Protestants, Do you consider us catholics to be “saved” Christians? Why or why not?
Probably not. Can a person worship God , and an idol? In 1Corinthians 6:9 the Apostle Paul says an idolator has no inheritance in the kingdom of God. This Protestant believes that the Catholic Church worships an idol in the Mass: the bread and wine. Therfore it would seem that no Catholic who attends Mass can be saved.

Heh, probably good advice ALLFORHIM. It’s a poll that asked for an personal thoughts on a subject and he answered. I’ll just pray for him, and be glad that only what Jesus’ thinks of me counts. 🙂

I will pray for him also. Yes, it is true for all of us that we should be concerned what Jesus thinks of us.

Catholics do not worship IDOL PERIOD. The Holy Eucharist becomes Jesus. His Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity is TRULY Present. This is not Symbolic. This is REAL. Though hidden in the appearance of Bread and wine, he is Jesus.

First Cor 11 supports this.

26 For as often as you shall eat this bread, and drink the chalice, you shall shew the death of the Lord, until he come. 27 Therefore whosoever shall eat this bread, or drink the chalice of the Lord unworthily, shall be** guilty of the body and of the blood of the Lord**. 28 But let a man prove himself: and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of the chalice. 29 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh judgment to himself, not discerning the body of the Lord. 30 Therefore are there many infirm and weak among you, and many sleep. 1 Cor 11-30

Likewise, Jesus said,

51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven. 52 If any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever; and the bread that I will give, is my flesh, for the life of the world. 53 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying: How can this man give us his flesh to eat? 54 Then Jesus said to them: Amen, amen I say unto you: Except you eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, you shall not have life in you. 55 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath everlasting life: and I will raise him up in the last day. – Gospel of John 6:51-56

Idol Worship I think not. Not ever. Early Christians were accused of cabalism, and you wonder why, pagans accused them that. They were told Christians eat their God, and they Do.

We have no shame in that.

Let us look at the Protestant view on Real Presence.

John Calvin says regarding the Eucharist,

"This signifies My Body,

Martin Luther says,

THis becomes My Body the moment you eat it.

Jesus said, This is My Body.

Who is correct Jesus, John Calvin or Martin Luther?
