Obama made Rosen apologize and his campaign will try another trial insult this week.
And when will Romney apologize? Interesting that there is a week-long media storm when a minor Democratic operative supposedly insults stay-at-home mothers, but silence from the media when Romney directly insults stay-at-home mothers. Hmmm

Apologize for what?

Hill Poll: Romney leads in respect on working women issue
More voters think Mitt Romney and the Republican Party respect women who work outside the home than think President Obama and the Democrats respect women who stay at home, according to the latest The Hill Poll.
Forty-nine percent of likely voters said the presumptive GOP presidential nominee respects women who have independent careers, while 27 percent said he doesn’t and 24 percent weren’t sure.

Wait a minute, back up. Rosen apologized for supposedly insulting stay-at-home moms, so when will Romney apologize for directly insulting stay-at-home moms? What’s with the double standard? Why did the media gang up on Rosen but give Romney a free pass?
Because Romney didn’t “directly insult stay-at-home moms.” You have a losing argument. Even Axelrod, Obama and Biden see that…

Here is the full quote, below. Romney clearly insults the work done by stay-at-home moms, saying it lacks dignity at best and isn’t even work at worst. He says stay-at-home moms have no dignity of work and have to leave the home to get it. It’s really insulting. If he meant it, it’s time he apologizes.

Romney:
I also like the idea that people who are receving assistance – welfare assistance – have a responsibility of working. In my state we made good progress in that regard, following the days of the Welfare Reform Act. But then while I was governor, 85 percent of the people on a form of welfare assistance in my state had no work requirement. And I wanted to increase the work requrement. I said, for instance, even if you have a child two years of age, you need to go to work. And people said “Oh, that’s heartless.” I said no, no, I’m willing to spend more giving daycare to allow those parents to go back to work, it will cost the state more, providing that daycare, but I want the individuals to have the dignity of work.

Romney:
You are misreading it. The lack of dignity comes from living off of welfare, not from staying home caring for children. Staying home with children is UNPAID work. Welfare is not employment and shouldn’t be treated as such.

👍

Like I stated earlier, the morality of welfare comes into play, especially when one expects it long term.

More spin. If Romney “misspoke” then he should clarify, otherwise it’s all spin. His words are at least as insulting as Rosen’s, and since he was so glad to spin and twist Rosen’s words, and we had a week-long uproar over a minor Democratic player’s words, he should explain himself and his words:
Romney:

A stay-at-home mother with a two-year-old is already at work. I can’t believe he said this and he should explain or apologize.

You did not answer my question.

Romney did not insult stay at home mothers, he did not say stay at home mothers do no work, which is what Rosen said. He was specifically referring to welfare dependence. and high daycare costs.

In Hilary Rosen’s apology she linked to an article on CNN she had written basically saying Ann Romney was not an ‘expert’ to speak for women and that certain lifestyles disqualify you from presenting women. She defended her comments by linking to that article, after her apology.

Really? Rosen said that, exactly? We both know what Rosen was saying – that Ann Romney is not exactly an expert on what employed women think, because she’s never been employed in recent memory. Then it was spun and twisted into a week of fake outrage.

Ann Romney went to college, she volunteered full time and she worked with Mitt in two campaigns. She is an educated woman. She can definitely add new insight.

You still have not answered my question - do you think Barack Obama and Joe Biden should apologize for their ‘dignity of work’ comments?

With this statement, if you are correct, you are proving the Rosen is a complete idiot that should keep her mouth shut. If this is what she said then she assumes that only people with an experience about a specific situation know about that situation. Using such assumption then we should discredit the president and most of the politicians from running the country because they have no idea of what people think.

Agreed. The current president has no real world experience in employment - perhaps he should keep his mouth shut too.

I didn’t say he mispoke. I said you misread.😃

That pretty much sums it up.
