Exactly. So if you scale the original statement to the population you are you are talking 500 converts to 32 converts. The 500 vs 32,000 is misleading.

I got my niece a Douay-Rheims Bible, it was published before Pope Francis became Pope, so it only lists Peter to Benedict XVI (though I wrote Pope Francis in) in the back of it. If it was something that was “made up”, why would we have kept such records, when doing so could have had us killed? Have you ever read the Didache? That has a good summary about early Christian beliefs and dates from the first century.

I took a look at the CARM forums and these people are soooooooooo hostile toward Catholics. I knew anti-Catholicism existed but these people are just so rude.

The argument that seems to come up the most is they keep insisting Catholicism is man made. Despite attending a Catholic school for 8 years with a “Religion” class but not Catechism class, most of what I’ve learned about our Faith has come from online, including CAF.

So…my question. How do we know that our Faith is the first Christian Church and really does go back to Jesus Himself, and St.Peter?
You see, CARM is a problem for all Christians not just Catholics. The “Christians” on CARM are equally justified in their positions as any other non-Catholic Christian and there is no definitive way for either side to argue who is right. There are many good Christians here on CAF but even they cannot authoritatively correct the people on CARM leading to confusion within Christianity. This is not the case in Catholicism.

To answer your question - is our God a God of confusion?

Peace!!!

The bible verse that you could refer to is the “You are Peter…and on this rock, I will build my church.”
I can’t remember what verse or what book that was from. Friends, would you help me out?
I know Fauken already answered your question, but as someone who will also know a Bible verse but not remember chapter and verse, I find Google is actually pretty useful so long as you remember some of the key words. With all the online Bibles, one of them is bound to come up at the top. So it’s been helpful for me when I can’t remember chapter/verse.
I just recently bought the Didache.
Out of curiosity, where from? I honestly wouldn’t have expected it to be sold given how short it is.

I bought it on Amazon. What do you mean by “short”? It’s a decent sized Bible.

Hope,

The Didache and the Didache Bible are two completely different things.

Here is a link to the text of the Didache from the New Advent website.

The brief time I visited the site as a member, there were some people who said things I have never heard before. I don’t know which anti-catholic preacher they get these arguments and ideas from, but it could get nasty. I also noticed I was becoming more and more depressed during this time, so I had to stop going there. It did help me become less scathing, (eventually) on this site when answering a non-catholic.

These are people (on the site you are talking about) who I imagine spend their time by passing out anti-catholic tracts at universities and malls.

There isn’t a sure way to convince them. No amount of arguing will work. No number of links to videos of people succinctly explaining our faith will help. You can’t reach them to knock them over the head with a brick, so… Sometimes they have to respond to the holy Spirit who can knock them over the head, or kick them in the biscuit far more effectively than people.

At some point in their life I hope they see a verse in the Bible they never saw before, or suddenly understand something clearly; a light goes off, possibly in a time of grief or fear, or crying out to God.

I’ve never received an anti Catholic tract from anyone but I have received letters from JWs, which I never even read.
I don’t know if they bashed Catholicism or not.

I haven’t read them either. An example of anti-catholic tracts would include Jack Chick tracts. As a kid I had those and handed them out to people. Not all of them were about Catholics, but some were.

I’ve never seen a Jack Chick tract either. DH was raised Baptist and he never saw one, either.

It’s actually rather sad how some protestants are so anti-catholic (I say this as a protestant). The issue I think is that many protestants are scared when they see the ‘bells and smells’ of a Catholic Mass, and don’t bother to try to understand it all.

Go to 10:40 on this video - I read the entire chapter today -
And reading it - from the Eucharist believing angle -
I was glad !

My personal experience is rather.

“Oh they are Catholic… what would you like to have for lunch”.
