Still tring to figure out the theme of this thread; “Protestants:Could you do us all a favor?”:confused:What favor would that be? It seems like we’re in a discussion about fallibility, and infallibility, who is who isn’t! I tend to believe, that with the exception of Jesus, all those who wear(wore) flesh are fallible! Those who were chosen by God, to interpret and record His Word, did so infalibly, because of His direction! Not sure who these men are(with the exception of the apostles)!

once you realize there is only One Church the rest is easy…

so why do you not think its the Catholic Church?
I don’t speak for moondweller (to say the least!) but if I thought that the Catholic Church taught that “The Pope is infallible whenever he speaks on faith and morals” then I’m pretty sure I, too, would have trouble accepting it as the one true Church. Thank goodness I’m well-informed about what the Church really teaches!

well the RCC goes back to the time of the apostles…

Name one other christian “church” that does???

PRmerger: Not sure if that is a compliment or an insult! One of the things I love about being a non-denominational Christian, is the lack of a title; other than believer!👍

Personally, I tend to think that it isn’t necessary. The total number of denominations is an interesting statistic, but it doesn’t really do much for us practically (excepting, of course, those who statisticians :D).
i think it is necessary because we humanoids need to be shown how - the extent to which - the Word of God has been … misinterpreted…

The # of denominations in the Christian world shows something, namely that it is not easy to infallibly interpret the Scirptures… it even says that in the bible itself… 1st or 2nd Peter… about how no scritpure is to be privately interpreted…

It is to be publicly interpreted by an infallible Church…

The pope is not infallible in all he says and does… he is only infallible when speaking for Jesus Christ… in ex-cathedra statements…

one criterion is that he has to be addressing the entire Church body (there are a number of other criteria that must be met for it to be considered an infallible teaching)… Maybe someone here knows the other ones…

in any case… it is not like God to NOT give us a totally trustworthy Church…

Surely you can agree w/ that?

i just posted about the criteria that is necessary for it to be an infallible teaching… I cna’t recall , at this time, all the criteria… but it is nOT like the pope can just say something casually and the whole Church needs to “jump and run” or what have you…

If i were not Catholic and hadn’t studied this to some extent, i may not understand it myself… probably wouldn’t… but one thing that helps me very much to understand the charism of infallibility is the Real Presence inthe Church (24/7)…

if i could be in Christ’s Presence most of the day … I’m sure i would speak infallibly more often than i do… myself.

But that’s rather beside the point… (except for the point that …

those who liv in Christ’s Presence… are more to be trusted in their teaching ability, obviusly, than those who do not)

distracted:The discussion about which church was the one founded by Jesus, has become one which is no longer debatable! On the Judgement Day, it will no longer matter what church you were a part of on eath;) Ther will not be nametags, identifying you as a catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, etc. Jesus will come for His Bride, and I for one, will be proud to be counted in that number:thumbsup:Ever Loyal To The Saviour; Never Questioning!!!

Why would calling your belief a Catholic belief be an insult on a Catholic Forum? 🤷

That’s like an Asian person telling you, “You look like you could be Asian” and your saying, “So, is that an insult?” Umm…no…unless you think looking Asian is insulting.

CATHOLIC!!! (Roman Catholic!):D:D:D
wow… that’s awesome…

congratulations… 🙂

have you posted your testimony (as they call it in the non-Catholic churches)??

i (& others here) enjoy conversion stories…

yes but there are other lacks to deal with as well…

for one thing - biggest thing - the Real Presence…

What’s puzzling is that in post #466 Zundrah says she recently went to a Catholic Mass for the first time and was denied Communion because she’s not Catholic.

only one problem:

we are not at Judgment Day yet… (technically)

in the meantime, we need to find the Church Jesus started… (well, i don’t… i already have:))

and belong to it… because Jesus and only Jesus knows how best to deal with … whatever we need to deal with in order to get purified sufficiently to… get to Purgatory, much less Heaven… He is the one who knows what to do with our souls… how to get us on that narrow road to Heaven (st Mt 7:20… St mk 13:24)

when i am in the Real Presence i see things about myself that i don’t see anywhere else… and i mean anywhere else… and i see things about the world in general… that i don’t see anywhere else… etc…

we humans don’t naturally see things God’s way… not EVEN … most of the time we dont even come close (though we think we do because we humans tend to “create God in our own image”…).

anyway… .

you are right that we are all members of Christ’s body if we do what Jesus says… (which, by the way, is easier said than done… :()

all those denominations you listed are actually semi-Catholic (at least)… In other words, anyone who believes in Christ and knows and follows His way is already Catholic (my opinion & i believe the Church would more/less agree)…

yet Jesus wants all his children to enjoy all that His Church has to offer…

(Ok so some of it isn’t so “enjoyable”… because being purified is kinda… rough sometimes… but at least it is all good… and most is necessary and t hat’s what counts)

What I mean, is that I never question my Saviour:D I am becoming more humble, and more obedient, as I mature in my walk(Phil 1:6) So I am ever loyal to my King!

hmmm… that’s weird…

maybe she just meant to say she is becoming Catholic… and because she already believes what she knows of the Faith… she considers herslef Catholic??

the only problem is that sometimes we frail humans think we know what Jesus wants from us, only to find out (usually the hard way :crying::banghead::ouch:) that we went down a strange and not so “kosher” detour…

thank God we are saved by grace… otherwise we would be in some big trouble…

but that’s another story… (i have a whole truck-load of stories…) 😃

Well said. The Pope is infallible whenever he makes an ex cathedra statement – which is to say whenever, in the exercise of his office of chief shepherd and teacher of all Christians, he defines a matter of faith and morals to be believed by all.

(I just hope moondweller overhears our conversation. :D)
