Until the new Archbishop is appointed and the community is canonically erected as a private or public association of the faithful, nothing else can be done. If for any reason the new Archbishop decides he will not start a new community whoever is left will have to pack and go home. That is the reason things seem to be going slow and there is no new news. Please continue to pray. Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel’s hope is on hold (other than doing the spiritual and corporal works of mercy) until a new archbishop approves the rule and constitution of the community. Please keep those prayers going for her.

Sister J

And an updated email address would help, too! A website would be even better.

Blessings,
Cloisters
Sister Rosalind has had a sudden problem with her email, according to a good friend and her brother. I am not sure if her email address will change or not, as a result. A similar problem happened awhile back to another person that I know.

Her website will probably not be up and running until the needed approval comes from whomever is the new Archbishop, though I do not know this for certain. However, I do have the intended url if you want to ‘watch’ it… like I have been… 😃 motherofisraelshope.org/

Radio alert! :okpeople:

Sister Rosalind is scheduled to be on Catholic Answers radio today at 3:00PM Pacific time.

I won’t be able to listen but I do plan to listen to the archives later this week. If Sister has any updates please let us know.

I got the following email from Ros the other day - has anyone else received it, too? I’m glad to say I was not among those who received the fraudulent email to which she refers. Her message also contains her new email address:

"Dear Friends,

Many, if not most, of you have received an e-mail stating that I am stranded in Africa and in need of funds. I surely pray that all realized it was a serious scam and did not reply. How utterly unfortunate that what God has given us the ability to do for good is so soon twisted and used for evil.

My Gmail account has been blocked (as has the fraudulent Yahoo account). I surely do apologize and thank the many of you who have tried to contact me on it. I apologize, too, if, in my attempt to reach everyone, you receive this message more than once.

My new email address is: sisterrosalind@stlouis.org.

In keeping with our Blessed Lord’s abundant mercy in working all things together for good, may I take this “opportunity” to wish you all a most blessed, holy, and hope-filled New Year. I am convinced that we are chosen in Him, like Queen Esther of old, “for such a time as this.” May we, by God’s grace, be instruments of His love, truth, and hope in the midst of this present darkness.

With gratitude to you all, in the love of the One who came that we might live,

Sister Rosalind

P.S. So that you have also my new address at the convent in Saint Louis, it is: Daughters of Mary, Mother of Israel’s Hope, 4950 Heege Road, St. Louis, MO 63123. God bless you."

Just returned from the conference in St. Louis. It was a wonderful conference, surpassing all of the past ones. Sister Rosalind spoke regarding a time of discernment. The other women who had come with her in June have left and she is by herself in St. Louis. It was not clear whether or not she will be having any women for “come and see” in the near future.

Again, please pray for her that God will keep her in the hollow of His hand during this time of discernment.

Are you saying the 2 or 3 women that started with her felt they longer had a vocation ?(or one with that order)
If that is the case, how can the bishop give his blessing if there isn’t a group to start it?
I hope that this is just a wrinkle and more women are interested. It’s hard to change your whole life at mid-age, you tend to get caught up in the newness, the passion and zeal of a new venture, but when the day in and day out reality comes, you have to really pray and ask yourself if you belong here. Also, I love Rosalind, but this is so new to her. Most groups I’ve heard of that started, re Fr. Groechels, Mother Angeilicas, etc. had an experienced priest/nun and at least 5 nuns/priests.
I will pray for her. Please keep us updated.

Oh, dear, how sad to think of Sister Rosalind alone in St Louis! 😦 I sent in my application to join her almost a year ago, but received no formal answer. I’m sure this was due to the project being put on hold until the new bishop is appointed.

In the meantime, I have been accepted into another community which allows me to stay in my own home as a postulant and pay off my debts. After they are paid off, I can then go to the convent and, God willing, become a conventual sister. I think the two hardest things for older women are 1) debt 😊 and 2) being sure that children are old enough and self-sufficient. If I were new at discernment and were free of debt with self-sufficient children, I would join Rosalind in the wink of an eye . . . if she would have me! Therefore, I think that many other women will join her as soon as they are able. For myself, I am very happy where the Good Lord has placed me.

I was able to hear Rosalind speak at Northern Illinois University at EWTN’s Family Celebration last October, and her talk was awesome! I also had a few minutes to speak with her one-on-one. I’m sure God will bless her because she is His devoted servant already in her heart. Such love she has for Jesus! We should all be a dedicated as Rosalind!

I will keep Rosalind and the women discerning about joining her new community in my prayers. :gopray2: I sincerely believe that God will reward Rosalind’s faith, devotion, and desire for the religious life. Just think of some of the difficulties other foundresses have gone through, like St. Jane Francis Chantal who founded the beautiful Visitation Sisters! No, God will bless Rosalind. I’m positive of it. 👍 First, I will pray that the Holy See under the guidance of the Holy Spirit will send a kind and supportive bishop to St. Louis! 🙂 God bless you, Rosalind!

I think people are a little overexcited about this new order. New orders in the Church are only tested with time and discernment.

And please don’t get me wrong, I am not AGAINST this new order. I do speak from experience though because after several years of being in a “new group” in the Church, after finding out the group had manipulated me into joining, I left. Later on my realization was confirmed as true by the proper Church authorities. Now, I am left out in the cold, with NO compensation or help to get on my feet again, as the order discouraged college education. So at a fairly old age I am living at the house of relatives and going to a community college and working in an entry level job. I also have had no help from the order or Church authorities with regards to paying for a psycologist or getting spiritual direction. I am left out in the cold and truly am “a sheep without a shepard”.

Orders take a long time to be founded. It’s not an overnight process.

There are some pertinent question for those who are considering joining:
  1. Rosalind Moss, having never lived as a religious herself, how qualified is she at running a new community?
Does she have an experienced and holy religious sister from another established order who will “teach” the new order how to live the religious life?

Who will be her spiritual director? (The group I was in had the main superior WITHOUT an outside spiritual director)
  1. What type of canonical entity will this new group be approved as?
  2. Will the new group allow, as is upheld by Canon Law, the sisters to chose ANY priest to be their spiritual director?
  3. How will funds be raised for the new group?
  4. What provisions will be made for those who join the group, even for several years, and then leave? Will they received compensation/help for getting on their feet again?
  5. Will the sisters in the community be allowed to have recourse to a source outside the community? Will they be able to freely talk to the Bishop confidentially? Will all the sisters be aware of their rights under Canon Law?
  6. Will the sisters formally study theology, philosophy, or Canon Law?
  7. Will the order practice the screening of the mail of all members (a practice which does have a tradition in the Church, but is open to abuse on the part of superiors.)
  8. Will the group make it clear that one’s salvation does not depend on being in this group?
  9. Will this order’s constitutions be in the public domain? If not, why?
These questions are very important to ask and very constructive. Any order in the Church that is healthy will answer these questions straightforward.
Anyone entering any order should ask these questions.

Also you might want to reflect on a document written by Peter Vere called
“Signs of Trouble in a New Group”

http://www.icsahome.com/infoserv_articles/vere_peter_whatcanonlawyerslookfor_0402.htm

This is not meant to be an “attack” on this new order. Just prudent questions for people to ask when they join any order.

Don’t make the same mistake I did, trusting the psychological healthiness of an order just because they have canonical approval in the Church.

You have raised some valid concerns, indeed.

As wise and intuitive as Rosalind is, I’m sure she has gone over every minute detail of her endeavor with a fine toothed comb.

II hope her new order flourishes !

I think it needs to be said again. Sister Rosalind is not starting a new order - she is bringing a new charism to the church. It will be a congregation or institute of consecrated life - either of which will take years of formation and perseverance. And probably another two decades after being designated as an Institute of Consecrated Life at the Diocesan level.

Yes, there have been cases in the past where a lay woman started a new community, but the church in her wisdom has some religious community walk the path with the budding community to help them learn to live religious life. Usually, it is a religious with a similar charism. Mother Elizabeth Ann Seaton had the Sisters of Charity to help form them.

Again, please pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit and for perseverance for Sister Rosalind. This is a very difficult time for anyone who would experience the series of set backs that have occurred.

If you desire her good, fast and pray.

Can you tell me what community you entered? I’m curious.

Hi, I haven’t posted on the forums, in a long time. However, I needed to post about her community that is no more.
I am discerning with a few communities that I found online at:www,vocationsplacement.org, and Institute for Religious Life.
A sister with a community that I am writing to, knows one of the ladies, who was a postulant, with the community. She told her of the community “life”, and was very unhappy, because the community was at a total standstill. No prayer life, etc.
Supposedly Rosalind is a “dreamer”. But the dream has failed.
I too, was going to enter a community in Dallas, TX. This was three yrs. ago. We had 6 sisters. Mother Superior, three novice’s. and two postulant’s. But the Bishop, closed it! She was getting alot of inquiries. Now, she was sent to another community, but where?
This is my view. I am seriously discerning.

God be with you all, Clare Therese:newidea: :highprayer:

This post has upset me, as it is filled with innuendo and second hand information that is not verifiable. Sometimes, it is better to say nothing. 😦

In fact, sometimes it is BEST not to say anything further. So I won’t.

This post is in answer to Holly Dolly’s question
Can you tell me what community you entered? I’m curious.
I was accepted as a postulant with the Servants of the Sacred Cross last November. You can go to their website www.thesacredcross.org to learn more about the community. It has been in existence for almost ten years now and has a very special charism of working for the unity of all historically catholic (small c) churches. We have Anglican sisters and Roman Catholic sisters. The Anglicans are mostly from the Traditional Anglican Communion; however, there are more Roman Catholic members than Anglicans. We are also hoping that some Othodox sisters may join us one day. If you are interested, you should contact Reverend Mother Wendy James as directed on the website.

I will keep you in my prayers.

Hello. I wasn’t trying to upset anyone by what I posted. I am truly sorry if I hurt anyone’s feelings. The person that knows the woman who left, is a Franciscan Nun in Iowa. She belongs to there parish church. She had good things to say about Roseland, mind you. It was that the community just wasn;t getting anymore postulant’s. I think that if she would of accepted ladies for a come and see, it would of been great. Plus, when will St.Louis be appointed a new bishop??? I apoligize to all. I to am discerning a serious call to religious life.😃 :flowers:

So, Rosalind’s community is no more? I was praying really hard for them as I suspect it is VERY difficult to start a new order, especially when your diocese has no Bishop. I just need to know if I should continue prayers, or if I should stop praying for the community, and pray for Rosalind in general.

I know some Sisters in St. Louis, and I think it must be very difficult for the religious there to do without a Bishop. It must be difficult anywhere. 😦

As far as I know, the two other women that were with her recently left, and went back home. I am not saying anything bad about Rosalind Moss. I never heard her, or saw her on EWTN. Or I probably did, and never paid any attention. I was so in love with Mother Angelica’s community, and discerning my own, which by the way IS coming down to a few communities.

I think Rosalind really needs the prayers. I am discerning with different communities, and not just focused on one. Maybe Rosalind got in way over head, way too fast.

I do know of a community, in Layfette, LA., Daughters of St.Joseph. They have the Carmelite Spirituality. When the community grows, they will permission, to wear the full, traditional, carmelite habits/veils, and take “sister” names. Currently their are 4 in community, and they are not contemplatives(cloistered), they are Contemplatives in Action ministry. You can find them in the Visions Magazine which is free.

But as far as I know, thier is no more of her community. Just her.

ClareTherese:shrug: 😦

I almost discerned with the Daughters of St. Joseph. They are a BEAUTIFUL community! The habit they are planning to wear when they are approved, interestingly enough, looks very similar to the one that the Carmelite Sisters of the Divine Heart of Jesus wear. Compare these photos:

😉 Do the daughters of st Joseph have a web site? If not do you know their address?
