Correction here,we know satan took the form of a snake from scripture its not a metaphor or mythology as you suggest ,yea i do understand we should not take every thing literally, but in this context its the fact that satan took the form of a snake which is literal as in the scriptures.the Bible is not only proves theological truths but surpasses time, space and as it is a complement to scientific truths ,in all spheres of knowledge in the world.scriptures and the teachings of the Catholic Church are the final say.
Genesis 3:1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any other wild animal that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God say, ‘You shall not eat from any tree in the garden’?” 2 The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden; 3 but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree that is in the middle of the garden, nor shall you touch it, or you shall die.’” 4 But the serpent said to the woman, “You will not die; 5 for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.”
Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,
John 17:17 Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth.
2 Peter 1:21 because no prophecy ever came by human will, but men and women moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
2 Peter 3:16 speaking of this as he does in all his letters. There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures.
