I can’t reason with unreasonable people…this thread is pointless…

There it goes…Abortion…I knew it would come to this as it always does…The obsession with abortion has gotten out of hand…It is just ONE issue not the only issue…Please stop the insanity…Don’t let a party win for this ONE thing:mad:
Yep always comes back the deaths of millions. If we’d all just learn to get over that little issue you’d see just how great the democrat party is…

Where’s the puking smiley?

Millions suffer from poverty in this country, which party wants to help?
The Republicans. The democrats would be just fine if those millions would continue to take the government dole and remain mired in poverty forever.

The chief difference between the parties, is that the Democrats (for the most part) want to use government to force others to give money to the poor. That type of charity is sterile. Our Lord wanted us to each help our own neighbors. This helps maintain the dikgnity of the poor.Charity allows the receiver to realize that the help is coming from God through the giver to the receiver. Government “charity” is seen as coming from “the government”. Gratitude is missing. Gratitude need not be made known by the receiver (except in the most basic form); knowing of that gratitude can cause danger to one’s humility (again speaking of the giver). But that gratitude is good for the recipient
With all due respect, I ask you to think this out again. The Democrats had two years in which they could have passed anything they wanted…absolutely anything. So ask yourself what did they actually do for the poor, by force or otherwise? The answer is, they did nothing at all for the truly poor. Everything they did was middle class welfare. The absolutely worst off; those who can’t do anything to help themselves, specifically those disabled poor on SSI. What did they get out of all the massive spending? Nothing at all.

Worse than that, think about this. Remember “cash for clunkers”? Totally a middle class tax gift. Poor people can’t buy new cars. The only cars they can buy are…you guessed it, clunkers. But this government destroyed them. How could it have failed to turn those “clunkers”, many of which were perfectly good cars, over to the various welfare agencies so poor people could perhaps drive to work or to school or to the hospital? But it was worse than that. By destroying a significant stock of “clunkers”, it allowed used car dealers to raise the prices on “clunkers” that were not bought up in the program. That program was as cold-hearted as anything I have seen this government do.

So, please do not assume that today’s Democrat party cares about the poor just because their supporters claim they do.

Dead people don’t get government benefits.

It is the ONE most important human rights issue of our time (with its related issue euthanasia)

I accept that clarification 🙂

How is it unreasonable to conclude that civil rights are worthless if one is killed before they can even care about those rights?

House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) took direct aim at President Barack Obama in a speech Wednesday morning, accusing him of “preying on the emotions of fear, envy and resentment” as he travels the country to sell his jobs plan.

In a speech at the Heritage Foundation, Ryan said Obama’s method of rallying public support for his $447 billion jobs package was “sowing social unrest and class resentment” and could be “just as damaging as his misguided policies.”

“Instead of working together where we agree, the president has opted for divisive rhetoric and the broken politics of the past,” Ryan said. “He is going from town to town, impugning the motives of Republicans, setting up straw men and scapegoats, and engaging in intellectually lazy arguments, as he tries to build support for punitive tax hikes on job creators.”

VIDEO: Rep. Paul Ryan on Saving the American Idea

I see nothing in what he says that is THAT far off the truth. I mostly agree with him. 👍

That is unfair coming from Ryan. Ryan is a follower of objectivism. This is a philosophy that champions selfishness and a belief that the poor should be blamed for their failures. The belief system is very insulting to those who believe in God, it is highly anti-religion. I encourage people to really to study Ayn Rand and the philosophy she expouses.
Paul Ryan is a devout Catholic and has consulted with Bishop Dolan on numerous occasions to ensure that his proposed economic policies supported the poor. You can have your own opinion, but you are not entitled to your own facts.

I’ve never read anything by Ayn Rand, nor do I know anything about Objectivism. I do agree with what Paul Rand is saying. Paul Rand is Catholic. Do you know for a fact that he espouses Objectivism, or is that just a label you use for anyone who is against big greedy government?
Objectivism is more of a bogey-man for many people on the left rather than anything that they have seriously studied.

Ayn Rand reminds me of a lot of the Russian Jews who grew up oppressed by the stifling Soviet system. When they finally broke free to Israel they went a little capitalist crazy reveling in their new found freedom.
Since then the Israeli economy took a sharp turn to the right and prosperity and has never looked back.

Actually they invented it. It was so successful that even Karl Rove knows he created a monster. Live by the sword…die by the sword.
:rotfl: Saul Alinski “invented” the concept of demonizing your opponent when Rove was just a kid. The Democrats have been using his playbook since the 60s.

The whole argument of the left is SIXHIRB, that is that those not on the left are sexist, intolerant, xenophobic, homophobic, islamophobic, racist, bigoted.
It is not as if there cannot be an intelligent argument made for big government. It is just that nobody bothers, because people of a lefttist mindset invariably understand their opponents to be of varying shades of evil.

It was like the Michael Moore interview where he was challenged as being a member of the one percent, with his 50 million dollars in the bank. He was incensed that anyone would ever even think that, because he was one of the good guys on the left who was a force of good in the world, and not like any of those greedy one percenters that he and the 99 percenters were fighting against.

That people on the left define themselves as good, and people on the right therefore are bad by definition. It is not just some Alinksy tactic, I don’t think. It may be a ploy, but it is not just a ploy. It is a firmly held belief by leftist that they really do think of themselves as morally superior to conservatives.
