriarchal cultures that have diminished the roles women could have and blamed them for the failings of men. Big man-babies abused their physical strength and oppressed women. Men are willing to hand off power and some, most it seems, are really reluctant to share it with women.
While I don’t have the answers for all the ills; I know that just posting bandages here and there is not the answer.
You know what? Bandages are probably all we got. It’s not like there is a one-size-fits-all solution. You may think “if only thus and so would happen then all would be swell” but it probably will suck for me. Your idea doesn’t have more credibility than mine, except that it will because you are a man. Two layers of superficiality: that your idea is better and it must be better because you are a man.
Today more than any other time (internet) women, at least in the free world, can speak loudly against those issues and stop taking the faux diamond-encrusted tiara as the sign of respect.
Wut? Are you talking about pageants?

Hi!

Sorry for the misunderstandings.
You’re losing me…
I’m talking about the pseudo respect that it pretends; films and shows addressing women as “actor” or, in a military scene, as “sir” to pretend to denote respect for the female–yet this comes at the price of the female having to morph into a male personal.
You’re kidding, right?
No. Do you not see the hollowood syndrome being played out where the female must accept the womanizer, cheater, abuser, disabler or she has no value in a relationship? (Tangent: recently I was schooled on the evils of feminism; it seems that a man can’t slap a woman to put her in her place anymore–this is the romantic notion of machismo being translated to 'my baby’s father or my other baby’s father.)

So what is being sold, is that faux-diamond encrusted tiara (pretense of respect:
jcrichton:

Today more than any other time (internet) women, at least in the free world, can speak loudly against those issues and stop taking the faux diamond-encrusted tiara as the sign of respect.

) and 'women can’t but accept ‘life as it is.’

Human dignity demands that females be treated with the same respect accorded to males–even if their job is simply (which is a misnomer) running the home.
Women have always been industrious. It has been certain cultures, patriarchal cultures that have diminished the roles women could have and blamed them for the failings of men. Big man-babies abused their physical strength and oppressed women. Men are willing to hand off power and some, most it seems, are really reluctant to share it with women
Exactly; what I am saying is that females must not emulate the wickedness of the morally corrupt but fight for their rights even if it means that they are not as well-off financially or even if their “progress” are met with scorn, disdain, and obstacles.
You know what? Bandages are probably all we got. It’s not like there is a one-size-fits-all solution. Your idea doesn’t have more credibility than mine, except that it will because you are a man. Two layers of superficiality: that your idea is better and it must be better because you are a man
But that’s just it; you should not accept that. You should challenge me (the world) but do so not to be me or allow me to patronize you… demand an equal exchange by proposing and doing what is conductive to human dignity.
