They dont have 520000 registered voters, specifically from the secretary of state’s report they have 506,312 registered voters.
It was stated they have 520,000 by another poster so there exact figure is not in yet.

gam197:
Wikipedia is reporting in 2016 that Vermont vote was 278,000 and the voter turnout was 67.95 which is probably pretty accurate
The secretary of state office also addresses this.
The 2020 voter turnout is 73.27%
Yes and he is basing that figure on the 338,000 voter turnout during the 2020 election cycle which was pretty high because of universal voting. . Remember that voter turnout for the 2016 presidential election was 278,000 so if Vermont goes back to normal voting and has a low turnout year of 278, 000 does that mean only 55 percent of Vermont registered voter voted.

That would be absurd because, for the last forty years, that rate has been about 68% during presidential election years…

You ask how does one know that because state rates do not change dramatically. Look at MA for the last years - pretty consistent. This is Massachusetts Gov. site.

Voting turnout has been going down not up. Let’s look at only the percentages for turnout during presidential election years.

Well, maybe it is Wikipedia who is giving out all these false numbers because they show picture and election votes for each year in each state. and give percentages of turnout. One has to ask where does Wikipedia gets its election results from and why are they so far off?

If you look at only the presidential election years in Vermont then the rates are very low 62 to 64 percent. There are no 73 percent so it is still a jump but they are so low on voter turnout it does not seem high. Voter registration is 471.000. in 2016.

So if the new rate is 503,000 or 520,000 and it jumps back to its normal rate of voter turnout of 301000 to 310000 then the percentage will be in the 50’s.

Here’s wikipedia’s 2016 election results for Vermont
(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

They left off Gary Johnson, Jill Stein, Rocky de la Feunte, write ins, blanks.
Added all together these categories are thousands of vote

How can this be Vermont complete election numbers if they don’t match the secretary of state in Vermont’s numbers? Wikipedia takes its election numbers from the New York Times.

Look at the screenshot you took, it says that Hilary Clinton numbers are 178,000.

The New York Times publishes the incomplete numbers and Wikipedia picks them up. So what is this?(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

This still does not change what happens. Vermont had 471,000 registered voters in 2016 so if it increases its mail-in voters and tells everyone that they now have 503,000 or 520,000 registered voters in the state and that their rate of voters participation percent jumped from 63.3 to 73.27 what happens next election cycle and every normal election cycle after that the voter turnout is lower, does it then go into the 50 percentile. It would seem so.

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) t

Again there are only 623,000 people including children under age 18 n the state.

This is starting to sound like an episode of the Twilight Zone.

That is the voter turnout.
Go to this page again on the Vermont secretary of state website
https://sos.vermont.gov/elections/election-info-resources/elections-results-data/

Scroll down to the 2016 information.
In 2016 Vermont had:
471619 registered voters
Of those registered voters 320,467 voters turned out to vote.

320,467 / 471,619*100= 67.95%. That is the voter turnout

That is very misleading then to put that number up there without full information.

Massachusetts voters registration and participation are correct.

So these percentages by the Secretary of state in Vermont sites are incomplete also. They do not give the percentage of of registered voters who actually voted or it be higher for 2016. (67.95%) (Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

You can’t raise the rate of registered voters to 503,000 or 520,000 which is a major jump .

New York Times is reporting Vermont as higher–(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

Vote is 355,000. Total is 367,000 which is a major jump in votes from 2016. It will be interesting to see what Vermont puts on their webpage. Mail-in ballots were sent to every registered voter. . Again if the vote goes to the normal 300,000 range in 2024, voter percent will drop from 73% to 58% next election.

The state only has 623,000 people including children under 18 so how many more registered voters can they claim if they are claiming 503,000 or 520,000 registered voters?

Once you start fudging numbers, you have to keep going. You can’t(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.) have this equation

Actual registration numbers, compared to population estimates.
… from 2014-2018.

It is called voter registration, and is a real thing.
That is only this year. Can’t wait to see the voting rate when mail-in ballots will no longer be sent out.
I have no doubt it will drop. But then it will also drop when an election is less contentious. The current president put a more people in the love him or hate him camps than is normal,
Well, I learned something here at least.

As of Tuesday morning, 481,111 state residents were listed on Vermont’s voter rolls, about 92.5 percent of the state’s approximately 520,000 eligible votes. That’s roughly 16,000 more than two years ago, when registration peaked ahead of election day in 2016.

Data from the secretary of state’s office shows the uptick in registered voters has been driven largely by the state’s new automatic voter registration system, which took effect in January 2017.

The system allows voters to register automatically when they receive or update their driver’s licenses, or other forms of identification, at the Department of Motor Vehicles.

Two other ways that can lead to more registered voters than the population of actual eligible voters:

When women marry and then change their names, move elsewhere and register at their new home under their married name, their maiden name often doesn’t get purged from the original voter roll though they’re long gone. Voila, the single woman’s ballot is available to them that want to play it. There are anecdotes of this happening in this election. Enough to make a difference? I don’t know, but it could have been a contributor alongside other contributors. Another reason voter rolls badly need proper auditing and editing. Why are the Democrats so dead set against this?

Also: voters in one state who have second homes in another state and register themselves in both states. There are alleged to be at least several thousand of these in NV, especially in the Las Vegas area as second homes are very common in Clark County as well as Lake Tahoe and Reno. Then it’s quite easy to do the mail-in ballot at both residences. So voter roll audits need some form of cross-state checking as well.
How about using the Registry of vehicle where you simply check a box to register to vote. Illegals in Vermont are allowed to get license or a form of license since 2013. Then you get a mail in ballot.
n 2013, Vermont became one of the few states in the nation to offer driver’s licenses to undocumented immigrants
In 2013, the Vermont legalized driver privilege cards, which allow state residents to drive even if they don’t have proof of U.S. citizenship.
I am sure it the same for Colorado which went to mail in ballots .approx. 6 years ago.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis (D) signed a bill on Tuesday that would give all state residents access to driver’s licenses and identification cards**, regardless of their immigration status**

What are your thoughts on North Dakota? They don’t have voter registration

False.

Am I eligible to vote in Vermont?

You are eligible to register to vote in Vermont if you:
  • Are a citizen of the United States of America
  • Are a resident of the state of Vermont
  • Have taken the Voter’s Oath
  • Are at least 18 years of age, or will be 18 by Election Day
