The normalization/approval of Poly relationships is what concerns me. I have same sex attraction along with straight attraction but choose to be celibate for various reasons mostly because of my faith.

I do not know how old you are … but I lived through this evolution…
I’m fully aware of the process that people went through to obtain the same rights as my wife and I.

The question posed to you still stands. Do you want to describe as ‘sexual depravity’ the legally and religiously recognised marriages both in the Muslim world at present and those described in the bible? Would you like me to list the biblical examples?

It won’t affect you. All the polygamous marriages in the Muslim world don’t affect you. Why would any others? Notwithstanding that even when allowed it’s not common.

Hah. You think polygamous marriages don’t affect others and our larger society?

Morals affect society and Christians should love and care for everyone. Not just for their physical well being but for their soul also. I don’t hate people in Poly relationships. I don’t even hate those in a very close incest relationship. If I care for those people I should pray for their salvation just like with any other person.

Jesus sad that from the beginning marriage was between one man and one woman and divorce was only allowed by Moses due to the hardness of their hearts …

So I will stand by my words - though there are degrees of sexual depravity and we are moving from lessor forms to more grievous forms …

I believe that the Church teaches the truth our Lord taught and expects of us… what is good and pleasing in the eyes of God and for our salvation - and that is that marriage is between one man and one woman

Morals affect society…
It depends what you class as immoral acts. And then some acts do and some don’t. It’s immoral to steal and doing so will affect society. If you think it’s immoral to have sex outside marriage and my wife and I aren’t actually married, then it doesn’t.

Polyamorous relationships are going to prove unstable for children. Maybe you think that doesn’t affect all of us. I think differently.
Polyamorous relationships are not part of the stable heritage of Judeo-Christian values that have served our country pretty well for the past two hundred years.

Fair enough. Muslim polygamous marriages are sexually depraved as far as you are concerned. And all polygamous marriages in the bible are sexually depraved.

You have had two opportunities to change that view. I won’t be bothering to give you a third.

Other than that being your personal opinion, do you have anything with which to back that up? And to ensure that we can see that polyamorous relationships are worse than normal ones, you’ll have to show they result in at least a 50% breakdown with children being left with a single parent.

If it’s less than 50% it might seem we should encourage it. For the sake of the children, of course.

If you think it’s immoral to have sex outside marriage and my wife and I aren’t actually married, then it doesn’t.
If I care for the well being of people’s souls then it grieves me and it does affect society. Fornication being normalized. We’re coming from possibly two different world views here.

From my world view there is a God who made sex and there’s morals about sex.

So maybe my wife and I are married. Maybe we’re not. If we had sex last night, how does the possibility that we’re not married affect society in a way that it wouldn’t if we were married?

Oh brother. I think most people can figure it out that mom or dad, or maybe neither, plus 3,4,5 other boyfriends / girlfriends is not going to be a healthy family life for children.
What do social workers know? Who’s most likely to molest children? Mommy’s boyfriend. But surely, that’s not going to happen with many partners coming and going, right?

Sex between a man and a woman is the natural way humans make another human life. With great power comes great responsibility.

In my opinion sex shouldn’t be treated as careless and a fun activity. (No, I’m not saying people can’t have fun during sex. etc.) Yes there’s birth control and contraception but they’re not 100% effective. Look at the issue of abortion. The direct ending of a unique human being in their early stages of life.

We’ve separated the act of sex from reproducing so much that we don’t consider the risk of pregnancy and are suprised by it. and if there is a pregnancy well, we can just end the offspring’s life.

Sex should be honored more especially for those who are pro-life because you risk a child being made.

Saving sex only for marriage is good for many reasons. If we cut down on casual sex in america and saved it to being only one life partner there be fewer stds for example.

So it was just your opinion. Fair enough. Thanks for the (name removed by moderator)ut.

Thanks, I knew that. But you didn’t answer the question. Here it is again:

How does sex in private between an adult man and his infertile adult sister affect society? Similar to fornication.
They committed an immoral act together. If news of their relationship goes around people can get ideas and think of trying it too. It can become normalized. It should be an act that is condemned by society. Same with fornication.
Sex outside of marriage is evil for many reasons such as the ones I listed off previously.

So now it’s evil as well?

The only reasons you mentioned earlier were stds and unwanted pregnancy. So my partner is past child bearing age and we don’t have stds. If we’re not married then how does having sex in tbe privacy of our own bedroom affect society?

Why would a person who believes in catholicism not believe so?

Do you want an answer from the Christian perspective or from a nihilist point of view/opinion?
