How has that type of rhetoric been working out? When you attack and insult people through words my experience has been that their minds snap shut.

Well, conservatives certainly didnāt, right? I mean we are all āone issueā voters, right?Really? No one discussed the middle East, the war, the economy, social security, healthcare, immigration, taxes, etc. etc.?![]()
Itās called ācognitive dissonanceā

Yep.What a hoot this is! All the Democrats are surrounding Ryan like a pack of wolves. Sometimes a deer has to be bleeding before a person can see the wolves emerge from the woods. But emerge they do.
Ryan was finished as a national candidate in November, 2012, but I guess heās symbolic for the left of all they hate, and particularly because heās Catholic. But there are still only four prolife democrats in the Congress according to NARAL and only four pro-abortion Repubs according to them. And the prolife Dems are shrinking in number as are the pro-abort Repubs. The Democrats are still the party of abortion and homosexual marriage, almost without exception. And their supporters are the supporters of abortion and the profanation of marriage every bit as much as Obama is, and every bit as much as the abortion ādoctorā himself is.
Democrat apologists continue in counseling despair to prolife, pro-marriage people. as I have said before, it reminds me of nothing so much as the āAgony in the Gardenā scene in āThe Passion of Christā where Satan tempts Jesus to despairā¦āYou canāt save them. No man can do it.ā
And itās the very same temptation to the sin of despair and the very same scandal.
Iām not a Republican. Never have been. But I am not so stupid as to see the evil in the Democrat party of today; a party of which I was once a very active part. The only way to oppose them is to support their opponents. Perhaps those who oppose the paganism of the Democrat party will not win everything with any one candidate or any group of candidates. But the moral imperative to oppose the profoundly evil is still there.
Donāt be fooled by the counselors to despair. There are plenty of them, including on CAF. If all Catholics voted against the Party of Death in even one election, the Dem party would have to change. Until that happens, it wonāt. it will get worse and worse. It thinks you all support abortion and homosexual marriage as much as it does, or at least that your moral fibre is so weak that you will even give them a pass when (as with the HHS mandate) they order Catholic nuns to provide contraceptives and abortifacients for themselves. Now that they have officially endorsed abortion and homosexual āmarriageā and begun acting to force it on even Catholic nuns, do you really think theyāre finished?
Donāt give them a pass. Ryan isnāt the issue. The evil of the Democrat party and its leaders is the issue.
Example A from someone who provides plenty of rhetoric and insults in opposition to Republicans. How has that type of rhetoric been working out? When you attack and insult people through words my experience has been that their minds snap shut.
So true, in fact I had Dems tell me that exact same thing during his first election.Thatās because Obama was a nod-and-a-wink supporter of traditional marriage. Gay rights advocates knew he was on their side. Catholic Democrats probably knew too, but a lot of them oppose the Church on such issues, so they didnāt care.
Can be bought is not the same as sold.So all we have to do is all vote Republican and that will fix this problem permanently? I donāt think the women are going anywhere. If there are no Democrats they will be coming after the Republicans. The Republicans can be easily bought too. Duh!
How did your choice in the general election do? Have your third party folks āfixedā anything yet? No? Duh!!So all we have to do is all vote Republican and that will fix this problem permanently? I donāt think the women are going anywhere. If there are no Democrats they will be coming after the Republicans. The Republicans can be easily bought too. Duh!
Iād counter that with a little bit of history but then I would get attacked for bringing up sensitive material from the 60ās and 70ās. There is nothing magical in the Republican Party that would detract women. If there were no Democratic Party, theyād simply break up the Republican Party. Oh, waitā¦Can be bought is not the same as sold.![]()
Oh, donāt think that info is so sensitive? Really, an offhand conversation on abortion the day after the SCOTUS ruled on the Supreme Court??Iād counter that with a little bit of history but then I would get attacked for bringing up sensitive material from the 60ās and 70ās. There is nothing magical in the Republican Party that would detract women. If there were no Democratic Party, theyād simply break up the Republican Party. Oh, waitā¦
If you are referring to abortion as āone issueā that many conservatives put first before other issues like tax, how is that a bad thing? It is not wrong to put the sanctity of life before other lesser issues. Foundation of Catholic social teaching is sanctity of human life.Correct, I donāt know too many Democrats who are āone issueā voters as Conservative Republicans seem to be.

- Not all moral issues have the same moral weight as abortion and euthanasiaā¦
Exactly. Iām sure that Publisher wouldnāt support candidates who supported rounding up Africans and using them for slave labor. That sort of āone issueā is the sort of moral outrage that is worth denying that candidate your vote.If you are referring to abortion as an āone issueā that many conservatives put first before other issues like tax, how is that a bad thing? If an elected official can not be trusted on seeking to protect and preserve innocent human lives then how can their judgment be trusted on other issues?Exactly. Iām sure that Publisher wouldnāt support candidates who supported rounding up Africans and using them for slave labor. That sort of āone issueā is the sort of moral outrage that is worth denying that candidate your vote.
ā¦but I guess I really shouldnāt bring up Democratic Party historyā¦
Exactly. And, when great moral evil is involved - slavery, genocide, infanticide, etc. - that issue takes greater precedence. Those who ignore such evil and actually try to take a holier-than-thou approach in combatting those who oppose it are endangering their souls. If an elected official can not be trusted on seeking to protect and preserve innocent human lives then how can their judgment be trusted on other issues?
If you are referring to me Robert I think you really should look at my posts. I cannot think of a single instance where I have resorted to terms like baby-killers, Party of Death, etc. or referred to the GOP as evil.Example A from someone who provides plenty of rhetoric and insults in opposition to Republicans.
Of course not. You use other rhetoric and insultā¦a kinder, gentler rhetoric and insult. If you are referring to me Robert I think you really should look at my posts. I cannot think of a single instance where I have resorted to terms like baby-killers, Party of Death, etc. or referred to the GOP as evil.
Well get with the program then, oldcelt. Didnāt you know that name-calling, like patriotism, is the last refuge (or bastion) of a scoundrel? If you are referring to me Robert I think you really should look at my posts. I cannot think of a single instance where I have resorted to terms like baby-killers, Party of Death, etc. or referred to the GOP as evil.
I think Iāll stick with the kinder, gentler āinsults.āWell get with the program then, old celt. Didnāt you know that name-calling, like patriotism, is the last refuge (or bastion) of a scoundrel?
Yesā¦the holier-than-thou approach seems to suit you better.I think Iāll stick with the kinder, gentler āinsults.ā
