Thank you all again. I can never say that enough. I saw the oncologist on Wednesday, and spent Thursday in the hospital getting two units of blood. I’m still exhausted, but hopefully it will ‘kick in’ soon and my counts will go where they should be.

I have been very depressed. Not only because of my illness. It has to do with having to deal with a certain person that I cannot avoid. Please pray for a person unnamed, and also for me to be able to keep from losing a civil tongue. Pray that I can learn to not let it ‘get to me’, and the consider the source.

And please pray that I make the right decision regarding radiation to the brain. If the cancer has spread there, it will be an obvious choice. And I know that if it does spread later rather than now, that the brain is where it likes to go. But I was told one of the side effects could be that I’d have a great risk of dementia 10 or so years down the road. I really have to think and pray about this.

Thank you again. You are all in my prayers, always. May God bless you.
Hail Mary, full of grace, The Lord is with thee.
Blessed art thou among women,
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now,
and at the hour of death. Amen

Lord, there are many with cancer who are struggling with decisions such as that which Peggy must make. We pray that Your mercy and grace will be upon her as she ponders the treatment which she may have to undertake. By the power of Your Holy Spirit, we pray that her mind will be illumined and a proper decision will be made. Continue to strengthen her and cause her to focus upon the true reward which Your Son promised to those who believe in Him and keep His commandments. Father, our spirits remain undiminished regardless of that which occurs to us on this earth. May the trustworthiness of Your promises lead us into eternity with You. We ask this through the same Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior. Amen! Alleluia!

Dear Baptista, At the risk of being the Devil’s Advocate, what would be the state of the dementia? Just beginning,…or advanced…if you did the radiation? Beginning is not so bad and you would still be alive which is definitely a plus! Whatever you choose, we are all out here praying for you!!

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
that never was it known that anyone who
fled to thy protection, implored thy help,
or sought thine intercession
was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother;
to thee do I come, before thee I stand,
sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate,
despise not my petitions,
but in thy mercy hear and answer me.
Amen

I’m assuming that it would be a progressive thing. I had one aunt who had this, and another who is now in a home with it. It’s one of the things I’ve always prayed never to get. Having ‘chemo brain’ from treatment of two different cancers, I’ve had a preview of how it is to not be able to think properly, or to forget some things totally and it’s frightening.

I know I would still be alive. The doctor mentioned that, but truth be told, I pray for a happy death before something like that happens. Living alone with family far away makes it more difficult. I want to do what God wants. That is my prayer.

And thank you for your prayers, Desert Sister, and others. You help me so much.

Dear Baptista,
I understand, totally, where you are coming from with the fear of the dementia! It is also in my family! My mother had it for years. I am in my mid sixties so I am getting to the age where it could appear and I don’t want it either. I think we all dread losing our memories, etc.

However, this is not a decision to make easily, but one where you will sit before the Lord and ask what His best is for you and then proceed accordingly. I am alone at this point in my life. I have children but they are grown and busy with families and the problems in the economy, so I try not to burden them with my life issues. It sounds like you are in a similar situation with no family close.

I want you to know that I will continue to stand by you in prayer, no matter what! You are a permanent part of my rosary! And I will begin to fast again. Perhaps this will be one of the times where the windows of heaven will open and blessings will begin to pour forth over your life! But whatever happens, we will keep step with you and make sure that every step you take will be covered in prayer! Remember in Jeremiah 29:11-13 it says:

"For I know the plans I have for you, says the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. 12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. 13 You will seek me and find me; when you seek me with all your heart, "

That will be my prayer for you from now on, that God will give you a future and a hope!

Ah, Desert Sister, it does sound like we are close in age (I’m 62) and in family situations. Your post has brought tears to my eyes, it’s so beautiful. I thank you again for your prayers and understanding. And know that you are also in my prayers. God is good. He will help me as always.

Loving God,

We lift up the intentions of our sister Peggy today and ask that you will give her the discernment and the wisdom to make the best choice for her treatment and for her peace of mind. My mother suffers from Alzheimers dear Lord, and you were kind enough to allow us to move her in with my brother’s family and she has stabilized and enjoys time with my brother’s five children. Dear Lord, I pray that you will spare Peggy this type of challenge in her life, but your Holy and perfect will be done and your mercy and grace is never ending for your loving children like Peggy. Please grant courage and strength to Peggy as she considers this important step in her life, and bless her doctors and medical staff so they provide the best possible recommendations and care to her during this time. We know that you are the Way, the Truth, and the Life dear Lord and ask that you grant the insight and comfort to Peggy to make a choice and be comfortable with her choice at the appropriate time.

We pray in the name of your beloved son Jesus, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever.

Amen.

Merciful and loving Lord, we beseech You to pour out heavenly graces upon Peggy, sustaining her during this most difficult time in her faith life. Lord, Your presence remains always with the afflicted. Grant Peggy knowledge of that presence and acceptance of Your Divine Will. Comfort her with Your promises and restore her in spirit by the gifts of Your Holy Spirit. Strength we pray for her, O Lord, as she suffers for the sake of Your Kingdom. Father, allow her to remain faithful as You are eternally faithful. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!

Father in Heaven, we pray that Your divine protection remains always with Peggy, who is greatly tested in her strength and faith. Grant her the graces to love You increasingly and to praise You as she struggles through the treatment of her affliction. May she offer each suffering, each weakness, each defeat up to You for the glory of Your Name. Reveal Your constant presence to her in the course of her day, in response to her thanks and praise. Graciously consent to hear our petitions on her behalf as we spiritually journey along with her. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God for ever and ever. Amen! Alleluia!
