Another thing that most people miss is that in the psychological fields of Borderline Personality Disorder, Psychologists have (even in recent years) focused some on lesbians since these problems have been especially made pronounced in their communities… The latter accounts for the greater reports of domestic violence in their communities.
Of course, there are exceptions, I have a friend who was the child of a lesbian couple (however they divorced randomly but it seems one of the might have been Bisexual because she mentions now having a father).
"I can only speak for lesbians and not gay men - but it is my observation that the lesbian community has certain social dynamics that can nurture and reinforce BPD in ways that the straight community doesn’t, and it’s not really very acceptable for lesbians to critique their own community or call out bad behavior… which is a problem I’ve seen in other small subcultures as well. Of course, in the latter link, they try to explain the effect with different causes, but the problem still exists. But all the same it is difficult to p(name removed by moderator)oint causes and effects in psychology because of bias primarily. But it seems a natural lesbian is really rarer than rare. I’ve known females that have always been shifting their sexual orientation, and it was most likely because they had a very traumatic childhood. They confided to me one day that they had been sexually and physically abused as a child. She also was sent to the hospital after cutting herself too much one day. Her parents seemed rather neglectful, leaving her alone all day at the house with nothing to do. During this period she was not in school and did not have a job, nor could she drive which led to idleness and the advancement of her depression.
Another seems to have been mentally and emotionally abused as well as physically neglected and in a constant state of depression. Not because they were ‘butch’( they were somewhat charismatic to a certain audience) but because she went to the wrong school when they were young and everyone hated her just because. Then she lost her friends in some middle school drama after transferring (and I had something similar happen to me in middle school) and then they ended up finding refuge in Tumblr. (whose influence I blame for a lot of things) Meanwhile they lost a trusted adult to drug abuse and slowly began doing poorly in school because of depression.
I think that the professional in the first link is more on point than anything. It’s not exactly ‘homophobia’ that makes someone borderline.
I do also think pornography or overly sexualized imagery also contributes to some becoming SSA because I’ve seen it happen which can also lead down some very unhealthy roads for people.
