the second coming is just that, a second coming of Christ. It happens somtime during the tribulation. I never said He would come a third time.
I always thought the 2nd coming was Judgment Day - the end of this age.

The second coming is during the tribulation. Which is described in Revelation.
There are all kinds of judgements during those seven years.
It does signify the end of this age and the beginning of a new age. That would be a thousand years of peace and a new Jerusalem. Millenial Kingdom

Let me re-state this. I thought the 2nd coming was when Jesus was going to bring down His Kingdom from Heaven. It’s not going to precede the Tribulation.

Actually, the 2nd coming of Jesus will put an end to the Tribulation.

Brother Newbie.

What do you think will happen then when the 1000 year reign is over?
You know this whole conversation here and how it has now evolved shows how we understand different things in Scripture as a coherent whole but as two different wholes, according to what theology we are taught. Our conclusions therefore end up different. One misunderstanding somewhere changes the whole picture. Therefore these things are important to understand.

I will be honest with you. About a year ago I met a wonderful spiritual man who taught me and some other young people (from a pentecostal background) about the rapture and I had never had such an elaborate lesson on the Revelation before… but while he was speaking I was thinking: this is somewhat nuts… and this I thought not because I was a Catholic or a former Lutheran (when being a Lutheran I had never heard about “the rapture”… but it just sounded a bit too far out. And the man looked at me and said: “Yes there is a trap in these things… I have to admit, when one studies this there is a real risk one might go mad…” I think he was right.

There is a man who spent much of his time figuring these things out … he has been into mid-trip, pre-trip and the whole bunch of things… he got all these ideas mixed up in his head… about when things would happen concering the 7-year tribulation period and when the millenium would be. In the end he came to another conclusion from where he ever though to get… He has wirtten a book about this whole topic. I dont know the title excatly but his name is David B. Currie… I know you probably don’t wanna go out and buy a book… especially by a convert to Catholicism from fundamentalism… there is no reason why you would, right… But I ask you to listen to him for a short while… I bet you will find it both interesting an non-threatening.

That’s exactly what I was taught and my understanding of Scripture.

Jesus will come in his Second Coming, and put an end to the Tribulation. He resurrect the dead both wicked and righteous and judge them according to their deeds.

Satan and his demons will be cast forever into Hell, never to return.

The righteous will be welcome into his kingdom, the wicked will be cast into the fire of hell. There will be a new Heaven and New Earth, and His Kingdom will have no end.

There will be no more war, suffering, death, sickness, the World will be a Utopia. A new World Order under the Davidic King name Jesus.

I believe the same thing.👍

after the 1000 yr reign Satan will be loosed. Rev 20:7
Then the white throne judgement. Rev20:11
The idea that the Catholic Church is the New Israel and the Tribulation happened in 70ad, I do not accept.
Read Rom11:11-36 for the nation of Israel. They will be in disobedience or disbelief till the fullness of the Gentiles have been grafted in. This hasn’t happened yet.
There are also plenty of scriptures I could show you to prove that the tribulation is still future. open up a new thread and I will explain.

Did you listen to the audiolink? 🙂

well, there will be great tribulations in the end times for sure… actually many of us believe these are the end times… but that does not mean that the Kingdom is not already among us…

I listened to the whole thing.
Israel is God’s chosen people.
He has made promises to them which have not been fulfilled. The church is NOT the new israel.
The nation of Israel IS the Nation of Israel.

As a Christian, I believe the Church the Believers of Jesus Christ is the New Israel, and as Christians we ought to pray for the Nation of Israel for their conversion to acknowledge that Jesus is their Messiah.

Yes, you are right. And I do pray for the Nation of Israel to accept Jesus and convert.

Dear brother Newbie.
Of Hebrew Catholics I can give you some names, since I know these people to have gone in depth with these issues: Rosslyn Moss, Bob Fishman, Roy Schoeman and … actaully Rosslyn’s brother David Moss… I would that you would listen to the audio with him. He speaks about the calling of the Jewish people. You see, replacement theology is not a teaching of Catholicism. We know that the Lord does not change His mind about the Jewish people but that they have a special calling.

There are two audios… I have listened to the first one only. It is obvious among Catholics as well as among many other Christians that people are not always totally aware of what their Church actaully teaches about Israel.
Let me know what you think, if you have time to listen to this… I think the other audios will also interest you.
Oh, and I admire the way which you seek the truth and are not afraid to ask and answer.

Remember Love, Remember Jesus. Praised be the Name Trice Holy <><

I must chime in on this one. IF I can not read the bible, how will I know what it says? How can I know the teaching of Jesus Christ?

I know This answer…Someone has to tell me.

If someone has to tell me, then I am relying upon HIS understanding of what each and every passage means. How do I know that HIS understanding is the correct one? Please don’t tell me they are being lead by the Holy Spirit though, because I can use that very same argument and truly mean it.

As a former Atheist, I studied many Protestant faiths on my journey homeward. Kept coming up with different teachings on the very same passage in scripture, Baptism being a prime example. When I FINALLY looked into the Catholic Faith, what I found was 2000 years of teaching the Very Same Doctrine. A doctrine that Never changed, but grew only in understanding.

Every letter of St. Paul tells me that Sacred Tradition pre-existed the Bible. They were, in most part, written to communities that were struggling with their new found Christian faith. How did these communities become Christian in the first place withOUT the bible? SACRED TRADITION:thumbsup:

The Church is the new Israel, and this can be seen in Rev. 12.

The State of Israel that exists today was not established by God, or even God-fearing Jews. It was established by Zionists which is largely a secular-humanist movement of Jews, which had practically nothing to do with Judaism itself. Although Israel today is a partial theocracy/apartheid state, it is largely secular and it has absolutely no connection to the previous Kingdom which God Himself established.

I suggest you read some Scott Hahn for the Catholic perspective. I followed Jack Van Impe and read the Late Great Planet Earth and all of the other popular fundamentalist dispensationalist materials as a teenager, and they greatly destroyed my faith.

I was more concerned about when Jesus was going to return than I was with living my day to day life with a good Christian attitude. Jesus Himself says only the Father knows when He will return. It’s not good to speculate on such matters which don’t pertain to faith and morals.

The woman in Rev 12 is the Nation of Israel.

the zionist movement will usher in the tribulation.
All the lost tribes will be returning to Israel and a new temple will be built.
New Sanhedrin is already formed.
All temple utensils are already made.
The time is near. Praise God!

Amen.

From Acts 8:

26 Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying: Arise, go towards the south, to the way that goeth down from Jerusalem into Gaza: this is desert. 27 And rising up, he went. And behold a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch, of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge over all her treasures, had come to Jerusalem to adore. 28 And he was returning, sitting in this chariot, and reading Isaias the prophet. 29 And the Spirit said to Philip: Go near, and join thyself to this chariot. 30 And Philip running thither, heard him reading the prophet Isaias. And he said: Thinkest thou that thou understandest what thou readest? 31 Who said: And how can I, unless some man shew me?
