Resurrection? Why?

Jesus has. He is the first fruit. This could be a long discussion I don’t have time for right now.

***Christians love to throw out the verse to one another (generic statement, here) that says there is no Scripture that is of private interpretation… I happen to agree with this, but the truth is that Christians do NOT actually, themselves, believe this to be true since most of theirs are truly private interpretation. Prove to me that a man who lived out this story we have in the NT actually walked the earth… that THAT can’t even be done, you will never have evidences that he was physically resurrected (sure, you can say … “You will see when he comes in the clouds one day”… but that is only wishful thinking that has not happened when it was said that he would return before some he was speaking to would even pass away). That it was said the ones who believed without seeing are more blessed is not enough to deter me from my demands of proof because I am not out to be MORE blessed… just out for the Truth… Thomas wanted the proof that Jesus was alive and according to the NT, he wasn’t cursed for it… that is what I want… just the knowledge of the Truth!! Deuteronomy 13 not only GIVES me this permission, but even is clear that I am demanded to search it out and to deny anyone who would have me chasing after other gods… It is clear in the TAnakh, where Deuteronomy 13 is found that there is only ONE God and that there is NO OTHER BESIDE HIM AND HE ALONE IS OUR SAVIOR and that he is NOT a man. ***

***THINK… THINK… THINK… THIS DOES NOT take a genius to figure out you have fallen for your own delusional fantasies. It is what you want, else, you would face the Truth that is abundantly made clear in the Scriptures you are claiming your beliefs on that your beliefs can not be supported VIA the same Scriptures. ***

Physical death being a curse or blessing is another big discussion. I would agree that death is a blessing that allows us to exit time and enter eternity, but that assumes an afterlife. When it comes to breaking laws (ie keeping the Sabbath) it is definately a curse.

***No… the curse is to believe in other gods so that you have excuse, so you think, for not using your GOD GIVEN gift to actually think… more in your case, for not believing what you have already rationalized to be understandable… that being your faith is a faith of idolatry. ***

I don’t even know where to start, and how to condense an entire belief system. Maybe describing one aspect would help (even if it is only a sliver).

The Sabbath is a day of worship when God and the people He created (in His image) rest together in love. He revealed to Moses that it was to be observed as a perpetual covenant (Ex 31:12-17). It happens throughout our lives and throughout history. We enter into God’s rest in this world on the Sabbath, and we experience heaven on earth. In a greater sense, the first six days are our lives. The seventh is our death and the greater Sabbath. We leave the world and truely enter heaven where we rest with God.

***Do you think God just rests now??? I do not believe that and in fact, read Isaiah and you will see it is testified there as to not being true that He is just resting for the rest of eternity… it says BEHOLD! He is creating NEW things… not like before (and this I DO know is true because I am one of the newly created creations). He is THE Creator… those with one ounce of creativeness in their blood know that rest is never permanent… their drive to create will always keep them going… thus, why God DEMANDED a day of rest. It says in the Tanakh that one who constantly seeks (the type of work that we are created for) will wear their own selves down if they do not take that break (that is worded in a more modern way, of course… it is right before the verse in Ecclesiastes that says the whole duty of man is to fear God and obey His commandments). THIS is why the Sabbath was commanded of God… because we were not only meant to procreate… but we were also meant to enjoy what it is that we are helping to have dominion of and subdue. That can’t happen for most though, now can it? Because we are so off the intended track… we are working for what it is “we” worship… man (of which Jesus was). THERE IS your SELF induced curse… evidenced in reality; just consider for a moment to see that I am speaking Truth to you. ***

Another example is the image of the bridegroom coming to take His people as his spouse. It applies to our lives when we reform our lives to live according to the covenant (Obviously we have different understandings of the New Covenant). This happens in the world. God is among us and we experience heaven on earth. That doesn’t mean it happens concretely in a physical sense, but in a spiritual sense.

The bridegroom, as spoken of in the Tanakh, is a picture of Judah and those who join theirselves to the Jews, well that would be those being specifically called by God to do such (Isaiah 56 and 65). It says specifically in Isaiah, where this is spoken of, that the sonS would marry those in whom it is speaking to. Sons… notice the “s” there. All of Isaiah… you should read it with the idea of seeking out the TRUTH rather than reading it under the power of suggestion you have thus far chosen to swallow.

Hosea 2:16-24

and Isaiah 54:4-8 for example. I don’t know exactly how you enterprit these two text, but we Catholics believe this has been fulfilled for the Jews. We also believe it was fulfilled for all of us through Christ. We also believe in a fulfillment at the very end of time. In other words, we live our lives like the unfaithful bride and in our life we repent and God comes to us as a bridegroom. When we die it becomes permanent in heaven (or hell if we did not repent). At the end of time it will become permanent in the physical world.

***This above that I have highlighted is not found in the Tanakh… else, show me where… at least not in the way that you are implying it to be. ***

***Hosea 2:16-24… have you read the rest of Hosea? We are cursed. The only way to reconcile ourselves to God (those called in the name of Israel) is via Isaiah 56… not via Christianity, which again, you have even rationalized as understandable to be considered idolatry. You, my friend, are still whoring by worshiping man over seeking Truth in the honesty of your heart. I can not stand before God, which I do every moment of every day, and play the hypocrite… I screw up… but I ALWAYS consider and turn as we are enlightened to do in Ezekiel 18:28… what Christians have chosen to believe is that they can play the whore and receive their fantasy of a god like status. That, I do not see evidence for in this passage of Hosea 2 or anywhere else in the Tanakh. ***

***As for Isaiah 54… verse 13 is my hope for understanding that verses 15-17 is talking about Christianity and other such world religions that threaten and use fear to gain recruits to their boring one minded way of thinking… they are vain and not Truth. 🙂 ***

“On that day” time will give way to eternity. Heaven will literally come to earth and the natural laws and universe will end. The old will be destroyed and the new heaven and earth will be eternal. Those who were in heaven will recieve their resurrected body. We will be alive forever, but resting with God in our midst. Go back and re-read the links I provided. We believe their are eternal consequence to these words. All previous fulfillments “On that day” point to what will happen on the new earth, during the final fulfillment.

***Please, show me in the Tanakh where it is this is revealed according to Isaiah 8:20 and Amos 3:7 because thus far, you have failed to do so. ***

So, God espouses us to him forever (Hos 2:21) in an earthly covenant. If we abide in the covenant and are graced with the gift of heaven, it is fulfilled on a larger sense on the perpetual Sabbath. At the end of time, when God returns and brings heaven with him, we will be resurrected and that is the “full glory” I am speaking of.

What is the “full glory” in your opinion?

***What you are interpreting Hosea 2:21 to be is not AT ALL what I see. ***

***As for the “full glory” … what are you meaning to ask me? The full glory of God? That would be what He established and our obeying Him to have dominion over the earth and subdue it according to His commandments. To quit following the works of man, of their hands and of their mouths, and worshiping our own selves as though we are the Creator… to use what it is God gave us, rational thinking, for the purpose in which it was attended… that would be to take part in this creation in the most glorious way that we were so blessed to be able to do by OUR CREATOR… and to give HIM the glory and not our own selves which is what we are doing when we worship ANY man … even worse when we do it for vain purposes. ***

There is NOT one thing that ANYONE could tell me to deter me from seeking after God and His ways… that I learn from my mistakes IS part of His ways; else He would not have given me free will and the ability to consider my ways. I praise Him for that and do not repent of how I was fearfully and wonderfully made. I do not accept a sacrifice to cover my guilt for the things that I have learned via trial and error. I will always seek that which is Good… the Truth… and threats from man of eternal punishment will not ever get in my way to walk this path. I am aware that I will die one day and thus, since I would like my seed to continue on this earth, the Creation of God, I find it all the more necessary to speak these things… the Truth. :o

He spoke about resurrection and also about a Last Judgment (Mt 25), so if there is no resurrection, there is no world to come, and then Jesus would have been a false witness. Because Mt 25 says it even more than the parable of the rich man and the poor Lazarus…
What is said to the Rich man in the parable that I opened this thread with is really… REALLY… THE Truth… that even if Lazarus were risen, they would not believe… that what Moses and the prophets said should be enough. That it is claimed Lazarus WAS raised from the dead and yet, so many still worship a man (Jesus) as though he were God is only testifying against your own selves. Read Deuteronomy… all of it… read chapter 13… even IF we see signs and wonders (which you are only buying the words of man and have not EVEN seen the evidence of these supposed signs and wonders), we are told not to chase after other gods. Do you not get it. We have the testimonies that say there is only ONE God and that He is not a man!! Yet… even though it is claimed Lazarus DID raise from the dead, you believe in the salvation that comes from a man and you WORSHIP him as your god though HE DID NOT create you. Though, I admit, the spirit that is being created in most is not created by God… you are rather created by the words of man (your own selves) without any understanding of who THE Creator, God, really is. Joshua said not to go after and serve other gods… as for him and his house, they would serve the LORD… I am of the same mind which is why I have sought after the Truth like a person dying of thirst in the desert would seek after water… I had to even study the other gods of the ancients to make sure that it was not them I was seeking after… and all it took was a look at the Egyptian gods to see where the stories surrounding Jesus originated from… and it really does hurt to see the credit going to their demigod types rather than the Creator of the heaven and earth… the One to Whom we should give ALL praise to for the breath in our lungs!! IT is truly a sad thing to witness the excuses that are being given here to deny the salvation that is already in our hands given by the ONLY GOD, the Creator Himself. 😊
Also, what do you make of Jesus’ own resurrection? To make it up and to die from having witness repeatedly and unabashedly about Jesus’ Resurrection despite the death threats and much persecutions. Had it been a lie, I doubt it would have called but such a long time repressing it without success… and the Church should have died long ago had it been a lie, no???
***Tell me, why do you not worship Allah after all the signs and wonders claimed by the Muslims? They are only a small percentage off from Christianity in the recruits they have gained based on their claims and vain promises. Why not just serve God, the Creator, with what you are given now… in this Moment… without worrying about what punishment or reward you will receive? Why not just fulfill the whole duty of man given by God, which is to Fear Him and keep His commandments. That you have messed up is not an excuse to worship a man as though he is or COULD BE God… Please, read Jeremiah 17:5… How do you get around this, the curse? ***

5214776]*Luke 16:19-31 Particularly the last verse which says, “And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets (the Law and testimonies Isaiah 8:20), neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.”

Gabriel of 12;*
Maybe you should read the whole content of the scripture you provided for us; The parable of Jesus is being addressed by Father Abraham, who exclaims to the Rich Man in purgatory about warning his father and brothers of his place of torment, “that they have Moses (Law) and the Prophets, let them listen to them”. It is the Rich man in torment in the after life that petitions Father Abraham to send Lazarus from the dead to persuade them.

Father Abraham answers wisely to the Rich man in torment; “if they will not listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone should raise from the dead”.

Point of order; simplynoone; you claim to the Law of Moses and the prophets? both Moses and the prophets foretold of Jesus. Yet you don’t obey Moses and the prophets who spoke about Jesus. The plot of the parable deals with those who think they follow the “Law” Moses and the Prophets but in reality they (you) don’t because the Law and the Prophets point to Jesus who fulfills them.

Read on in the same Gospel of Luke 24:27 "Then beginning with Moses and ALL the Prophets, he (Jesus in his resurrection) interpreted to them what referred to him in ALL THE SCRIPTURES".

Your scripture question does not deal with the belief of the resurrection, but those who “THINK” they follow (the “LAW”) Moses and the prophets but do not, because they do not follow Jesus of whom the LAW AND THE PROPHETS are fulfilled, through Jesus himself. Moses himself spoke of his coming. See **Deuteronomy 18:15 “A prophet like me will the Lord your God, RAISE UP for you from among your own kinsmen; TO HIM YOU SHALL LISTEN”.

Question simplynoon? Do you listen to Jesus of whom Moses spoke of ? or do you disobey (the Law) Moses, who gave you the LAW from God himself ?

Peace be with you

I believe that we have evolved enough to understand that the dead raising to life spoken of in the Tanakh cannot be speaking literally… and put them into context to see that indeed it is not; but rather they are speaking allegorically of Israel. It is not that I have gained this knowledge out of thin air… I have gained it from modern day knowledge of how nature works (it is BASIC knowledge that when one is dead and buried, they are not coming back) and that God established the Laws of Nature and physical death being a finality for us, men and women of the human species, is very much a part of the natural Laws established by God… well, that knowledge I have gained from the Tanakh.
🤷
That “BASIC knowledge” you are refering to is a human wisdom saying, my friend, from human experience. It speaks in general, it is not the last word on what will happen, absolutely speaking. Mankind have been learning some things about God and the universe they are in, but mankind doesn’t yet have the last word on everything, even with all that knowledge you have gained. There is still more!

You think that we worship a man. And a wafer and some wine. You trust the appearances more than what truly is, I’m telling you! Otherwise you would not say that! You are mistaken here!

Actually, not a “wafer” per se, but a host made of wheat flour and water… So, not a host, but the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, the Son of the Living God.

Moreover, you keep saying the things in the TaNaKH must be taken allegorically. Why on this passage from Jeremiah you have refered me to should I take it LITERALLY all of a sudden?
Don’t follow so-called masters who do nothing more than picking and choosing to their taste! God often, though not always, contradicts our taste!!

Had it not been for Jesus’ own words in the Gospel, there are people I probably would never have forgiven to, and believe me, if I had just followed my will and my taste then, I would not have forgiven. It was hard, yes. But in the end, I was rewarded. I came to become able to see them very differently. Jesus knew that He meant when He told His disciples to love their enemies…

Hello, once again I find myself watching an interesting discussion. As fascinating as it is I am somewhat lost. If possible may I interupt long enough for a few questions.

Simplenoone; Are there not laws for both Gentiles and Jews as well as a method for atonement for breaking the law(s)? Therefore allowing all humanity a process to " walk right with God". Do they still exisit?

Christians; If there was such a process what changed that would require 1/3 of the Trinity to sacrifice itself.

Thank you for your time and patients.

***Lapell, there is a jewish story of a father who set his son on the first step of the staircase and told him to jump into his arms. The son did so. The father set him on the 2nd step and told him to jump, and again, the son complied. Step after step this occured until the son reached the highest step. He was anxious, but his father had caught him everytime before… and so, he jumped. The father stepped back and the little boy fell hard to the floor. As the son picked himself up slowly with that sting of hurt evident in his eyes, the father told him, “that will teach you.” What he had given the son was life. ***

***I have learned that trust is key in understanding. After being disappointed too often by failed expectations, I came to realize that my trust was misplaced. It is the experiences that are along this path I am on that I trust now and in that, I am trusting God. To trust in an experience unknown to me is placing my trust in the words of another man. I can relate to Israel in that God taught me the same way that He taught them… He stepped back and let me fall. ***

True Lapell, that this is how we learn and grow. You say there is still more for mankind to learn, and this I agree and in a big way… but I am not going to put my hope in expectations of tomorrow, or another place, or something beyond what it is I am in now. If we TRULY trust God, then rewards and punishments or an expected end goal is not an issue… rather it is the experience, the consideration, and the lessons learned through living.

I worship the One God who revealed Himself to be One God in three persons, and the God of the whole Christian Bible, not just of the TaNaKH!
*God, the Creator, is ONE God and though He reveals Himself in many ways to those seeking Him in spirit and in Truth, He is not in three persons and in fact, there is no comparison to liken Him to… saying he is as 3 persons is nothing more than an image. *

*When the children of Israel were at the foot of the mountain upon exiting Egypt, they became anxious that Moses was not coming down to lead them. (just another example of how expectation in man rather than the experience leading to the abomination spoken of in Deuteronomy). They asked Aaron to make them an image to worship. Aaron made a calf out of gold. Have you ever wondered why it is that he said, “THESE be thy godS that led you out of Egypt”? I mean, he made an image of a calf, yet he spoke of gods, in plural and not singular form. *

*I did. I came to find out that in Egypt, they would make images of their main god and on the sides of the pedestal on which their god was placed were the carvings of the lesser gods. Most often it was trinitarian. It is exactly how you have said above… their god in three persons. No difference. You are just admitting to worshiping in the same way as the children of Israel did in that day. *

Why don’t YOU worship the Allah the Muslim way?

Deuteronomy 13. Because the words there testify personally to what it is I have experienced in my life. It is the same reason I don’t worship the Christian gods in their way… because it is not Truth.

Don’t just pick and choose in your TaNaKH, my friend. Have you forgotten God’s admonition for us to choose between good and bad, between life and death? He would not need to say this if we were unable to get ourselves lost, would He?

Yes… in fact, this is in Deuteronomy 31:
11
For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.
  • 12*It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
  • 13*Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?
  • 14But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it. * 15See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;
And it testifies to what I know is Truth… that all I need is not hidden from me neither is it far off. It is not in heaven, beyond the sea… but it is so close to me, in my mouth, and in my heart that I may do it. Thus I have chosen life and good. I am not waiting for salvation… It is mine for the taking. 🙂

***Yes, there is the Noahide Law for the Gentiles. 7 commands… common sense, in fact. The Jewish Law is one for a People sanctified for spiritual purposes. ***

***Ezekiel 18:20-28 … to consider and turn again to the path of God, this is how one reconciles their own self before God. That God required sacrificial atonement via blood of animals (and this was ONLY allowed for sins of ignorance, whereas sins against one another called for reconciliation and/or actual penalties incurred) was written for a slavish people … in other words, it was for the people (their guilt) and not for God. ***

*I am sure that you have heard the great words of Gandhi, “Be the change that you wish to see.” This is our goal… that we each individually are that change that we want to happen… in this, our life (our seed… our family tree) could actually be free of oppression one day. At this point, most are content to sit on the sidelines and live in their delusional fantasies that a demigod will return one day to rescue them. This IS the oppression in the world today and this is why I speak against these fantasies.

I am amazed that THE MAJORITY of mankind on this planet right now are THIS oblivious to what we are headed towards by our own hands… most just choose to live in their delusional fantasies believing they have no control when we are the ones who were left with the control…

We are creating the future and it is truly our LIFE at stake here… but not on an individual basis… the Life of mankind on this planet. There will always be those willing to take advantage and most of those types don’t give a thought to the future of this planet and the Life that is here for they are planning ahead for their own vain pleasure… That it is allowed to continue is the fault of the rest of us for only complaining rather than changing the mindsets of first, ourselves, and then those of others. It is such basic logic and yet it escapes mankind… it is what the Tanakh talks about… it is an encouragement to a group, because a small group can change the world…

Proof? Christianity did (just not for the better)… I think it is time for another direction already as most Christians are now just waiting to be rescued and trying to gain recruits to their lazy non-thinking habits (no offense meant… just saying the truth). *
I think you have been talking with to many premillenial dispensationalist (rapturist). They are a small minority of Christians. Be carefull of lumping all Christians in one group. Yes, plenty of Christians are lazy (which you could say about any group) and some are waiting to be rescued, but anyone worth their weight in salt is not. As far as the socialism you mentioned, atheist are much more to blame. I don’t disagree with the spirit of what you are saying because God has charged us with making the world a better place. I agree we must change our attitudes and behaviors, but their is a danger in believing man is his own savior.

Please don’t misunderstand me. We make our own destiny to a certain extent and we must be responsible, but there will always be those who’s minds can’t be changed no matter what we say. It will take an act of God himself. I don’t know exactly what you believe will happen on “that day,” but read the prophets and you will see that God is the prime mover. Man’s best efforts are necessary but God himself will eventually have to deal with our worst efforts.

Forgiveness is for the other person, not for you. Just in what you say shows that you are not understanding it fully still. And love is an emotion, Lapell. This is something I do not agree can be commanded of one person to another. I do not love you. I respect your rights to have your own views, but your views are in such opposition to my own that I am having even a hard time finding common ground with you. That does not mean that I don’t enjoy discussing with you, but I would not even believe you for one second should you say that you feel love toward me. Either you would have to be lacking knowledge of what is entailed in love or you will just be loosely using the word as is VERY VERY common. I just am not one to throw the word “love” around loosely and neither am I one to demand it for myself of others. :o

I did not say the whole of the Tanakh should be taken allegorically. Here is my rule of thumb… what testifies Truth to me and how does it do so… in a literal sense or is it in a spiritual sense. Jewish are well known for their wonderful stories meant for getting across deeper truths. That something may or may not have taken place literally is often not the issue. It is those of the mindset that the stories written in the Tanakh HAVE to literally have taken place that miss the profound wisdom being shared. Whether they did or did not does destroy my trust in God and the Truth in His Word.

Simplynoone, you must have the same rabbi as Ben Masada’s, unless you chose him as your personal guide! About God, do you know Him so completely as to tell us who He is from A to Z?
And be careful not to judge us yourself, let God do that, will you? Did I judge (in the sense of “condemn”) you?

There are no such things as “Christian gpds”! What we said is the Truth, we can’t change it. Yeah, the Holy Trinity is quite impossible to understand fully, but do you follow God only when you understand?
