You are correct it was a trick question,

Sadly my friend the person who you agreed with was not Lenin or Marx. It was in fact Adolf Hitler who wrote that in his book Mein Kampf. He also believed in a hybrid socio-capitalist economic model.

I’m not doing this to point you out and declare you as some evil Nazi traitor(I’m sure you are a terrific guy in real life) I’m simply pointing out that your beliefs are morally stained and even though you can rip the swastikas and sickles and hammers off of a product…it still doesn’t make it right.

No single corporation has ever been responsible for the deaths of millions, governments have. No single corporation has infringed upon someone’s civil liberties…Coca Cola sure hasn’t I don’t remember Ebay infringing my civil liberties…but I do know my government has infringed my civil liberties and governments of the past have infringed on people’s liberties.
Even an evil person such as Hitler may have had some good ideas if he truly believed in a hybrid economic system, which I was not aware of. Needless to say, he also had other ideas which, to put it mildly, were less savory. To say that because Hitler was an evil individual that nothing he ever thought had any merit is, I think, fallacious. With regard to corporate infringement upon civil liberties, what about racial, religious, and gender discriminatory practices in business, housing, and the banking industry? One personal example: my late Jewish uncle worked for many years at Bell Laboratories although it had been their open policy not to hire Jews. He managed to circumvent the policy since his name was not of Jewish origin and he didn’t “look” Jewish. No, corporations have not killed people, and certainly not on the scale of a Hitler or a Stalin, but while you may not have been directly affected (or so you think), others, including workers and small business owners, have. Ever hear of the term “monopoly”?

Yes but what causes a monopoly?

I’ve often heard the same about the Right. Without so-called Leftists (I prefer the word liberals), we would never have had social programs that have benefited millions of people, such as Social Security, Medicare, the GI Bill, Veterans benefits, disability insurance, child labor laws, civil rights and other nondiscrimination legislation, just to name a few. Traditionally, liberals are the ones who have always tried to help people in need, while conservatives have been more interested in maintaining the status quo and their own elite power and wealth by means of corporate greed. The millionaires of society are largely conservatives.
COrrection. It was the Republicans that have attempted to enact the Civil Rights Act since the 1950s. It was the liberals who stopped it. L B Johnson was the primary opponent of the CRA when he was in the Senate, and finally signed it into law as a compromise for his support of Big Society.

THe GI Bills (there have been many) have receive bipartisan support. Social Security, Medicare, etc… are just ponzi scheme entitlements that are going to be the primary driver of our country’s downfall. CHeer about that all you like, when China stops lending us money and OPEC stops accepting US dollars for currency because of our fiscal mess, I’ll be around to say “I told you so”.

Actually, I’ll probably be somewhere in South America.

You wanna go into business together when I get down there too? 😃

I was thinking of a Chilean Export/Import business

Okay, name some of them.
Control over key resources in an industry.

Strategic behavior that eliminates competition and prevents entry, i.e. Debeers, or the Mob in drug markets etc. Microsoft in the 1990’s,

Monopoly rights granted by the government.

Now I agree with that. We just finished paying off all our debt, so I am with you on this.
Have you paid off your portion of the national debt yet? Congress has borrowed and spent ALOT of money in your name.

I am setting up a banana farm in Costa Rica. I may do a beachside bar/restaurant. But I’d be willing to import and export stuff through you…😃

Costa Rica is in Central America buddy, but that’s one of the places I look for refuge. Banana farm…I could grow papayas, tobacco, or corn…I always wanted to do that…and run my import/export business. 😃

Yes, the Civil Rights Act was proposed by Eisenhower in 1957 and 1960 but he was unsuccessful in passing it due mainly to the Dixiecrats (Conservative Democrats). It continued to be pushed by Kennedy and then Johnson, who finally succeeded in having the legislation passed thanks in part to the efforts of Hubert Humphrey. I’m not talking about Democrats and Republicans here, but about liberals and conservatives. The Republican Party had a history of liberalism in its very early days (1800’s) and its liberal branch, which was in favor of civil rights legislation, existed into the 1960’s. With respect to that consummate politician, Johnson, he truly did evolve regarding civil rights (unlike Obama’s so-called evolution). Even Harry Truman was antisemitic as can be seen in his early writings, but he too evolved and became a staunch supporter of Israel.

Send me your email: I’ll be joining you and austen in South America.

Now why would you want to join us, when you clearly support the Liberal policies that are the reasons me and Scott are fleeing to S America?

I chose Costa Rica for a couple of things.

No hurricanes or earthquakes
No standing army
Abortion is illegal

Yes, they have centralized healthcare that you must pay in to. But it is peanuts compared to our proposed system, because they were smart enough to actually tackle the real problem…cost of care. Healthcare there is cheap. ANd they have a public/private system where most of the public health doctors also run a private practice after hours and the care is supposed to be excellent.

The weather doesn’t hurt either. Yes, bananas, mangos, papaya, coconuts, avocados all grow very well. The land is also arable for grapes as well, so maybe a little vino action.

Ahhh I’ve always wanted to be a vintner. I guess instead of the Islamic Republic of France I can choose Republica de Costa Rica. I really don’t care for the fact it has no army…I don’t trust neighbors, but pretty soon we won’t have an army here anyways so Hola Costa Rica!

Also the Presidente is really hot…can’t say the same about it if Hillary was President…too bad she’s a Socialist and much of the Legislature is Socialist. 😦
