I don’t think this sort of sarcasm is the most charitable of Catholic responses…certainly not helpful right now.Okay … Hey … loot and riot away - reparations and all … Good job Minneapolis …Your Mayor, your governor and all the Democrats in MN - they are delivering what you voted for… and - woohoo - Biden and Kamala have your backs too!

I don’t think many things would be helpful right now. At least sarcasm is amusing.I don’t think this sort of sarcasm is the most charitable of Catholic responses…certainly not helpful right now.
The irony is that these people are better campaigners for Trump’s re-election than the Republican convention. Four more years!, courtesy of BLM.I don’t think many things would be helpful right now. At least sarcasm is amusing.
What do you suggest to help out a 70 year old man who was beaten up as he tried to protect his business from looters, but ended up in the hospital with a broken jaw. How would you help out others whose businesses were looted, smashed, ransacked and burned down?I don’t think this sort of sarcasm is the most charitable of Catholic responses…certainly not helpful right now.
Blaming this on “the left” and the Democratic Party is so blind. It’s a huge boon for the establishment that a two-party system as strict and restrictive as that of the United States causes lots of people to view everything as taking place within a binary of two political positions. If this keeps up, Trump will win the election because the left can’t keep its people in line.
Gotta agree with this. Despite the media presenting the protests as peaceful, pushing for change, they are having an effect on middle America.I’m talking factually about what’s likely to happen. Whether or not it’s “blind” is irrelevant. Rioting and looting just pushes more votes towards Trump.
Wouldn’t it have the opposite effect then if Trump did send in the National Guard and imposed a curfew or something? If the rioters are playing into his hands then the federal government is making a wise decision.Despite the media presenting the protests as peaceful, pushing for change, they are having an effect on middle America.
In a way, yes. In a way both sides are getting something out of the riots. The Democrats are whipping up the public into nearly orgiastic levels of anger, while the Republicans are profiting off the resulting fear.Wouldn’t it have the opposite effect then if Trump did send in the National Guard and imposed a curfew or something? As long as people keep saying things like this, riots will continue to be an option.Their reaction is understandable,
Wow. Amazing what a prompt, strong reaction to rioting can accomplish. They also immediately enforced a curfew, blocked off streets, rounded up rioters, and limited the damage to just 4 or 5 businesses downtown.
There is a difference between “understandable” and “excusable”. Was John Brown’s raid on Harpers Ferry in which many people were killed “excusable”? No, it was not. Was it “understandable”? Yes, we can understand why he did it.LeafByNiggle:![]()

That first part is right, but whether it helps their cause has yet to be seen.We should call out the rioters and tell them they are behaving badly and not even helping the cause they claim to be rioting in favor of.
Yes, like I said, Minneapolis handled it much better than the riots after George Floyd’s killing. But then this was a much smaller protest, so maybe that had something to do with it. Also the fact that the truth about the suicide was made clear only 90 minutes after the event by releasing the video may have helped.Wow. What a keen observation, these riots result in death, loss of businesses including probably mostly minority business but the reaction is “understandable”.As long as people keep saying things like this, riots will continue to be an option.

One of the conservative commentators I listen to said something similar to that yesterday; in particular, predicting that the recent events in Kenosha, WI basically handed the state to the Republicans. If this keeps up, Trump will win the election because the left can’t keep its people in line.
The Democrats might get the blame anyway, even though they might not actually support looting and rioting, because they’re the ones criticizing law enforcement (for their own gain) and they’re afraid to criticize the rioters because they don’t want to alienate part of their base.Blaming this on “the left” and the Democratic Party is so blind.
