No, it’s not. But when we live in an era where we are heavily dependent on foreign oil, in danger of irreversible climate change and in need of economic stimulus, why could we not have combined all of these into a stimulus plan that may have had some long term benefit?

It’s not worth much to me but thanks. There was exit polling in 04 right on election day that had John Kerry becoming our 2nd Catholic POTUS. Like Abyssinia said there’s only one poll that matters. And of course in 2000 one candidate won the polling by popular vote. The other was awarded the Electoral College. And that took weeks after the election.
There’s only one poll that matters. But its still interesting to follow the trends - some polls are more accurate than others. Some are way off. Either way, candidates and their supporters will cite one poll over another, or downplay a damaging poll while praising a poll that supports their view. Dick Morris (the advisor who told Clinton to move to the right or middle or risk losing his re-election) said that the key poll to watch is Obama’s favorability ratings - if he is in the mid 40’s right before election then he is pretty much toast. Michael Medved has also said that no president has won election who had less support the 2nd time around. Clearly Obama has less support than in 2008. We shall see, though. Obama still has a few tricks up his sleeve - more personal attacks on Romney/Ryan funded by money he got from Hollywood and elite New York fundraisers. But he is “a man of the people”.
I disagree. Suggesting the President of the United States, any President of the United States, was sitting there using words like “shut up” and telling his opponent to do something to himself, was derogatory to the President and to the Presidency of the United States. But it’s not unusual in Republican circles so I wasn’t surprised. I recall the AZ Republican governor with her finger in the President of the United States’s face. So nothing surprises me anymore.

Apparently the spirit of McCarthy lives in the Democrat party. Saying that Romney “doesn’t care about a woman dying of cancer” and Obama hiding behind the surrogates and PAC. Reminds me of the infamous and sleazy daisy ad run the Democrats against Goldwater in 1964. Very dirty.
Vague enough perhaps for the youngest kids but that crowd sure appeared to get it with the laughter and applause it drew. I don’t think pretending Obama was telling Romney to wash his face and Eastwood couldn’t say that to Romney would have gotten the same response.

I agree it was demeaning to the office of the POTUS. Not my kind of humor. But Obama seemed to take it in stride and with good cheer since he texted “This seat is taken,” with a photo of himself sitting from behind.

You’re right though Obama’s response was a good one I thought with the chair and the word President on the back of it. Yes that was the photo but ok I can try not to. One of my sisters is an Independent Republican leaner in a swing state who is not pleased with either candidate but I know she does not like the office being demeaned.Exactly

Oh, I am definitely to the Left- further to the left than Obama regarding the role of government and the dynamics of the national economic field, BUT I can and do point out fauz pas, slips, and failures displayed from the left as well. BTW I’m not a Democrat, though I tend to vote that way.
