Dom Anselme Le Bail, Abbot of Scourmont, 1913-1956; A Monk, An Abbot, A Community, by Dieudonne Dufrasne, O.S.B.

Moving Pictures by Terry Pratchett
An Oblique Approach *by *David Drake and Eric Flint, fiction for entertainment,
and

*Coming Soon: Unlocking the Book of Revelation and Applying Its Lessons Today *by Michael Barber, nonfiction for spiritual growth

I’m re-reading Mother Angelica’s Answers not Promises. I probably read it 20 or so years ago.

In the Heart of Darkness by David Drake and Eric Flint (Book Two of the Belisarius series)

Cassian the Monk, by Columba Stewart, O.S.B.

I’m also reading Lessons From Saint Benedict, by Donald Raila, O.S.B., which was suggested by a member here on CAF.

Just finished An Elephant for Aristotle by L. Sprague deCamp. The plot is that Alexander the Great sends an elephant from India to his old tutor back home & it follows the hardships of the hipparch (cavalry officer) in charge of the caravan in charge of getting it there.

Quiet by Susan Cain. It’s helping me feel a lot better with myself in being a introvert.

Christianity and Rabbinic Judaism, a parallel history. An utterly secular viewpoint, but otherwise solid so far.

Fortune’s Stroke by David Drake and Eric Flint (Belisarius saga IV)

I’ve been reading this wonderful old William James book called On Vital Reserves, which contains two of his essays, The Energies Of Men and The Gospel Of Relaxation. It’s a small hardcover the size of a paperback, and the whole thing is only 78 pages long. I’ve read it cover to cover once each day for fourteen days in a row. I want to thoroughly absorb it and make it a permanent part of me, and so I plan on continuing reading it once, staright all the way through, for many more days. I’m thinking maybe I’ll stop once I’ve read it fifty times. This is out of character for me, because while I read every day, I’ve never approached a book in this way before. If anyone else feels like giving it a try, maybe it will touch your heart in a similar way. I recommend it to one and all!❤️

This is the edition I have, except mine was printed in 1922 not 1911. It looks identical, though:

“No Woman So Fair” by Gilbert Morris. Into the biblical fiction lately.
