If you mean correct their doctrine / theology etc., you could do it if you created a watertight argument using only the bible and no other authority. Essentially, you’d have to argue on their ‘turf’.
Why do you present the statistics in so one-sided a fashion? Saying mass carried the death penalty during Elizabeth I’s reign, and while that was not executed early in her reign, over 80 Catholics were executed, including priests and catholics who harbored them. The bitter blood went both ways, in more places than England.Hope1960:![]()
Perhaps it has something to do with religious wars, when “Protestants” or people with a viewpoint that differs from the RC POV, were burned at the stake. It is not that much fun to be tied to a stake and have maggots crawling over you and then they burn you? And they point to Tyndale, who was burned at the stake after translating the Bible into English. Why do so many people on that site dislike us so much?
On January 21, 1535, in the aftermath of “The Affair of the Placards,” French Protestants were burned at the stake in front of the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. During the reign of Catholic Mary I of England (1553–1558), there were more than 100 Protestants burned at the stake.
I didn’t mean to imply it does. The point was that there is no corrective authority outside or mechanism Catholicism.adf417:![]()
I have to ask.. This is not the case in Catholicism.
How can a Catholic authoritatively correct a non-Catholic? It has never been done and I am intrigued how it can be done?
Please see post # 32 ( approximate number). I said that 70000 or so were executed under Henry VIII and 290 Protestants under Mary I.Why do you present the statistics in so one-sided a fashion?
Are you saying Christianity has no definitive way of clearing up confusion? And from me I mean no disrespect when I say and really try to convey this on Catholics. From a Protestants point of view it is not any different! As in really none at all!
I am sorry but if you have a little understanding of history then you would see “church for what it was”.It isn’t something the Church would do as it would be against the teachings of the Church.
You continue to compound the confusion to the readers here. Can you explane where this “maybe” would come from for those who would be searching? The people on CARM think they know. Do they find it there?Maybe.
Just depends who you talk to.
And here I include everyone!
