I have half-brothers too and I do not need to refer to them as half-brothers. Brothers would suffice. The answer is that we may not really know for sure.

Of course it was possible! They were legally married. Joseph accepted and supported her vow of chastity.Also, see Matt. 1:25a, which says: “But he had no union with her UNTIL she gave birth to a son.”
So it is possible that they had sexual relations after Jesus was born. I am not saying this this as a certainty, but that we should be open to the POSSIBILITY.
