Possibly. I heard someone on the radio say “Ron Paul in 2016!” 😛

He’ll be 80, but I’m sure that won’t stop the faithful. After he passes away (when he’s 120+, God willing), they’ll prop him up like Weekend at Bernie’s and rail against the establishment.

:rotfl: Good One!

True Ishii, but at what cost?

Look at how bankrupt our society has become. I agree with Pat Buchanan, America’s problems, heck the West’s problems now are too big for Reagan…we need a Saint Paul!

Alfonso Rachel was also right today when he said the “GOP needs to run on something more than economics” seriously I know ‘it’s the economy stupid’ but let’s be frank…is that what the GOP is all about? Tax cutting a broken taxation system and jobs? Well what a way to run a party…nah we are not gonna run on Americanism like Reagan did in the 80s or Rugged Individualism of Coolidge, or Populism of TR, or Abolitionism like Lincoln…“just tax cuts and jobs and sit down and shut up America and enjoy your American Idol”

Which reminds me of what Gorbachev said when the SU collapsed (or so people thought) it collapsed because “Soviet Russia had no soul” well America is losing her soul…fast!.
Hello austenbosten. You are correct in identifying America’s main problem - its a spiritual problem, not a financial problem. (although in a way, American’s financial problems might be partly a function of losing the soul). America will not be turned around in a year or four years, by a tax cut or even a supreme court justice.

But we have to start somewhere, and we have to do what’s right. America does need renewal - but people are hurting and need jobs. There are short term problems we face - and I think Romney/Ryan are best equipped to deal with the problems. There are long term problems too and I struggle to come up with a political solution - other than reducing the size of government and coming closer to subsidiarity. We need a spiritual renewal. Every election people say that “its the most important election” but this really is. There is an opportunity cost with not electing Romney and that is the lost opportunity to choose the next supreme court justices.

There’s always Rand Paul…oh wait, he’s supporting Romney and speaking at the convention…
Ron Paul is done as a politician.

The GOP came back to life because of the Tea Party. IF the Tea Party (thank you Ron Paul) didn’t spring up after the 2008 elections, the GOP would be scratching its head saying, “Where did everyone go?”
Hahaha…uh I don’t know about all the Tea Party conventions you’ve been too, but trust me Ron Paul is not and never was the Tea Party. Listen to RP and the Paulites…it’s not "Taxed Enough Already:, it’s The Fed, The Fed, THE FED! that and No more wars.

RP is not and never was the Tea Party.

Nah not fallin for it. SCOTUS picking doesn’t mean anything. Remember David Souter? Remember Chief Justice Roberts recent decision on Obamacare!!!??? The truth is Romney’s chances of saving America is a coin-toss, sure better than Obama but definitely don’t hold your breath.

I’m voting Romney this year but I’m not going to drink the Kool-Aide any longer. The GOP and Romney aren’t getting a dime from me if they wish to ruin Conservative chances of running in the future and treat them like lepers.

You don’t have to fall for it. We have to hold them accountable. If you drank the kool aid before then I’m sorry. I have never believed that any party or set of leaders would change the country necessarily. Souter? Still smarting from that? How about Scalia, Thomas and Alito? Do you think Robert Bork will tell Romney to choose another Souter? If so you are hopelessly pessimistic. The glass of opportunity for conservatives is half full with Romney, not half empty.

Look you wanna be all Rah Rah for Romney…be my guest. I have no problem, I certainly want him over Obama. But I’m not buying this garbage that Mitt Romney is Mr. Conservative and is going to save the country or hold people accountable…Mitt’s just going to avert the death blow which is Obama’s second term. However the way Romney is running his campaign I see another McCain 2008.

Heck a lot of the McCain retreads who lost McCain the election are on Romney’s staff. So I’m not so hopeful. So wake me up when it’s 2016.

Work on your tan between now and then, because if things don’t improve soon, this country is going to look more like current day Greece than modern America. We may as well look the part 😉

Thank you Zulfiqar for sharing that link, because I missed his speech. It truly was beautiful and brought tears to my eyes…👍

Well, having never heard Chris Christie deliver an entire speech, I have to say that I was blown away. That was one of the most rousing speeches I have heard coming out of a politician’s mouth in a long, long time. Made me wonder…maybe we nominated the wrong guy?

🙂

Pass the souvlaki and the hummus.

Rick Santorum 2020. 👍

Well done Rick…Speech At GOP Convention
Rick Santorum speaks from the heart. It was a beautiful speech, particularly when he talked about his daughter, Bella, and also his father. He hardly said much about Romney, however, and neither did any of the other speakers, including Chris Christie, the keynote speaker. Mention of Romney came across as almost an afterthought or a fill-in-the-blank, by-the-way, generic candidate. The only other speech that was, not surprisingly, both sincere and effective, was that of Ann Romney. She is Mitt Romney’s greatest political asset.
