Let’s see, she was out with Dodi late at night coming from their Hotel, not married, so they must have been staying the night there.
Ok, right off the bat we have judgement. Now I’m not saying that I think the relationship between these two was platonic, however, it is really nothing more then conjecture and thus gossip to speculate in this way so, I won’t go any further with this. What I’d like to point out is that I remain confused because if you ask a fundamentalist about the behavior of another, and whether or not that person, in light of their public behavior, will go to heaven, (IOW, if you ask a fundamentalist about sin) they will first have to determine whether that individual “is saved” or “is born again.” To my ear, that sounds like they are judging the souls of others which I believe is the providence of God and God alone. So right here I have a question, does jrssls believe that the beloved Princess was not “born again” because in her judgement, Diana was engaging in mortal sin? Does that mean that no one who is “born again” or “saved by faith alone” can commit a mortal sin? Does our dear poster, jrssls, even believe in the distinction between sin that is mortal (deadly) and sin that is venial (not deadly)? Does jrssls understand that this distinction is not only biblical but also a part of the deposit of faith, Sacred Tradition, the whole deposit of which Christ left with the Catholic Church and so she could learn more about it and come to a better understanding of how conscience plays a role in determining what is and what is not mortal sin?
You are to be married if you are sleeping together. God says in I Thessalonians 4:3 - For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication. I Corinthians 6:9 - states, Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.
Many other scriptures also talk about fornication. About witchcraft, the Lord detests anything that comes from Satan - 2 Chronicles 33:6 - He sacrificed his sons in the fire in the Valley of Ben Hinnom, practiced sorcery, divination and witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did much evil in the eyes of the LORD, provoking him to anger. Deuteronomy 18:10-13 - Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD, and because of these detestable practices the LORD your God will drive out those nations before you. You must be blameless before the LORD your God.
Good job jrssls. You are correct in your understanding that these behaviors can all be considered mortal sin and are, in fact by the CC. My question to you would be, are there others? Would dis-honoring your parents be a mortal sin even if you didn’t think you had dis-honored them? Would the gossip we engage in from time to time be a mortal sin? Would refusing to educate yourself into the truth of the faith (the Gospel), the whole of which Christ delivered to His One Church, be deadly? What about pre-marital sex the night before one weds, what about birth-control, is using birth control a mortal sin? If you consider sex outside of wedlock to be a sin that negates ones salvation, in other words, “they are not really saved to begin with” then you negate not only your doctrine of salvation by faith alone but also your doctrine of OSAS. Do you see this? Can you reconcile for me, your doctrines of FA and OSAS with your belief that anyone who checks their horoscope in the paper is going straight to hell? I don’t understand. It seems to me, that in order for you to maintian your beliefs in Faith alone and in OSAS that you must expect that anyone who comes to believe in Christ as the savior must forever then, be perfect or they didn’t really believe in the first place. Is that right?
Jesus gives you that option to come to Him and does, “come to Him” mean that we won’t be capable of sinning after we “come to Him?” What exactly does “come to Him” mean? while you’re alive on earth, not after you’ve died to make the choice to come and receive Him.
On the face of it, depending on what “come to Him” means, exactly, this statement is Catholic teaching. The church does not teach that we can accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, after death and go to heaven. Christ came for the living, not for the dead. Purgatory is not a “second chance” as I’ve heard it defined by non-catholics.
Once you die, it’s heaven or hell, nothing in-between. Correct. Purgatory is not “in-between” heaven and hell. Purgatory is simply a state of being where one’s soul is purged of any remaining stain of sin. The Bible say, “nothing unclean will enter heaven” and that verse, from Revelations is ignored by non-catholics. Jrssls and SIA, can you respond to the verse that says “nothing unclean will enter heaven.” What does it mean?
My greatest confusion at this point is why you and other non-catholics will not believe what you are told about any given issue of contention, by a Catholic. It’s like you choose to persist in the mis-information you have recieved from non-catholic sources. Don’t you have an obligation to God, as an adult Chrsitian to honestly search for HIS One truth? Why do you persist in believing as truth, what Catholics have told you is false about thier own faith? This is what I don’t understand. It’s like Baptists who insist on telling me that I worship Mary and practice idolotry because there are statues in my church. No matter how much explaining I do, no matter how much scripture I show them they persist in believing this untruth about my faith. My unanswered question is, why?
Believe me, if tribulation was here, I would not be here right now. The rapture of the church has to go first and then tribulation.
How do you know this? The Bible does not state when the tribulation will occur. It does not say if the tribulation will preceed or proceed from what the Bible calls “rapture.” I’m not even sure the Bible uses the word “rapture.” Does it? I do know that what you think you know about the second coming (which btw, necessitates a third coming which the Bible doesn’t even hint at) is incorrect. So, your self condemnation is for not. The truth is jrssls, to one degree or another, you are in a state of sin. We all are. The problem is, you do not embrace the Biblical concept the Sacraments so you live without the Grace of Reconcilliation and you do not embrace the Biblical concept of Purgatory and your church, as it were, has no answer to what happens to a person who lived a life of faith, but fell short of perfection, and then died.
This is what I believe, once you are ready to make a change in your life and live for Christ. You ask Him for forgiveness, believe that he died on the cross for your sins and you learn every day how to live right for Him. You get into the Word and study it every day and have a prayerful life. You learn what He wants for your life when you study His word. Believe me, there’s no purgatory, that’s why you better live your life right while you’re alive.
Well good luck with this. How do you propose we live that perfect life? I for one know myself well enough to know that I am incapable of that perfection for any length of time. Am I doomed?
