One big elephant we might be missing in the respect for life area and values of candidates would be , the endorsement of Romney by Huntsman - a person who chose to serve the proabort Pres., in a country that has a horrible record in the area !

’ Tell me who your friends are and I will tell you what sort of person you are ’ - thus there is Hunstman, who serves Obama vaues , who agrees with Romney !

Unsure if Huntsman did /could or even care to do anything about the problems of China in this area , during his ambassodorship !

Heard him talking about t how we need to be more competetive or something like that I think , to keep up with China - not that our destruction of life here has contributed the most to the problems here - by inducing lust , greed , confusion etc too !

If he did not care about this connection , was it because the value system is primarily about money …and greed - having read how important tithing is in the Mormon structure , thus , more persons in the group ,more money …and that greed gets translated to , ? with enough money and power and
ambition , men can all compete , to become planetary gods !

Dangerous too , when we realise that one of these days , the reported 200 million Chinese men would have no wives , becuase of their ungodly practices !

The only decent , yes , even miraculous intervention we can even think of , would be what is represented by the name of our Holy Father Pope Benedict - large monastic communities !

Mormonism would have no acquaintance with such an idea !

Some troubling hints too , as to whether in Mormon philosophy, prolife is good only for Mormons ( even the above Ambassodorship , what else would that tell us ! )

Reason to mention this is , the glee with which Romney mentioned , in a previous debate , the sucess of oral contarceptives as ‘working just fine !’ - this after his experience and 'conversion ’ to prolife , after being the Gov. of a Cathoic state ( true , sadly , in name alone for many ! ) and should have known what such an attitude represents !

Thus , if profits , power over others etc ; seem to represent the distorted values that have been inherited through the system and as seen by actions at these levels , we do need to remove the blinders , may be put there by those who have ulterior motives and be able to see , in The light of The Holy Spirit , who God has revealed Himself to be and thus, our own dignity , in Him !

Actually it should be “0”. My mom has property that she has owned since the 1950s - its value has gone up more than 5X its original purchase price - but it’s really not worth anymore today than it was in 1950s but the dollars that would buy it are now worth so much less. Essentially government deficit spending has caused inflation and the 15% tax is their way of profiting on their own reckless spending policies.

I would hardly call the people that pay 90% of the tax burden “leaches”.

As has been explained by editorials in the WSJ (in response to Warren Buffett) the real tax rate on corporate income is closer to 45% after accounting for taxes on corporate profits.

Polling in Ohio: Romney favorite by wide margin

“A Quinnipiac University survey of Ohio… shows Mitt Romney holding a comfortable edge over his Republican primary rivals… with 27 percent of the vote. Former Sen. Obama up 5 on Romney nationally

PPP’s first national poll of 2012 finds Barack Obama with his best standing against Mitt Romney since last May, right after the killing of Osama bin Laden. Obama leads Romney 49-44.

It’s not as if Obama’s suddenly become popular. He remains under water with 47% of voters approving of him to 50% who disapprove. But Romney’s even less popular, with only 35% rating him favorably while 53% have a negative opinion of him. Over the last month Romney’s seen his negatives with independents rise from 46% to 54%, suggesting that the things he has to say and do to win the Republican nomination aren’t necessarily helping him for the general. Obama’s turned what was a 45-36 deficit with independents a month ago into a 51-41 advantage.

One thing that really stands out in this poll is the extent to which Obama has claimed the middle. He’s up 68-27 on Romney with moderates. He also leads by 20 points with voters under 45, a group there’s been some concern about slippage with, and he has a 66-30 advantage with Hispanics.

Ron Paul matches Romney’s performance against Obama, also trailing by 5 points at 47-42. Beyond those two Newt Gingrich trails by 7 at 49-42, Rick Santorum has an 8 point deficit at 50-42, and Rick Perry trails by 11 points at 51-40. - Public Policy Polling

Not really. The government takes my money is all I care about. And probably what most taxpayers care about. That and rich people pay less % in taxes… and then they want me to vote them into power so it can continue? :cool:

I am confused. We pay income tax on earned income. The majority of Romney’s money comes from investments in whatever form: interest, dividends, etc. He does not set the tax rate. If we want the tax code changed, then we should vote accordingly. I personally prefer a consumption tax, others may prefer a flat tax. Either way would be better than what we have now.

Fact is, the rich are leeches on society. They use the courts more often than poor people and most of our wars are to benefit their investments (Iraq wasn’t about freedom). We bailed out Goldman-Sachs for pete’s sake. I guarantee that didn’t help the cleaning woman.

It’s no wonder why the “Prosperity” Gospel sells so well; I can be rich and not feel guilty about the fact that people work jobs that won’t even pay the rent.

By the way, when you exclude students and the elderly, the effective tax rate goes up quite a bit.
