You are not the first to misapply the meaning of “separation of church and state” which is easily solved if you read
this brief explanation.
As to your last sentence, what recourse do tax paying parents have if or when they are not capable of sending their children to private schools of their choice so that their kids don’t get indoctrinated with pro-gay teaching that is against their Christian belief, and unable to take on the demands of home schooling?
,
My children attended Catholic school. I worked there. I paid full tuition for both. The parishes that supported the school had a fund for parents who wanted their kids to go to the school, but it would have been a budget buster. The parishes kicked in and afforded families the ability to send their children to the Catholic School. Protestant schools also have this type of funding.
The Principal of the school and I were discussing vouchers at a teachers meeting. It was the talk of the time back in the late 80’s early 90’s. The Principal was a nun, not that it makes any difference…,.,but she said something that just left me blinking…when I told her the gov should offer such vouchers so that parents have a choice where to send their child.
She said (paraphrasing)…it is not a good idea. Because there will be “conditions” on the vouchers, we will have to comply with government discipline, education parameters, curriculum verification etc. etc. The government will regulate the vouchers so that the purpose and function of a Catholic education will be watered down. This is not a good idea. She cited an example of a child who had discipline problems, expelling that child would be long process…another example is …“at our school we do not have the resources to educate, BEH, EMH, children with severe learning disabilities, autism, etc.”
My son is HFA, and he struggled…a lot. I concluded that she was right. The government vouchers would come with strings. Strings and conditions that the money coming in with the vouchers would not solve.
I have a good friend who taught at the Baptist School in town. And her pastor just about echoed Sister Mary’s sentiments to the T.
Something to think about.
Oh, btw, I can count 3 students, whom I am in touch with to this day (adults now), who are gay. All are living with a partner. It may not mean anything to you…I am expecting “oh so what”. Yep, exactly, “so what.”
