Protestants: Have you changed your mind on anything "Catholic" because of something said on these forums?

Tell me…since I respond many times in kind, why am I the “uncharitable” one, yet the Catholic is not? Does the thought control really run that deep? What I think Catholics here find “uncharitable” is someone who speaks the truth and will not back down from it. Uncharitable would be for me to leave people in blindness without saying anything.
You are responsible for your own posts, not those of others. There is a procedure in place here to report uncharitable posts. Just click on the red triangular icon in the upper right of each post and type in your complaint. Someone else’s lack of charity does not excuse your own. Anyone who claims to be a Christian, and especially one who claims the title of “reverend” should know that and should act accordingly, which you have failed to do. For shame, coach.

Where did I say Catholics weren’t sometimes uncharitable also??? We can all be rude at times and some more often than others… it’s a downfall of being human.

I was referring to the fact that all Christians should act charitable and I would especially expect it out of a Rev… When you make comments like some of the ones you have it doesn’t often lead to a charitable response… As a leader of faith I would expect more charity out of you than some of the others on these forums.

Why would I believe your “truth” over someone else’s? say another Protestant that claims to have the truth… all of you tell us we’re wrong!!!, but you all say things that seem to contradict what I see as the truth, and what the early Christians described as truth… so tell me why would I accept your “truth” over the truth as told by men that were taught by the Apostles, when you can explain this to me you might have a chance of “getting me saved”.

If Scripture does not back up the church, then what is this?:

**BTW, if you persecute the Catholic church, aren’t you really persecuting its founder, just as Jesus said to Saul in Acts 9:4?
1.) Did Jesus Christ found the bible or the church?
Does the bible say it was the bible? NO, it says he founded his church (Matt.16:18)

2.) What is the Pillar and foundation of the truth?
Does the bible say it is the bible? NO, it says it is the church (1 Tim. 3:15)

3.) Who or what is the final authority?
Does the bible say it is the bible? NO, it says it is the church (Matt. 18:15-18

Ephesians 3:10
Acts 2:47
1 Cor 14:12
Acts 20:28
Eph 5:25
Eph 5:29
Eph 1:22-23, 5:23
Eph 5:27
Eph 5:24
Matt 16:18 and 18:17
Acts 5:11
Romans 16:23
1 Cor 1:2

**I can list many many more Scripture that tells of the church’s importance. The Catholic church on which Jesus Christ founded.
 a Catholic who knows Scripture???!!! will wonders ever cease???

😃

Some won’t even allow Catholics in and if they do they stone them upon entrance or when they start to challenge the other posters the mods will shut down the thread…

i went to a (I think) non-denom church today (should put quotes on church…)… & they passed this thing around 4 everyone to sign… in one spot it asked what church you go to… I said “Cahtolic”… The pastor read it before preaching & knew who i was (small place)… When it came time for visitors to intro themselves, he didnt let me say my name (like everyone else)… or where i was from (like eveyrone else)… He said my name for me andthen hurriedly skipped to the next person…

and people wonder why Catholics are so… hostile toward Protestants sometimes… In this case, the Prot was hostile 1st…

none of your…

Just kidding… 😃

i went because i had some “time to kill” & saw the “church” as i was driving by (No Catholic Church available at that time). The first church i saw was United Methodist but i know that they are very liberal & i didn’t wnat to hear a liberal sermon… so i went to the other one. the pastor didn’t say anything unorthodox-sounding but it was odd how they intermixed the sermon with talk of some community program they were doing with the city… some people just wanted to really get into details about that… veyr BORING! finally one guy seemed to read my mind & said that that should be talked about outside of “church”… 🙂 I left before it was over becasue i was just… well, for one thing, missing (terribly) the Real Presence… and the reverence that Catholics have for Mass… (Jesus)… Plus, just felt like a fish out of water… Also… can’t put my finger on this one thing, but it seemed that people instinctively knew that i wasn’t “one of them”… or am i just overly sensitive? but they didn’t seem so… friendly after the initial greeting… which was before any of them knew i was Cahtolic… I don’t know… maybe i am imagining things… (wouldn’t be the first time… 😃 ). The pastor talked a lot about why we are in Iraq… and the Israel - U.S. relationship…

yes, plus the fact that you name this board “Non-Catholic religions” it falsely portrays that such beliefs would be welcome to share here, and thus expect to be treated equally.
In terms of the forum such beliefs are welcome to be shared here – whether or not individual posters treat you in a welcoming way.

You wouldnt expect it from a rev? Thats funny coming form a person whose clerics have some track record. So now only non-catholic cleric need to be perfect…but to err is human for yours, is that how it goes? please.enough. Be consistent at least

lol. That doesn’t make sense, if someone goes to a protestant forum, yes, but it depends on the mod team at that forum, and the people their, you do not know whether we would be harsher to catholics then catholics are to us.
ChristianKnight,

I’m not going to try and make some kind of blanket statement about every Protestant forum. But I do believe that CAF compares favorably with Protestant forums in general.

for shame is the great catholic examples shown my posters here. And your disrepectful tone of my title is a perfect example.

in practice…no…they are NOT welcome.
Maybe so, but I notice that so far no one has taken up my challenge to show me a Protestant forum that behaves better toward Catholics than this one does toward Protestants.

thecoach;3978653 Tell me…since I respond many times in kind said:
.

Tell me…what is the truth?

And what do you base this truth on?
Uncharitable would be for me to leave people in blindness without saying anything.
You were uncharitable to me by not responding to my earlier post about what you base your truth on.

Practice what you “preach.”

Again, what do you base your truth on?

I have not changed any of my views on Catholicism that I had when I first arrived. I was very familiar with the history and teachings of the church before I got here anyway.

Thank you, Sepharad, for returning to the original poster’s original question!

I would’ve seen the pastor after the service and said “You want a piece of me?”.

Actually, I would’ve talked to him after the service and asked him what the problem was? You’d think to maybe have the opportunity to take a Catholic from away from the CC and convince him of his heretic ways would’ve pleased the pastor. 😃

To the extent that I have changed my mind on anything "Catholic", I would say that it would be despite these forums, not because of them.

There are many Catholics who know Scripture better than any Protestants. And how would you know, you are not Catholic.
Could that be turned back on you? I mean, how would you know, you aren’t protestant.

I think hyperbole can be kind of fun but your statement is beyond hyperbole.
