NotWorthy, it is ok to drink as long as you do it with measure. Jesus drank wine and Paul tells Timothy to drink more wine instead of water. Getting drunk is a sin, drinking is not. Now if you one does not know how to control oneself and even a drink can be a stumbling block, then one should not drink at all. Known thyself.

That is the same joke my FIL priest told except it was catholic insyead of baptist.😉

Im an OSAS believer and I am also a firm believer in doing works, and praying and going to church.

As a matter of fact my church teaches OSAS and at service today the minister mentioned that 67% of our congregation actually serves in some ministry within the church.

That is a large number:D In many churches you get 20% of the people doing 80% of the work.

My point is you cant even group OSAS believers in your sweeping generalization.😦

Although I am well aware of the first part, and I didn’t mean to imply that all drinking is sinful, but…
the underlined and bolded part apply directly to me. It is far better for me not to take the first drink, for that is the easiest one to turn down.

what is OSAS? only scripture all scripture or something?
Pentecostals are scripture-based

I would go further and say that in our local parish 10% (or less) do 90% of the work
 
I don’t think it is about personal glory… I don’t need or desire glory, It is about glorifying God not ourselves. Techno2000, if you desire glory, then I fear your priorities are in need of realignment. If I can spend all eternity serving and glorifying God, that is the greatest honor I can think of… to be a part of the communion of saints doing the will of God.

Where did you get the impression it is about personal glorification?

NotWorthy, Gotcha! 👍 Nowadays, above on in special ocassions, such as toasts and others, turning down one drink might not be polite. But, anyway, I will not ask anyone to drink they don’t want to. Prayer always helps though! :gopray2:

I’m sorry… I wish I could garden right now. Trying to get down to ground level with a cast on your leg just doesn’t work well. I would gladly switch places with you right now if I could. I love getting into the soil and planting flowers… it always makes me feel closer to God and all his creations. Maybe you could offer it up as a gift for the love of your husband?
