The phenomenon we are dealing with here is that many in the pro-life movement are not educated as to fact that we are living in a constitutional republic, not a monarchy.

The only solution to the question of legal abortion MUST be a constitutional solution.

Only those pro-lifers that have a competent understanding of the Constitution should be allowed to offer solutions to this problem.

Sadly, the pro-life movement is dominated by folks who look to the Courts, the President and the Federal Government as the answer to this problem. They couldn’t be more wrong in pursuing this strategy and this foolish and unconstitutional strategy is literally costing lives.

The answer to this problem MUST come from the proper Constitutional branch - the Legislature. The answer to this problem MUST come from the States, not the Federal Government. Until pro-lifers come to grips with this reality, abortion will remain legal. Until pro-lifers take a man like Ron Paul seriously, abortion will remain legal for a VERY LONG TIME.
I agree.

Romney Joins Fight on Contraception Rule

news.yahoo.com/romney-joins-fight-contraception-rule-230254626.html

At a high school in Centennial, a Denver suburb, Romney took aim at recent regulations requiring women’s contraceptive services to be covered by insurance policies under the Affordable Care Act. The Catholic Church had sought a broad exemption for the many Catholic institutions in the country to recognize its canonical opposition to artificial birth control. Instead, the Department of Health and Human Services excluded only “religious employers” that primarily employ members of their own faith communities.

The exception protects those who work directly for Catholic churches, but not Catholic universities, hospitals or social-service agencies. Catholic bishops are pushing back on the issue, with some telling their parishes to “defend the faith” and others saying outright they won’t comply.

Although the White House has sought to point out that the policy does not require individuals to use or prescribe contraception, Romney charged it was an example of President Obama’s war on religious liberty.

“Think what that does to people in faiths that do not share those views. This is a violation of conscience,” he said. “We must have a president who is willing to protect America’s first right, our right to worship God according to the dictates of our own conscience.”

I really doubt if a woman contemplating an abortion makes her decision based on who’s in the White House.
Republicans have worked to make sure their decison is an informed decision. They have insituted wating periods, informed consent laws, parental consent , sonogram laws and banned partial birth abortions and even had to fight tooth and nail to forbid abortion Doctors from starving to death children born alive as a result of a "botched aborortion. All of these were fought nearly unanimoulsy by the Democrats.

In major policy shift, Obama’s re-election campaign declares support for SuperPACs

“President Obama is signaling to wealthy Democratic donors that he wants them to start contributing to an outside group supporting his re-election, reversing a long-held position as he confronts a deep financial disadvantage on a vital front in the campaign. Aides said the president had signed off on a plan to dispatch cabinet officials, senior advisers at the White House and top campaign staff members to deliver speeches on behalf of Mr. Obama at fund-raising events for Priorities USA Action, the leading Democratic “super PAC”” - New York Times

Santorum likely to win two out of the three contests today - he is favorite in Missouri and Minnesota

“Rick Santorum could be headed for a big day in today’s contests in Colorado, Minnesota, and Missouri. Missouri looks like a probable win for Santorum. He’s at 45% there to 32% for Mitt Romney and 19% for Paul. Minnesota provides an opportunity for a win as well. Currently he has a small advantage with 33% to 24% for Romney, 22% for Newt Gingrich, and 20% for Ron Paul. And Santorum should get a second place finish in Colorado, where Romney appears to be the likely winner. The standings there are Romney at 37%, Santorum at 27%, Gingrich at 21%, and Paul at 13%.” - Public Policy Polling

But pro life laws can lower the rate of abortion.
Perhaps. I’m on your side on this but how will they know? Like adultery or anything that is still illegal, who will report them if it becomes illegal?

I think it takes more than legislation to change the pro-death mentality not only of this country but of the world. A woman can always go to another state or another country if she wants to abort.

Rick Santorum’s already been Johnny-on-the-Spot on this issue.

Mitt being Johnny-Come-Lately is definitely better than him not showing up at all.

Also, it’s not surprising to see Yahoo! News continuing to push the same dishonest reporting and labeling on their news sites. This isn’t a rule about “contraceptive coverage” - though that’s also a reprehensible component. Even more urgently this issue is about forcing people to pay for abortions - both surgical and chemical. I hate seeing the media repeat the Planned Parenthood lie over and over that chemical abortions are “contraception.”

I think we too often concentrate on the wrong side of the equation. Too much “well pro-life politicans dont do enough” rather than stress the basic point we should make over and over-people who believe a woman should have the right to pay someone to kill her child are morally unfit to hold public office at any level.

I agree there needs to be a moral change in how people view abortion, but it does not have to be either or, you need pro life laws.

We keep track of murder rates don’t we? But it’s a lot more of a hassle to go to another state or country or whatever, considering that it costs a lot of money. There’s a lot better chance that someone one the border (probably most people who get them are on the border and ask for advice) wouldn’t want to go through with that trouble.

We keep track of murder rates don’t we?
Sure but that’s harder to hide.

But look at the progress made so far. If a pregnant woman is killed, in many states now two counts of murder are charged.

Maybe the states can start defining when life starts, thereby allowing the 14th Amendment to ban abortions. (I got something from Senator Rand Paul on this. I need to review it.)

Moderators: Can you let this thread stand by itself? It would be nice to be able to discuss Santorum’s chances in its own thread.

*New polls show Rick Santorum poised for a “big day” in today’s GOP presidential contests in Colorado, Minnesota and Missouri.

The surveys by Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling show Santorum possibly headed for a victory tonight in Missouri, where he leads Mitt Romney, 45% to 32%. The former Pennsylvania senator is also leading Romney in Minnesota, 33% to 24%.

Romney’s best showing in the PPP surveys is in Colorado, where he has a 10-point lead over Santorum, 37% to 27%. Newt Gingrich is at 21% in Colorado, followed by Ron Paul at 13%.

If Rick Santorum can win two states today, that puts him in the three win column. Would you then lean toward voting for him?
