An 11 year old girl was molested and was impregnated, an abortion was just performed this morning. What is the Churchs’ stance on this?
Molestation is a gravely disordered action, a serious sin, and a crime. The person who did such an act should be reported to the authorities and arrested or committed to psychiatric care.An 11 year old girl was molested and was impregnated, an abortion was just performed this morning. What is the Churchs’ stance on this?
A very good point. People would be outraged and she would stand trial for murder of her infant. But the same folks think its right to kill the unborn baby of a rapist. Murder is Murder no matter what you call it.Analogy:
A woman gets herself impregnated thru IVF and a sperm bank (let’s leave aside the morality of IVF for a second). When the child is two weeks old, she finds out that the sperm donor was arrested and convicted as a serial killer. She immediately drowns the baby.
Was that morally right?
If you believe unborn children are persons, then you no more can suport killing them for the crimes of their parents than you can support killing born children for that fact.
Pro-lifers who support such exceptions don’t fully believe that the unborn are persons.
Uh, so what are you proposing, that she should have been Euthenized?She was 11 years old! Not a woman that could make a decision about having a baby. To let her go through pregnancy and labor is sick…just as sick as having an abortion, just as sick as being raped.
PSHAW!Uh, so what are you proposing, that she should have been Euthenized?
In a perfect world…It is as likely that this experience will do far more damage in the long run to this girl’s soul and psyche than carrying the child to term (with very very careful medical monitoring) and then allowing a caring couple to adopt the innocent baby would be.
How is giving birth to a child sick? You have a very myopic and narrow view of life in general; in many parts of the world women marry at the age of puberty and give birth not long after the marriage. do you consider that sick also?She was 11 years old! Not a woman that could make a decision about having a baby. To let her go through pregnancy and labor is sick…just as sick as having an abortion, just as sick as being raped.
No, murdering the baby would be even more sick.She was 11 years old! Not a woman that could make a decision about having a baby. To let her go through pregnancy and labor is sick…just as sick as having an abortion, just as sick as being raped.
You assume and yet you do not know me.You have a very myopic and narrow view of life in general;
I am a care director for teen mothers; ages 15-21. I have yet to meet one that thinks her baby is the light of her life. Then again that is why I’m working with them!whereas that baby might just be the light of her life.
Her being molested was sick. The fact of the matter is, she is a child, but her body was at least mature enough to conceive a baby. Pregnancy and labor aren’t “sick”, they are natural processes. Rape is not. Abortion is not. And furthermore, when that 11 year old grows up and thinks about having children of her own, she will have severe psychological trauma as a result of the baby that was killed, in addition to the rape she suffered. She will be more prone to depression, more likely to abuse any other children she has, and more likely to suffer sleep disorders, according to a recent study. Her risk for suicide will double. This is in addition to the health problems that abortion is responsible for, like increased risk for breast cancer and, depending on how “skillful” the doctor is and how many months pregnant she is, possible infertility. Most likely the worst that would happen with carrying the pregnancy to term would be a c-section delivery. You should check your medical facts instead of basing your responses on emotional appeals next time.She was 11 years old! Not a woman that could make a decision about having a baby. To let her go through pregnancy and labor is sick…just as sick as having an abortion, just as sick as being raped.
You are somewhat myopic; you haven’t even considered that the 11 year old should give her child up for adoption so it could be raised by a loving two parent family instead of a traumatized child. When the 11 year old grows up, she may wonder where her child is, but at least she’ll know they are out there somewhere, not refuse in a hospital incinerator.I am a care director for teen mothers; ages 15-21. I have yet to meet one that thinks her baby is the light of her life. Then again that is why I’m working with them!
Thank you for the pagan view. But I believe the initial post asked what the Church taught.… abortion would be an option.
Didn’t Jesus say that the innocence of children should be protected, not violated, that they should not be led astray? Did He not also say that we should not fear the one that can destroy the body but the one who can destroy both the body and the soul? Counseling a young girl into abortion is instructing her in evil ways. It is never a good idea to compound sin with sin. I think that in addition to the sympathy you have for the young pregnant girl, you should have sympathy for her younger, more helpless child. Her baby stands in need of protection and love as well.She was 11 years old! Not a woman that could make a decision about having a baby. To let her go through pregnancy and labor is sick…just as sick as having an abortion, just as sick as being raped.
Some of these mommies were raped.i suspect the reason they don’t have warm fuzzies for their children has less to do with the babies being a problem and more to do with the fact that they were having sex before they were ready for the possible consequences.
