Take your own advice: Obama is president - get over it.

You want college records of an obviously highly intelligent man but would want the tax records of an obviously wealthy man redacted? Am I the only one who sees the inconsistency here?

BTW, I noticed no responses to post #818. Hmm…
Actually i could not care less about Romney’s tax return. I really don’t care about Obama’s transcripts as it is evident to anybody that truthfully looks at his actions that he is totally un-capable of performing the job he was elected to. I suspect that Harvard doesn’t want to releases transcripts for fear showing the public how a man who got into their school ,ended up with a degree and yet is so very, very incompetent. If obama is example of what a Harvard education brings I would suggest people send their kids to local JUCO

Only in the bizarro world of the modern left is being successful a disqualifier for being president

Take a Look at What Paul Ryan Did to His Own Congressional District, and Be Very Scared for Your Country

Child abuse and suicide is skyrocketing, the number of battered women has tripled, foreclosures have tripled, wages plummeting, and more.

You want the stats on America under Obama? Come on. If you want to run on each candidate’s records, by all means. We know the economy has done horribly under Obama. With you, it is just a guess at how “it will be worse.”

The school record and particularly the application would be interesting given that somehow this self described dope smoking slacker somehow got into Occidental and then Harvard. Did he cheat or lie on his application? Maybe he used “foreign student” classification or claimed some kind of racial preference. All of these possibilities are indications of character and integrity.

As to Romney, I don’t blame him for not wanting to spend the campaign fending off more lies, innuendos and irrelevant claims about minutia in his returns. Further there is a lot of information about other people in returns that those people may want to be kept confidential. Perhaps Romney could have offered redacted returns but then the Left would have seized upon that as suspicious.

He’s a rich guy. He makes a lot of money from investments that have favorable tax treatment. This is legal. Get over it.

“Further there is a lot of information about other people in returns that those people may want to be kept confidential.” This kind of reason reminds me of the occasion when Reagan was once asked why he didn’t go to church more, and he replied he was protecting other churchgoers in case someone planted a bomb in the church.

Regardless of Romney’s reasons for not releasing more tax returns, it’s a done deal now. He has planted a seed of suspicion in some people’s minds, and he’s not going to release the returns at this point. Not a major issue, in my view; just another piece (or an extra piece) of the puzzle that is Mitt Romney.

Here is a story that might give you more of an idea on the type of person Mitt Romney
is. Warning: It is a positive account by someone with no “skin in the game.”

Yes, the article suggests Mitt Romney does not show off his wealth, cares more about his family than material possessions, and is also probably thrifty. I don’t see how that contradicts his desire to save money on his taxes. Many frugal people live simply; they care more about having money than purchasing things. Again, Romney’s tax-return issue is not such a big deal for me although it does raise certain suspicions.

President Obama is worth at least $16 million now, you know. None of these guys are poor, or anywhere near it. Nobody who runs for president is. How much does Obama personally donate and to whom?

Romney donated a lot to charity. One would tend to think those were probably related to the Mormon faith for the most part. They may have said Romney gave as much as $6 million to Charity on the latest released tax return.

Since when is it a sin to try to save on your taxes? It is legal and, frankly, I do as well and
I don’t have even have one iota of his wealth. I like to give to charities that use the most dollar
on the persons they help and not on bureauracies that end up giving those same people
pennies on the dollar either in goods or services.

Meltzerboy are you a CPA? I didn’t refer to Mitt Romney wanting some nefarious activity hidden but that when you are in certain investments with others, although you may be a public person the others are not and thus do not want their personal or business information released. That Mitt Romney is running for President doesn’t mean everyone with whom he has a business relationship wants his/her name and investments made public. I’ve had to provide tax returns for court cases and we go through and redact information that refers to other people or private entities. There is a lot of information in large complex personal returns that discloses financial records of other people.

Ditto with charitable contributions. Many organizations do not want their donors made public and many donors do not wish to have their donations making the nightly news. Oh and before the suspicious minds here decide it’s because they are hiding something, no it’s often because they don’t want every other organization beating down their doors for a donation.

There is something wierd about Americans wanting to know others’ personal business as if privacy (which is mentioned as an excuse for aborting one’s child) is a concept that only applies to other people.

Mitt Romney’s assets are in a blind trust. His returns are prepared by a large, prestigious accounting firm that has ethical standards to uphold. Futher, preparers who knowingly violate tax laws, knowingly take positions that are illegal are subject to HUGE fines and sanctions. I seriously doubt if Price Waterhouse is going to risk the entire firm to hide some bogus deal by Mitt Romney.

Envy is an ugly emotion Meltzerboy and as I understand the Jewish faith it is among the most disgraceful of attitudes. It’s my opinion the resentment and envy rather than a sincere interest in Mitt Romney’s qualifications for President is the driving force here.

:whistle:No one has answered my question: How much has OBAMA donated? And to whom?

It’s not a sin or even a violation of the law to be frugal about taxes. Not at all. It’s good personal money management, something a lot of people should learn to do a better job at.

If more people spent a little bit of time learning how to manage their own affairs, instead of trying to get something for nothing and cheat everybody else while playing dirty politics, the country wouldn’t be in the horrible shape it is now.

Thanks, Lisa. You said it very well.

Yeah beats the used underwear donated by the Clintons. Oh and our VP Joe Biden had something like two hundred bucks donated the year he ran with Obama for VP.

Would you believe that Harry Reid is now howling that Romney paid “too much” in taxes by NOT taking all the donations he was entitled to? Hypocrisy thy name is Leftism.

I"m sure that if Harry Reid wants to donate some money to the federal government, they’ll take it. Somebody needs to tell the old so-and-so to ante up or shut up.

Romney’s Mormon Mission was to France of all places and I saw the picture of him on his bike. I bike a lot. There is even one store on the web and there purpose is to furnish Mormons with their bikes, maybe wardrobe and things like that.

Obama tax return for your reading enjoyment. The Obamas had a relatively straightforward return. The major donation was to Fisher House which is admirable.

Interesting items:

Obama’s used a special method of figuring taxes to reduce their tax bill. Oh entirely legal but gee whiz…

Obamas has significant foreign income. It’s described as “Other Countries” so no identifying country. Gee whiz times two…what’s all the furor about Romney’s Swiss bank accounts? The horrors!!!

I’d suggest Mr and Mrs Obama get better investment advice. They have a HUGE capital loss carryforward…OOPS!

Get in touch with your inner nerd and happy reading!
