A majority of Catholics voted for candidates that support the INTRINSIC evil of abortion and an administration that supports the HHS mandate AFTER over and over being warned by out American Catholic bishops about the dire consequences of voting like that.

Prayers and Novenas were said all year long about the issue.

Now I don’t know if the majority of Catholic voters committed mortal sin or not–that is for God to decide–what I do know is that the devil was happy with the way they voted.

Wak up catholic america! As long as you keep voting for candidates that support the INTRINSIC evil of abortion you will keep having the scourage of abortion and the deaths of all the unborn crying out for justice.

some voted out of ignorance. Some voted out of fear for their health coverage (believing that Romney would take away medicare). Some thought Obama does better helping the poor (MORE people on food stamps? How is that HELPING them to become self sufficient when you add more?) but the fact that Planned Parenthood will probably get an increase in tax $ doesn’t concern very many (except those who fight abortion daily or almost daily) or contraceptives being handed out like candy (probably coming soon to your child’s school if they attend public schools…planned parenthood health “clinics” where they can get free condoms or contraceptives…without your knowledge…but they still need your approval for an aspirin). Or the fact that some charitable organizations run by the Catholic church may have to close due to fines they would have to pay under the HHS mandate for refusing to COVER contraceptives and sterilization and abortion for their employees health insurance. Never mind that many of these organizations DO help the poor…regardless of faith background…they just don’t hand out free cell phones (paid for by tax payers)

You need to review American political history and revise your statement. 23 African Americans were elected to Congress on the Republican ticket (starting in 1870) before the first African American was elected to Congress on the Democratic ticket (1935). The demographics have changed a lot more recently than 150 years ago.

It was just a generalization. Yes, African-Americans switched from Republican to Democrat during the civil rights movement. But who was on the side of Catholics when they were discriminated against? Democrats.

I wouldn’t say that the GOP has never been friendly to immigrants - Reagan signed an immigration bill into law that granted amnesty to 3 million illegals. The whole anti-illegal immigration issue has only recently become a big issue for many conservatives who see the large influx of new illegal immigrants as putting too much stress on our infrastructure. Historically conservatives valued the contribution of immigrants who work hard so that the next generations can be successful and contribute to the country. What we are witnessing now is the conflict between wanting to be compassionate to illegal immigrants seeking to improve their lives, and being a sovereign nation of laws. ** I believe that we need to do something to allow illegals who have been living here for years have a path to citizenship - there is no way to deport them all. However, if you are illegal and committ a crime - sayonara.** And we need to beef up our borders so we can stop the flow of new illegal immigration. So there is really two immigration issues: 1) how deal with those who have been living here x number of years. 2) how to prevent new illegals from entering. I think a Marco Rubio or Bobby Jindal could come up with a reform plan that makes sense and appeals to Latinos. I am not convinced that all legal Latinos and Mexican-Americans want unrestricted illegal immigration.

In fact, the Klan’s historical roots are with the Democrat party. And the Klan was notably anti-Catholic.

Interesting. I didn’t know that. But still, the Democrats were overall the party that welcomed Catholics more. The present day GOP has some antiCatholic factions with Evangelicals, but they still are the better party for Catholics.

It seems though too we should be wary at the price of being popular.

Just to be popular do we provide contraception and abortions to women? Just to be popular do we say open borders for all? No country has these kinds of open borders and we don’t either really though we could probably staunch the flow of illegal entry into the US.

Is it better to do these things just to be popular in the long run?

Because for the Democrats, this could relate to Israel too and that is an open question I know. However, I don’t think the US Administration should have encouraged protesters in Egypt while not giving any support for those in Iran.

In California, it taxes the system and guess what? Many people in Colorado and other Western States are resenting wealthy Californians coming into those states with progressive ideas.

It is because the majority of voters rejected the return to trickle-down economics, IMHO. I know that’s why I voted as I did.
