Paul Ryan is a faithful Catholic who gives credit to Ayn Rand for some of her economic philosophy. Touche.
“Some.” Even a blind sow gets an acorn. Some of her philosophy mirrors subsidiarity, but sh is completely devoid of solidarity.

I am a social darwinist as well. I guess by your judgement, I am a bad Catholic. 🤷
I am in no position to judge your catholicity, but social Darwinism vis-a-vis Ayn Rand is as incompatible with Church teaching as Marxism.

Some of these counter-arguments have merit, but my question would be: do you want peace and justice in the Holy Land or continual conflict?
The only time there has been relative peace in the Holy Land has been when a brutal repressive government has ruled the entire area.

How do you propose that peace be made?

Dr. Paul is not third party. 🤷
Correct. He is a proud Republican! …er…well, no, he actually has nothing good to say about the Republican Party…but, he is running as a Republican.

He is also a member of the Libertarian Party, which is a third party…

It’s complex.

Asa registered member of the California Libertarian Party, I’d be quite happy to vote for him:tiphat:

Romneys the moderate, someone should let them know.

They are three of eleven that endorsed Hillary five years ago, now they endorse Dr. Paul. 🤷

Would you have said the same if Santorum was out of the race and they endorse Romney?
Romney called the ‘centrist,’’ ‘moderate’’ now who was seen along with Mike Huckabee in 2008 as the conservative alternative to John McCain, yet holds the same positions now.

Who at the time was so pro choice he vowed to fight for a woman’s right to kill her child.

Romney and McCain are cut from the same cloth.

No. They aren’t. Romney is more conservative than McCain. On immigration, I wish they held the same view, but Romney is far right.
Go to YouTube and type in liberal Mitts greatest hits, if that man is conservative and he gets the nomination, then the Republican party is a lot further gone than I thought they were.

You might find a split hairs difference amongst them on an issue here or there, or basing your opinion on the stance he’s taking now versus the stances he took previously, but to consider the man anything near conservative would be dangerous and if he for elected and pulled some big government stunts, which he probably will, then you can’t say you didn’t see it coming, you deserve it.

I do consider stances now versus stances he took previously. Why wouldn’t I? Is everyone who changes stances a liar?

He is definitely conservative, though I would consider him more moderate than some. I would also support Santorum, as he is a conservative…even though some posters have said he isn’t.

Reagon used to be pro choice before becoming pro life. Romney’s record on pro life issues was far better in office than Reagon’s was before he became president, yet Reagon is held up as a conservative icon. A group of pro life activists from Massachusetts have written a letter saying Romney is sufficiently pro life.

Changing a stance, fine, but the mans been all over the map. If that doesn’t scream pandering politician saying whatever it takes to get elected.

Ron Paul doesn’t consider Reagan a conservative icon, so I’m guessing his supporters don’t either.

“Dr. Paul loved President Reagan’s campaign platform and sincerely hoped he would govern that way,” said spokesman Gary Howard. “Dr. Paul remained personal friends with Reagan, flying on Air Force One with him several times, but was saddened with the weakening of the Reagan Revolution and the co-opting of Reagan’s great message by the Establishment.”

Howard said he doesn’t think Paul endorsed any candidates during the years when Reagan won the White House, so it doesn’t appear the congressman “stood with” the Republican favorite beyond 1976.

The Paul campaign has a history of manipulating the facts when it comes to Reagan-related issues. The group produced an ad in July claiming the former president had reluctantly raised the debt ceiling because of pressure from Democrats. In reality, his reluctance had nothing to do with the debt ceiling, but instead with a set of automatic defense cuts that would take effect if he and Congress couldn’t reach a deficit-reduction deal.

Paul “stood with” Reagan, but his support didn’t last for long. He endorsed the charismatic Republican in 1976 and later ostracized him while chasing his own presidential dreams — at the same time Perry backed Gore, nonetheless.

The Texas congressman may be more Reagan than the Gipper himself, but he can’t “totally disassociate” himself from the conservative icon only to invoke his name once he needs more support from the Republican base. He earns two Pinocchios for trying to have it both ways.

Thank you for your opinion and/or campaign rhetoric. :tiphat:

Ok, now go watch that video at YouTube and explain all of his other “conservative” positions. What will he say behind closed doors? You’ve got one issue, abortion, I’ll accept his sincerety for that until you start showing how liberal you are every where else.

If Romney is conservative, I’m in the twilight zone.

People can change their positions on issues with new insight and experience.

In 2008, Ron Paul had this to say about global warming:
Code:
It is clear that the earth experiences natural cycles in temperature. However, science shows that human activity probably does play a role in stimulating the current fluctuations.
By 2009, Paul said:
Code:
The greatest hoax I think that has been around for many, many years if not hundreds of years has been this hoax on ...] global warming.”

It might turn out to be one of the biggest hoaxes of all history, this whole global warming terrorism that they’ve been using, but we’ll have to just wait and see, but it cannot be helpful.

RonPaul.com says this change in position was “additional consideration and analysis” on the part of Ron Paul.

Ron Paul also changed his mind on capital punishment, because he concluded it was racially biased against minorities.
