No Ron Paul is not a racist or an antisemite, but his followers certainly are.
Catholics are not allowed to assume to know the intent of other people’s hearts. It’s also against the rules of these forums. I am a Ron Paul supporter and can tell you the statement that generalizes his followers is patently false, and I have to question your reason for posting it?

So Catholics are not allowed now to make objective statements based on actual experiences?

You may be a Ron Paul supporter and I’m sure you’re a great guy, but my experiences with Ron Paul supporters has not been very welcoming.

BTW I’m not assuming their heart’s intent, I’m making an observation based on my experiences with them. If you have a problem with that then fine, I’ll be happy to discuss with you why I came to those conclusions.
So two wrongs make a right? Where does Christianity teach that?
Who’s making the wrong? Sorry when I hear many Ron Paul supporters call for the destruction of Israel and throw out anti-semetic slurs and pejoratives…I call them out on it.

Just because I don’t think too fondly of Ron Paul supporters in general based on they way many of them have treated me, doesn’t mean you have the right to beat me over the head with it and somehow make me out to be less than a Christian.

It amazes me when discussing men who have given to this country and the comments some make against them. It’s like ‘Romney lost and we can’t speak positive about anyone else until a decent mourning period has passed.’ I’m just as shocked to see the reaction toward Jindal, who seems to be trying to resolve the problem. Some of the comments being made only validate the current public perception of Republicans. I’d take a chill pill and let it rest, if I wanted to see Republicans have a chance in the future. But that’s just me. 🤷

I don’t know what this has to do with you accusing me of being less of a Catholic, because I made an observation based on my experiences.

Regardless I spoke positively about Romney after the election, he did the best he could. He made a lot of mistakes, but it is what it is. I’m on the fence with Jindal, because I’m hearing more “rah rah” for moderate Republicans and Jeb Bush running in 2016 and I know it will end the same way 1992, 1996, 2008 and 2012 did. A big GOP loss.

As for Ron Paul I don’t agree with you on him “giving” to this country. In my opinion Ron Paul has been one of the most ineffective Congressman in modern history. But that’s just my opinion.

You can be right and ineffective when the numbers of wrong are against you.

Yea, let’s stay to the far right and see how that works out in future elections.

Republicans are going to have to become more moderate on the ‘other issues’ if they want to be trusted by the majority. After all, aren’t we to look beyond the other issues for the important issues?

Haha yes, because it’s not like Republicans haven’t been nominating liberal to moderate Republicans for the past 20 years

Also what do you mean become more moderate on “other issues” exactly what issues are you pertaining to?

Once again what does this have to do with you accusing me of being less of a Catholic?

Read some of what Jindal has to say about Republicans image.

You’re mistaken, I haven’t accused you of being less of a Catholic and don’t know where that’s coming from.

I’m not looking for an argument, but wanted to let you know some find the generalizations you made a bit offensive.

There can not be “MORAL COWARDICE”, that sounds like fading out the “other issues”, “MORAL COURAGE” is needed, I am sorry, some people should have supported Romney, they didn’t, it’s to the detriment of us all, besides being a razor thin margin Romney lost that gives some leeway to shenanigans in how the vote was counted… in Ohio, Wisconsin and Florida…but this is not being played up, maybe it’s not there.

Then the argument of not looking at other issues as proportionate are only for the other side? If it means Republicans have to give on the other issues for the sake of the important issues, it’s moral cowardice and they cannot be set aside?

Not sure if it is consistent to speak of “other issues” if one is a Ron Paul man when Paul above all the others deals with issues that are more outside of the mainstream of issues facing the country, audit the fed, lower the national debt.

Also, google it for oneself, Ron Paul said as an OB/GYN he knows life begins at conception. Yes, some might see his wanting to leave it to the States to decide and some states would respect life, others differently.

But consider his son Rand Paul, at the National Pro-Life Alliance site, it is urged to sign Rand Paul’s personhood amendment. Hence, the unborn would have rights per the 14th amendment. Why I wonder, don’t Ron Paul supporters look to his son’s mindset? I have no idea.

So talking about being moderate, etc. and then talking of Ron Paul, again this does not seem consistent.

Ron Paul’s most important issues would be or could be auditing the fed.

Balancing the budget.

I realize Ron Paul’s history in the medical profession. I participated in 3 live births this past year and find it hard to imagine anyone cannot see that life begins at conception; when two living cells merge.

I will be watching his son for future elections; however, I believe he’ll be treated as his father was, by the far right.

I will also be watching Jindal. As much as I like Jeb, I’m afraid he’d have trouble because of the stigma of his brother with a lot of people.

Anyways, Jindal seems to be softening his speech on the subject of social issues. That would be the trick to get more support. If we stand up and say, no we can’t give on the social issues, then we’re not giving good example to overlooking the other issues for the most important issue.

Ron Paul’s racism and antisemitism are gravely sinful by Catholic standards. If you are involved in such evil, you should repent.
LOL!

Falsely accusing Ron Paul of “racism” and “antisemitism” is not only a mortal sin and a legal issue, it is also one of the oldest, dirtiest, predictable tricks in the book.

It is also a grave injustice to TRUE racism and TRUE antisemitism.

You should be ashamed of yourself!

I have not noticed any bad treatment of Rand Paul by conservatives (what you refer to as the “far right”). This may be because Rand Paul has different views than Ron Paul who was a bit, shall we say, quirky. Also, Rand Paul has been in the Republican party - Ron Paul quit the party, then joined, then quit again, then joined. Hard to keep up. I will not miss him.

I agree - we don’t need another Bush, even a Jeb Bush. I think a Rubio/Jindall or a Rubio/Martinez, or even a Rubio/Haley ticket might be good. Rubio is unapologetic about his conservative principles - esp. pro-life principles. Now, the media would try to force him to say things that they can twist into “war on women” narrative. But Rubio is pretty smart. If the GOP lets liberals moderate the next debates then they don’t deserve to win. I’ll say it again: If the Republicans let liberal Democrats moderate all the debates, then they don’t deserve to win.

Here is how I see it: The GOP needs to come up with a serious immigration plan that includes sealing the borders first, then granting all of the illegal immigrants a path to citizenship if they want. Also, they need to do a better job screening the Senate candidates during the primaries: do not nominate guys who don’t know what to say and what not to say during a speech or debate. They need to be more disciplined and not fall into the “gotcha” trap set by the liberal media.

Just talk to a Paul Qaeda and speak out in defense of Israel…you soon get the whole “You are just a NWO neocon scum, I hope the NWO takes over…I’d love to put fascists like you in concerntration camps you scum!” ~ ranting drivel.

I can’t tell you how many Paulite people have said horrid things like that towards me.
When you have to resort to uncharitable, ad hominem slogans like “Paul Qaeda” and then have to attribute a straw-man argument to Paul’s supporters in the form of “You are just a NWO neocon scum, I hope the NWO takes over…I’d love to put fascists like you in concerntration camps you scum!” then you know you have lost the argument. And if anyone else engaged in those kind of uncharitable attacks, they would have been banned long ago.

The fact that Ron Paul wants to take the foreign aid we illegally and unconstitutionally give to Israel and Saudia Arabia and the rest of the world and give it back to the American taxpayer and the poor and disadvantaged in THIS country DOES NOT make him an “anti-semite.” The fact that he put America First rather than Israel and Saudi Arabia First, makes him a true American patriot, all fallacious attacks of “antisemitism” to the contrary.
