Road map to persecution?

We’ve had this conversation before and I would suggest that the whole ‘persecution’ thing is hyperbole - hyperbole which is an ‘victimist’ insult to all those who have been persecuted, including your Christian martyrs and all those who were targets of the Stasi State you talk about (the Stasi were equal opportunity nasties, by the way, it wasn’t just Christians).

You didn’t answer the question about whether gays (who have been discriminated against for centuries) would be taken to an Employment Tribunal if they refuse to employ Christians (who haven’t).
I am aware we have crossed swords on this before. I am not going to engage in further discussion with you on this topic as there is no way we will ever agree, I can see that.

I suspect this thread will be closed pretty quickly too! However, in a vague attempt to put back on track vaguely, the reason this case is important NOT frivolous is it a test case for how much religous expression is allowed in this country at all. The UK is socially and legally making it pretty clear “You can believe what you like in your own home but walk out the door and you leave your faith on the doorstep.” The subject may be just a ring but the precedent drives to the core of religious expression. The question being asked (by subtext) is “Can religious belief, particularly religous MORALITY be expressed in schools.” GIven recent comments from Alan Johnston - education secretary - the odds are ‘No.’

This case will help establish whether a person has the right to express their faith IN TERMS OF MORAL LIVING in education.

Only a court case which appeals to European law could establish that there is room for such expression. It’s a very important test case. There will be a lot of them.

As far as I’m aware, the UK regulations allow teachers in Christian Schools to call gays “evil spawn of the devil” (or whatever form of words the particular sect prefers) in religion classes but not, say, in French or Science.

Hardly persecution.

Well, no, of course not. In French it would be “mal progéniture du diable” or something like that.
😉

Two bills in Congress S. 1105 and H.R. 1592 are labelled “hate crimes” bills but homosexual activists are using them to silence any statement either opposing homosexuality or even mentioning “natural family.”

“Natural Family, Marriage and Family Values” was deemed hate speech in Oakland, CA, backed up by the local court:

Bishop Fred Henry of Calgary, Alberta had complaints filed against him and apparently a lawsuit because he sent a letter stating Catholic teaching, which was viewed as “hateful and harmful.” That and other examples are cited at:

Back to the bill(s), there’s a petition to vote against the bills at
www.afa.net.

Or you could email your senator and/or representative.

Since I live in NY where both senators co-sponsored the Senate bill:( , I’ve decided to spell out that the bill named after Matthew Shepard is unnecessary. The existing laws were sufficient to imprison his assailants with life sentences. Similar legislation has already produced violations of freedom of speech and freedom of religion.

Please let your senator and/or representative know your view. Thanks.

YOU CAN HELP STOP THIS MAJOR THREAT TO RELIGIOUS FREEDOM!

A bill to expand the definition of federal hate crimes law has now been approved by the U.S. House. On May 3, the House passed H.R. 1592, — “The Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act” – by a vote of 237-180. The focus now shifts to the Senate, where the bill number is S. 1105.

Our national campaign includes “Hate Crimes sends Grandma to Jail” TV commercials that have aired nationally on CNN and locally in the Washington, DC market on Fox News.
