Russians Indicted by FBI for Interference in 2016 Elections

Reading through the archives of this site, there appear to have been over the last couple of years some posters who had a lot of glowing things to say about Putin. But really, CAF is no different than any other online forum, in that Russians and other foreign cyber operatives will create profiles, with many posts of a mundane nature, and then all of sudden it’s a strangely similar set of posts attacking America (ie. bringing up previous misdeeds, claims of Muslims taking over the West, hyperbolic anti-gay posts and the like). It is true that there are legitimate posters that hold these views, but there is a pattern to the St. Petersburg cyberwarriors that’s pretty easy to recognize if you post to multiple online forums.

They’re really common on news sites that allow public postings.

I don’t participate here at CAF anymore because during the election season most of the posts I wrote something negative about Trump were deleted, like the one I wrote about how it seemed to me that whatever Trump accused of his adversaries in the primaries and general he himself seemed to be guilty of. While exceedingly negative comments about Hilary, like how she was involved in abhorrent sexual abuse, were allowed to remain, despite people flagging them.

So as far as I’m concerned this site is also hampered by Russian interference.

I’m sure this post will also be deleted post haste.
Clinton derangement syndrome was a huge problem for sure, but the problem went even deeper with the GOP base. The Russians interfered with the primaries as well. Kasich, Rubio & Bush were all pushed aside because the base was convinced by the Russians that they needed red meat.

I highly doubt 13 (or 30) people swayed the election much one way or another. Trump won by an absolute landslide if the data from Harvard is to be believed suggesting over 3 or 4 million people ineligible to vote actually did vote. At any rate, the opinion of this non-American is that if Russians did have something to do with criminal Hillary Clinton losing the election, I’d like to shake their hands. It saved me from moving to another continent to get as far away as possible. Perhaps the US got a taste of its own medicine on this front.
Your post is satire - right?
Like something The Onion would print.

Absolutely not. Hillary was one of the worst candidates to run for President in US history and lost. It didn’t require Russians to reach this outcome; Hillary did it all on her own. I don’t know why people can’t realize this and keep trying to grasp at straws.

I have been participating more on news categories since CAF rolled out the new website; but I do understand your concern, and I have several thoughts to share with you:
  1. I do not think that the moderation of CAF has suppressed expression in a partisan manner on the new site.
  2. I do suspect that there has been Russian influence exercised purposely by users both on the old and on the new site.
  3. I have seen some concern by site administration regarding posting on this new site of patently false, pernicious information as indicated by the removal of such posts.
I think that it is incumbent on the users of any site to remain civil in our discourse while correcting and reporting patently false information. We also need to be aware of when users are exhibiting bad intentions- such as interjecting divisive subjects that are unrelated to the topic under discussion or fomenting divisiveness for the sake of divisiveness in other ways.

I think it might be helpful if CAF would devise some guidelines to help users realize when they are being manipulated.

The only collusion that occurred was between Fusion GPS and Hillary Clinton. Thank God that criminal lost or it would be 8 more years of Obama (whose foundation [his trust] has has literally funded islamic terrorism). I don’t know why people can’t just see through the noise and wake up!

The indictment states the Russian operation began years before the 2016 election, before Trump was a candidate, and some of the activity was anti-Trump. Their aim was to sow discord and distrust not to get a candidate elected. NO COLLUSION!

And still no acknowledgement that the Russians waged war against American democracy - let alone CONDEMNING IT!

Haven’t you been reading the REAL news? The Russians were responsible for pushing all the dirt on Hillary - with the help of the gullible.

What was said about Hillary was FACTUAL while what was said of Trump (the “Russian dossier” that was paid for by Clinton) was all false just like the fake sexual allegations coming out supposedly after decades 3 weeks before the election. Americans apparently aren’t stupid enough to have fallen for what the Associated Press (do you even know who owns this?) was pushing on them. It’s time we start asking some serious questions, and not to do with nonsense noise regarding Russians.

Of course you don’t want the Russians exposed. I get it now. 😉

I could care less. How about America be exposed for all the meddling it’s commenced in politically worldwide, even Hillary herself? If what you say is true she got a taste of her own medicine but even as the anti-Trump FBI agent Strzok said himself, “THERE’S NO THERE THERE.” Hillary lost because she is a corrupt globalist criminal and Americans had enough of that sort of ideology responsible for so much destruction and failures worldwide. The absolute worst presidential candidate in history put in place for no reason other than her sex. America spoke and put Hillary out to pasture.

Spoken just like an agent of a foreign givernment and with all the hostility of a government intending to undermine democracy.

Ridiculous. You are all brainwashed to the point of absurdity by the same people you’re slaving to perpetually pay your “debts” back to. Wake up.
For a stated “non-American” you are highly passionate about this subject having to do with America… maybe your passion is associated with subjects having to do with Russia?

Yes because I happen to love the Republic and what it fundamentally stands for and that would have been very much threatened under a Hillary administration just as it was under Obama. Had Hillary won I’d be in Australia right now rather than within walking distance of the US border. Regardless, any wrongdoing that you’re claiming had been done would have been on Obama’s watch so how wonderful that the ISIS funding deceiver himself’s highly incompetent Secretary of State never took over the reigns.

Your posts reveal a clear disdain for America and Americans - not love. You are spreading misinformation.

I totally agree with everything you said here. 👍

I hold disdain for anti-American democrats only. I’ve been all through America and the blue coastal states are the worst. Where they are headed politically is totally off the deep end and can not be called “progress.” The red states will not follow. And YOU are spreading misinformation as pushed by the Associated Press.
